I have to say I’ve never seen anyone mow a yard barefoot

Reminded me of the time my dad bought a manual reel mower. He mowed the yard twice the said "here you go boys". I borrowed a friend's gas mower.

This is the type of mower I cut lawns with around the neighborhood and never thought that it was hard work. Made a lot of pocket money.

I remember my mom got one of these back in the gap. It was super basic, but the best part. We had 3 acres and i was the lawn cutter. Needless to say i moved out.

The vintage ones when sharp cut like a treat

When I was a kid, unless you had a HUGE lawn or were a landscaper, this was what you used. Mine was a Craftsman (good ol' Sears), and it cut like a champion.

When I was growing up dad had a really old one like this where you manually sharpened the blades, and when I'd get bored, and tired of my PS1 ,and hot wheels. Id go run around the yard with that 😂 real exciting stuff , I know. 😅

I grew up in the 70's and 80's!!!!! THIS is how WE mowed OUR Lawns Back in the Day!!! THAT is just a modernized version of the original Lawn mower!!!

Push mowers are awesome for a workout. I wish i still had a lawn to mow . I had a riding mower and a analog push mower old school and it gives you a good arm and stomach workout.

I haven’t seen one of those in almost 30 years. My great grandmother use to own one. We use to think it was fun to mow her grass when we visited her. It was just the handles, the blades and wheels. They didn’t have all that fancy protection stuff around the blade and the guard to stop the grass from flinging all over you. Lol I miss the simpler times.

I have a really really old reel mower. Cleaned it up last year and sharpen the blades and that thing Cuts better than any gas mower I've used. It's a really good workout

I have a reel mower and i love it. Livin in the city and I don't know how to do small engine repair. Plus don't have to buy gas, plus I get a free workout out of the deal. For me it's a win.

The old fashioned mowers I haven't seen one of those since I was a kid in the early eighties.

I bought one. Just used it today. What a workout! I love it though. Not too disturbing for the neighbors when I mow early or late. To me, it’s better. I need the upper body workout. And I have a bill in my front yard, so the way I do it gets an Ab workout too.

I remember the old ones my dad had made out of wood. It's amazing how old technology is making a comeback. My dad even a bought a second hand electric lawn mower from a guy who built it. That was back in the early 80s. That mower was silent! Every so often people would stop on the side of the road wanting to buy it from him.

I used that kind when I was a kid. I was so glad when we go the pull cord with the assisted push. Or whatever it was called. Lol

That style of reel mower has been around for years. And still gives the best cut grass!

Those are best to use before grass gets too tall and then to keep on it every couple days

My childhood… my mom would make me use one of those to mow our front and back lawns. It took me 4 hours every week😂

Used this for 2 years on my 5000sq ft lawn. Cut at 1", mowed 3 times a week, if you don't let your yard get over grown it's an easy time. I upgraded to a gas reel mower eventually.

Little tip. Reel mowers work better when you start cutting if the grass is a few inches taller than you want it. If you let your grass get overgrown, you will hate that reel mower. A rotary mower, where the blade spins in a circle like a fan, will work better if the grass is over a certain height. For ex 5in. Reel mowers work great if the grass is under 5in to start.

I grow up with that. No cover on top. But after many yrs. Dad got electric mower with extension cord. Ran over 50 times there was black tape every 6” inches.

Great mower, only downside is it throws the clippings forward into the uncut grass therefore making it cut more making it tougher to cut. I had one and I broke the shield so it went forward and the grass came out the back. Then I eventually just took it off and put slightly bigger front wheels because on the shortest setting it gouged my yard

Reel type mowers are really nice for a smooth finish on a lawn. Just vcan't let the grass get too high or it will choke. I used one for years as a kid. My father actually bout a gas powered reel type mower and it mowed a really smooth lawn.

Those things are for maintaining your lawn. Like mow it every week or maybe every 5 days. If you let it go to seed your screwed. Also those mowers are super healthy for your lawn if you really care how it looks.

I think you have to enjoy mowing and have a pretty small yard to want to use one of those. I still have mine I bought over 10 years ago but it just sits collecting dust now that I have about 3 acres to mow.

I have one of these, and I love it, but I have a gas mower for when the weather prevents me from mowing for too long. I've honestly never seen a standard mower make cuts as clean as these.

I have one exactly like this. It’s a Fiskars mower. And you can mow barefoot with it too. Just pick up twigs before you mow because twigs will abruptly stop the mower.
