Grew up watching this movie! Jamie Lee Curtis was and still is a fox. The chemistry between Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy is aspiring. I would quote this movie all the time.

You must know that back in those days when this was made people were not so offended by things and they just watched to see how it all played out before figuring out the motive behind it. It was just a fun watched you realized there were people like that and that they would through life be judged by a higher source. The black people actually made fun of the whole racial thing. If you have not yet done it watch Blazing Saddles by Mel Brooks. Perfect example of what I am talking about.

Not going to lie, when the lightbulb moment happened for Coleman I was thinking you were going to have recognised him from being Marcus Brody in Raiders of the Lost Ark & Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade.

You noticed Frank Oz, but Richard Hunt (Wilson the Duke's stock trader) is also a Henson alumnus who played Statler, Scooter, Janice, Sweetums and Beaker of "The Muppet Show." Also, he was Junior Gorg in "Fraggle Rock." Did the song "Get a job" by the Silhouettes trip the music copyright? It shouldn't have. It was made back in 1957. That copyright should have been out of date the year before this movie came out.

1. Aykroyd made his bones (as did Murphy) first on the original Saturday Night Live. 2. He also worked with John Belusi in the Blues Brothers. 3. Beeks is played by the late Paul Gleason. He also played Richard/Dick Vernon in "The Breakfast Club" and the idiot deputy police chief in "Die Hard". 4. The police officer that tells Louis the powder is PCP is Frank Oz the voice for Kirmit, Yoda and many of the Muppets. 5. The studio didn't want Jamie Lee Curtis for the roll of Ophilia because they only saw her as a scream queen, but Landis insisted on casting her. Good for us. 5. I like how sympathetic Coleman is to Billy Ray. You can tell early on that he has no love for the Dukes. 6. In the restaurant when Billy Ray is about to speak it's a play on the old EF Hutton commercial. "When EF Hutton speaks everybody listens" 7. One of the most paused scenes in VHS history.😍🥰🤩 (JLC) 8. I wonder where Winthorp got all those drugs (and the gun) for only $50 Even in 1983. 9. There's an Easter egg regarding the Dukes in Murphy's "Coming to America". HINT/HINT 10. When Don Ameche says "Fuck him" regarding his brother he insisted that they use only the one take, because of his religious background he didn't want to swear at all. He also had an issue with the N word too.

Ok Angel, first Blues Brothers is a must watch classic! Second, since I know that you do read comments, another Christmas adjacent comedy from the 80's is "1941". An underrated comedy directed by Spielberg with Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, John Candy, Ned Beatty, Slim Pickens...

The pawnbroker is Ellas McDaniel, better known as Bo Diddley, a guitarist who made some great recordings in the '50s and '60s. During the scene, it's his music playing in the background. In the '80s, pulling someone's coat and other actions that offended you, were not as big a deal. The era of "Don't touch me or I'll have you arrested!" had not yet begun. At that time, the Tonight Show was hosted by Johnny Carson. His sidekick on the show was Ed McMahon, who would always say a few things about the show and then introduce Carson with, "And now, ladies and gentlemen ... heeere's Johnny!"

Yes....the Blues Brothers without question is a MUST see! Also with Dan Aykroyd and John Candy, you need to see The Great Outdoors. There's another movie with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi and it's very underrated...in my opinion (Bit I like off the wall things) is called "Neighbors" from 1981. They got off The Blues Brothers and then made Neighbors. Also starring Aykroyd and Belushi and made in 1979 is a movie called "1941". Aykroyd and Murphy gave stellar performances. Jamie Lee Curtis also gave an excellent...might I say well rounded performance too.

