Sinhalese ancestors came here 545BCE.. Sinhalese ancestors intermarriage with indigenous tribal people.. the yakshas and nagas.. both groups were prakrit speakers.. Anuradhapura kingdom stands on the island for well over an 1400 years.. after the south indian invader ellalan killed sinhalese king Asela he made the northern parts a new kingdom called jaffna.. it was easy because in chola invading era lots of tamils settled there in northern parts.. that's the first tamil kingdom in sri lanka with evidence..
