In relation to the cut resistant wrist guard, I'm kind of surprised hockey's had less emphasis on cut protection than something like speed skating. I guess maybe it's the presence of hard padding over the vast majority of the body. But after seeing the cut resistant base layers that speed skaters wear, I wonder if a compression shirt/pant set with and without a neck guard is something that companies may look to make at a more affordable price point in the future. With how thin even the cheapest cut resistant materials can be now (I got some free gloves with a mandolin that are barely as thick as thing kid winter gloves) I figure it wouldn't be tough to make moisture wicking base layers that will give hockey players cut protection from the neck down, that would easily cover all of the major points you want, that your gear doesn't really protect, like the neck, wrists, backs of the ankles and inner thigh. Rather than have a piecemeal set of cut resistant items, you would just have one all-inclusive base that gives peace of mind while hockey players fly around the ice.

Matt, would be great to see a shootout of all the popular pro stock pants...sizing, protection, comparisons, etc. HP45 vs HPTK vs Nexus vs Nexus Custom Pro, etc. I just ordered a pair of Nexus of SLS and of course nervous about sizing... Also, would love a review on the Sherwood Rekker Legend 1 retail pants.

Would be an awesome thing to do and look at (I'd love to do it for gloves as well). But for pants that would require A LOT of purchases and me keeping stock of them over the years. Which unfortunately isn't really feasible.

Great thorough review, I'm a fan of your channel! What size elbow pads are these? I'm also 6'3 and will be shopping pads in the near future so I am curious, thanks!

Nice thorough review. I used the FT4 elbow pads for about a month before selling them because they were uncomfortable and I found the protection to be severely lacking, especially for direct elbow impacts on the ice. The FT6 elbow protection looks pretty similar so I’ll probably stick with my worn out Fitlite elbows. Did you do a review of the cut shield wrist guards? Do they work really well for keeping elbows in place? I prefer short sleeve shirt when playing and because my elbow straps are so worn I have issues with them sliding off all the time.

I didn't do a review of them yet, but it is a good idea and I will jump on that!

I know elbow pads may not be very exciting to everybody, but if you count the jofa and rbk eras as a continuation, its kind of crazy how long CCM has had one of the best offerings or the best offering on the market at any given time.

Really twisting my arm here. Totally picking up a pair, I'd like to know what you thought on the knees (FT6 pro) and how they might compare to the ASV and whatever you're preferred pair are

That review is coming soon, but I only wore them for about 5 skates since blocking any shot wasn't a pleasant experience.

I was looking forward to this review - I have them already. But I couldn't feel any noticeable difference in the air flow. I was thinking that with the jersey over the holes, it wouldn't make any difference

I've worn everything from Adidas NHL practice jerseys, to thick sublimated jerseys and have notice the air flow on the bicep and the forearm. Maybe the ones you have already had solid airflow compared to the ones I am using?

@@HockeyReviews Actually might be because I always wear a full sleeve base layer? It might be harder to notice it when skin isn't directly exposed

I always wear a full sleeve base unless I am testing in short sleeves for gear.

I’ve started playing in a rec league and still fall quite a bit, but my elbows kill me when I fall from the Bauer X pads. Would going straight to the top be the best option for alleviating elbow pain when falling. I wouldn’t mind getting tacks elbows, but I’m curious how restrictive/unrestrictive the difference between the tacks and jet speeds really are or if they’re about the same.

Any chance you can try them on? I don't think you necessarily need top end for the elbow protection from falls. The restrictiveness is going to be very personal preference though, I have 0 issues going back and forth between these and the Tacks

@@HockeyReviews Thank you! I ended up getting the tack as-v pro, just because if I'm not falling I'm not trying haha. Currently my town has one store that's always sold out *scheels*. I notice I tend to rotate positions more when playing drop in, so I'm trying to find something low profile like the jetspeeds yet still with protection of the tacks line so I don't have to worry about taking a puck when screening the goalie or defending.