I found out about Trading Places in the late 90s (maybe even 2000 ... ?) when Comedy Central showed it in a movie block with Ghostbusters 2, Transylvania 6-5000 (hilariously goofball movie with Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begely Jr) and An American Werewolf in London (This movie is amazing) ... I enjoyed them all immensely. I had, of course, previously seen Ghostbusters 2, but all I remembered from it as a kid was: Baby, He-Man, Nintendo. I love Dan Aykroyd's gross Santa. It's amazing. I love that this movie turns into a heist, too I say "Looking Good Billy Ray! Feeling Good Louis!" more often than I probably should Also, yep! Enter the Dragon is with Bruce Lee. It and JCVD's The Quest are tournament movies (Enter the Dragon is far better, of course) OK seriously, those "designers" on Trading Spaces were monsters! They ruined all those people's homes! Why are you throwing out a $3200 couch to make an $80 plywood cushion area, you maniacs!? The suggestions/favorites: For Eddie Murphy, probably Coming to America from 1988 (They just made a sequel to this called Coming 2 America) (If you've never seen it I would highly recommend watching it soon-ish. It's slightly relevant to your current flicks and it even takes place during the winter season) Some other notable ones are: Bowfinger (with Steve Martin!), Dolemite Is My Name (good biopic movie), and he directed a movie (once) called Harlem Nights. It's a really strange movie, sometimes very funny, sometimes very dark, but it does have my favorite Arsenio Hall bit ever. He also has a movie with Martin Lawrence called Life and it's suppose to be a comedy, but I find the movie rather depressing overall For Dan Aykroyd, outside of Trading Places and Ghostbusters, I've always enjoyed Spies Like Us (Oddly similar to Stripes with Bill Murray and Harold Ramis) and My Stepmother is an Alien (This movie is adorable and a complete blast. I WISH I saw it as a kid.) After the early 90s he stopped starring in movies and would just show up in stuff like Tommy Boy and Grosse Point Blank. Tommy Boy is probably my favorite performance of his. I still haven't seen Blues Brothers or 2000 (both have Aykroyd. The first has James Belushi, Jim Belishi's brother, who sadly passed away. He was suppose to be the fourth Ghostbuster), but everyone loves that movie, likely a safe bet! He also made the most 80s movie ever (not a compliment in this instance) the same year as Trading Places, called Doctor Detroit. I don't think I would really ever recommend it to anyone. It's not Thomas C Howell's Soul Man levels of 'yikes', but it's in the ballpark

The gorilla guy was Jim Belushi. He's a fair actor, but nothing compared to his older brother, John Belushi. John Belushi was a legendary comic actor, and a breakout star among stars in the original cast of Saturday Night Live (1975-80). When people say Belushi, with no first name, they mean John. Sadly, John died young in 1982 of a drug overdose. But not before he left us with a couple of the best comedies of all time. THE BLUES BROTHERS (1980) is unlike any other movie. It's really its own thing - a comedy, action, adventure musical, and excels at all of them. It also earned a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most car crashes in one film. ANIMAL HOUSE (1978) is a hilarious, raunchy satire of college culture in the 60s. And John Belushi steals the show. Dan Aykroyd originally wrote GHOSTBUSTERS with Belushi in mind for the lead role of Venkman, but he passed before the shoot. Another of Aykroyd's SNL castmates, Bill Murray, took the part.

The next movie should be "Coming to America"! First of all, it's a great comedy, Eddie Murphy, one of this best movies. It's also has a cameo of two characters from "Trading Places".

