My new pantry reveal! This year we completely outgrew our makeshift extended pantry in the basement. We preserved so much food it was time to expand in preparation for this years harvest season. Our old farmhouse was build in 1876 and built in storage spaces are one thing that is sorely missing. I love it! I wouldn’t paint the wood either. I wouldn’t use contact paper but rather shelf liner that just sits on it rather than glued to the wood.

Absolutely! Contact paper can be horrible to get off, especially from raw wood, so shelf liner is a much better solution and certainly cleanable!

I loathe contact paper since I had to peel off some a tenant had used on a rental and it was horrible work, still some on the cupboards :/

I love the shelves that are high enough for just one quart jar instead of having wasted space above the jar.

You should paint the front of shelves with chalkboard paint that way you can redo labeling as needed, use colored chalk to add colorful look.

That was my thought as I was watching the video. It would make it easier to change the labeling and easier to read it, and it would look good, too!

I would also paint the edges where you have the chalk with chalkboard paint. That way the chalk would show up brighter. It looks really good, guys!!

I’m just catching up on your older posts. This is a wonderful sight and showcases both Todd’s handy work and your skills in the kitchen. I’d be thrilled if this was my pantry. A place for everything and everything in it’s place.

Looking SOooo pretty with the 'Jewels" of the pantry all showcased in their natural glory! Personally the magnificent magenta of the beets steal the color show! I love your enthusiasm and the family effort to put food by!

P.S. My Mom lined her pantry shelves with linoleum sections. Easy to cut easy to wipe!

Oh my goodness, we are so alike. years ago i had my very 1st root cellar. WE had a access hatch thru the floor in the kitchen. It was small and the shelves were old but when it was loaded with all my jars of canning..i would stay down there for a long time organizing jars by colors and types. I also had bought canned items...and i would organize them as well. I loved my old ugly root cellar. Now we live in a old church and my cold room in under the bell tower. Its 8x8ft. And i love it so much. But i need more room so we will be putting up more shelves outside the cold room to store my big canners, roasters etc. I love the excitement in your face and voice...and i can totally relate.

Beautiful pantry , my uncle Duke was a great wood worker and built floor to ceiling shelves surrounding the basement half that was my aunt Julie's great memories ,they were full a sight. See !

It looks great! Todd, the shelf builder. Lol he is multi-talented. A keeper. I love storage for canning. Seeing all the colors and what nots, it always takes me back to my grandmothers house (it burned down when I was in high school). The fire may have taken all the things she had, but our family still have the wonderful memories. Tfs. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

That's so beautiful! Looks amazing and so organized. The green beans that's so funny. They first time I planted beans I planted so many. We had beans gallor I canned 79 quarts jars! That was after giving bins to our livestock and us eating so many fresh ones, haha.

Of course I love the new pantry. So much color, so easy to find things, a project built with love. I have to admit though, when I saw you take the old shelves out and swing them around into clean wall space, I kept thinking. Good! Over flow room. When you really want to can and store most/all of you food there is never enough room. I do believe this project will put a smile on your face for years. Love it.

Looks good Tod did a good job. when we put in our pantry I painted the front of the shelves with chalkboard paint, that way if I have to move things around its easy to relabel them. keep up the good work, God Bless.

Love your pantry, it is awesome. Someone mentioned putting up a string or rope line to prevent jars from falling off the shelf in an earthquake or other event. It is just food for thought.

We stained ours with tea and vinegar steel wool alternating the two. It gives it a rustic natural look. Doesn't matter if it gets scraped or stained, it adds to that look! We love it. Great pantry you have, it makes me want to make use of our basement.

Looks so beautiful. Love the canning lid garland. I finally got a pressure canner and a water canner. My goal is to learn how to can. I’m so happy to have discovered your channel. I currently live in a condo but I want to get out in the country, have a bigger garden than what my balcony allows and just get prepared. 🌸🌿

Fantastic!!!! There is a Bluetooth device called a Sensor Push. They sell on Amazon for $50 and track temperature and humidity. They update every minute. One can see the graph by hour, day, week, month etc. It works great in my pantry in NH and in my camper fridge when we travel. You can get a device so that it will transmit over the internet, but I have found the Bluetooth to be sufficient for my needs. It has been comforting to know this data for food safety purposes. There are likely other devices also, I am extremely happy with this device and have been using it for about 2 years continuously and have never needed to change the battery

I love the final product! You'll need another entire basement for another canning storage next year ;p Time for a hillside root cellar build ;) I like the shelves the natural color. I love how yall organized it by color.
