After experiencing what life is like as a regular ol’ ironman and starting one of my longest grinds thus far (the corrupted gauntlet) I decided to lock myself in the region of Varlamore (specifically the Sunset Coast) until the release of sailing.

This video went through 3 iterations and 1 complete mic reset but I somehow got it done. I originally started this account fully committed to the “xtreme” ruleset but with the mindset of keeping it fun to play and video friendly (plus a few mistakes here and there) I decided to label it as “semi xtreme”. Is it more of a vanilla+?? Idk. Let me know what you think about the new series! :)

I really like the name. A lot of accounts name it wholly after the starting chunk which doesn't make sense after a few unlocks anymore, but Sun Chunks is the whole of Varlamore which makes it a lot more continuous.

Thank you! I had the exact same thought when coming up with the name. Eventually I'll leave Varlamore and the name will make less sense but for the time being it just works :)

Subbed within 90 seconds from that intro, can never have too many "xtreme" accounts as they tend to long grinds and long waits for episodes. As someone that hasn't played since the mid 2000s I'm completely unaware of what Varlamore holds and I'm looking forward to what is in store from your series

I'm honestly liking how the chunk accounts have veered away from excessively long grinds and it seems like every series that have chosen to do so are happier because of it. I'd rather have a long lasting series where the content continues to come than be a stickler for the "xtreme rules" and watch another interesting chunk series fade out from burnout.

I don’t know why KZfaq never recommended your channel before, but I’m glad it did with this new chunk series! If you plan on going for all drops from monsters then I’d consider that “extreme” whether you have an exception for bosses or not. either way, looking forward to the series and checking out your channel!

Yeah, chunk locked series are some of my favorite osrs content. I promise I won’t quit randomly, and in fact, that’s exactly why I went for more of a based on xtreme/play for fun priority so I don’t burnout and hate grinding the account.

I replied to a comment about that somewhere but basically I didn't want to make the Herblore exception since it would have required a lot of "unethical" experience. I also still have no idea if it's even really necessary and it would be much cooler to reach Taverley eventually.

I'm not entirely sure but as far as I'm concerned just acquiring and equipping it is good enough. I don't have access to a bank either so it would be a permanent lost inventory slot as well :/

A lot of them do. I just wanted as few exceptions as possible and it would be a lot nicer to unlock that as a skill if I could reach those chunks.

Hypothesis: I'm guessing unarmed is "better" than a bronze axe/pick because you attack faster and they don't add enough to offset that

I just checked the dps calculator and you're 100% right, even with higher stats unarmed is still about 10% (or more, depending on the monster) dps than either bronze tool. It's almost on par with an iron weapon which is crazy, TIL.

@@DripQuestYT Nice! Yeah and there's something called overkill DPS which I don't fully understand but probably factors in here too. The fact that the chunk picker knew that and calculated off DPS instead of stats is extremely interesting and gives some insight on how it works. Yet another W for Source Chunk.

There isn't a way to train crafting in the sunset coast, you need access to a furnace to make molten glass.

No, I didn't want to make an exception for it until I could actually kill the mobs without cheese/a lot of 'unethical' xp. At this point though, I'm not sure if it's even 100% necessary since my only real need for herblore would be maybe perilous moons or the colosseum (both of which are huge ???'s for the account already).

@@DripQuestYT 27k seagulls for 52 prayer, 2m thieving xp on average for Rocky and the easy part is 58 cooking but I get the gp I need for that from thieving And thank you! I'll keep watching your videos as well I just got so surprised seeing someone had the same idea :D Love your editing style :) Not looking forward to Beaver from regular trees next chunk though... 😅