Trading Places (1983): I'll bet you a dollar you're not ready for these facts, Angel.. So the studio originally had this written for Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder, who had worked together previously in Stir Crazy (1980) and Trading Places would have been their third collaboration but unfortunately, Richard Pryor had his Infamous accident and Eddie Murphy was still finishing up 48 hrs with Nick Nolte but the dailies and positive test screenings were wowing Studio Executives who wanted to take advantage of his hype and cast him in the movie to take Richard's place. But finding a replacement for Gene Wilder was a bit tricky because up until that time Dan Aykroyd had only successfully worked with John Belushi in The Blues Brothers and his work on Saturday Night Live and there were concerns that Aykroyd couldn't work without Belushi who died the year before but Landis still took a chance and the rest is history. Surprisingly, Jamie Lee Curtis was the hardest actor to sell to the studio for the role of Ophelia because up until that point she had only done horror films and was officially labeled as a "Scream Queen". Curtis remarked that up until Trading Places, she never had to do nudity but Trading Places was her first ever topless scene. She's only done topless scenes two more times with the last one happening in 2001. Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis did three more films together after this film: My Girl (1991), My Girl 2 (1994) and Christmas with the Kranks (2004). Since 2010, the SEC has rules regarding the use of inside information to Corner the markets, similar to The Duke Bros strategy. Since the movie inspired this rule it is known as the "Eddie Murphy rule". Ralph Bellamy (Randolph) and Don Ameche (Mortimer) had been working in the film industry since the 1930s and by this point in their careers, had a combined total of 150 films under their belts. This is actually the first time they've ever worked together and having such a high profile role in this film gave Don Ameche a renewed profile to '80s audiences, which got him an Academy Award for the movie Cocoon (1985). Also Ameche was responsible for two of the funniest bits of his character as the scene where he's trying to capture his billfold after Billy Ray threw it was done by accident but kept in the film and he was such a stickler about cursing that his "F bomb" towards the end of the film was done in one take because he refused to do a second. Even though Jamie Lee Curtis is dressed like an Austrian, she speaks with a Swedish accent because Jamie Lee Curtis couldn't fake an Austrian accent. 11 years later, she would star in True Lies with Austrian born Arnold Schwarzenegger. The scenes at the World Trade Center and the stock exchange were real. Many of the extras in the scene where real life Traders who came in on a weekend to film as attempting to film earlier in the week during legitimate trading proved to be problematic and forced the stock market to hold trades totaling over a billion dollars. John Landis would work again with Eddie Murphy on his next major film Coming to America which features a cameo from Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche, establishing the events of coming to America and Trading Places were in the same universe. This was also John Landis' first major film after the tragedy of Twilight Zone: The Movie, in which Vic Morrow and two child actors were killed on set due to negligence resulting in a helicopter crash. At the time, Landis was persona non grata to many filmmakers and Studios and even though the film was still very successful, many people still had concerns about working with Landis as his reputation never fully recovered. The baggage handlers at the train station were supposed to be Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas as the McKenzie brothers from their SCTV skits, however the deal fell through and Aykroyd and Murphy recommended fellow SNL alumni Tom Davis and Al Franken instead. Years later when Al Franken submitted his Financial records while running for Senator, Financial records showed that he still earns a acting residual from this film. In blink and you miss it cameos: the pawnbroker who short changes Louis for the watch is R&B Legend Bo Diddley. Billy Ray's cellmate is a young Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, the Boys) and the policeman taking inventory of Louis' clothing and possessions is actor/director Frank Oz, who's most famous for being the voice of Yoda in the Star Wars films as well as a notable collaborator with Jim Henson, voicing many famous characters including Miss Piggy, Fozzy bear and Animal. Oz made a similar cameo 3 years earlier in the Blues Brothers, as a corrections officer at the beginning of the film. Favorite films, not only do you have three notable careers launching from a success but it also continues the trend of just really great ladies films that people like to come back to and reference day in and day out that is crazy as it sounds for being an unconventional holiday film, it fits the bill when you watch it in December. And if you have this scheduled to release anywhere near the new year, I want to take this time to say for all that you've done these last few months and I hope this new year takes your KZfaq world, your professional world and your personal world to great new heights and whatever happens, I'm glad to be able to catch the show and I appreciate everything you do to make our days a little but brighter. The "here's Johnny" thing that Lee's customer said was not from The Shining. :) It was something which was said while introducing a famous talk show host of the time, Johnny Carson. Jack Nicholson used it based on that. :) "...I'm too busy making faces at guerrillas in the window" *clap* *clap* *clap* I watched this movie many times over the years, I never thought of that connection. From time to time and for months at a time I will start using the classic Eddie Murphy laugh. First time I did it was about 20 years ago (I am in my mid 40s) and I did it on purpose and just stuck with me for a while, then gone away and now it comes and goes. It's a good laugh even to use it. Right now I have a variation of it, slightly shorter length. Two movies I would suggest from Eddie Murphy are Pluto Nash (which everybody hated, but I thought it was terrific) which was a sci-fi comedy film noir on the moon. Yeah. Also I Spy. Both from the last couple of decades. I presume you have seen most of his older movies by now. If you haven't, then one of the older ones (1989) is Harlem Nights which is FULL of swearing and violence and laughter. As for Dan Aykroyd, other than of course the GB films, I highly highly suggest two more. The first is one of my all time favorite comedies, Spies Like Us, which is just insanely good IMO from 1986. Dragnet from 1987 IIRC, is also funny with a young Tom Hanks co-starring. A newer one is Grosse Pointe Blank from 1997, though he has a smaller part in it, it is good. (great movie btw) Anyway, my point is I like your reactions which is why I started watching your older ones and I apologize for leaving comment on older videos. Also, I love your laugh so yeah, that too.

Plenty of people are recommending that you watch The Blues Brothers, and of course they're right. But I also recommend that you watch the sequel, Blues Brothers 2000.

Enter the Dragon was Bruce Lee. He died back in the early 70's so he never got to fulfil a martial arts movie legacy like Jackie Chan has. He brought the whole sport into the mainstream in the late 60's and there were special things that were not to be made public and the people in charge of that craft were very upset that he did that. There were even conspiracy theories that they had him killed, but nothing was ever proven to be true about that

I think this was both Eddie & Dan's 1st film....& Jamie Lee Curtis almost didn't get the part, because at the time....she was known as the 'scream queen'. 'Halloween' was her big film. Also....look closely at the little skinny dude in the jail cell with Eddie & the 2 big black guys. That's Gus Fring (' Breaking Bad')
