My new Maxspect Skimmer Failed!

Күн бұрынNot even 2 months in and it failed! Hope to have it back soon! Sand bed is still messy bit everything else seems to be fine

In my experiences. A new tank will almost always get cyano even if you have low nutrients. Get Chemiclean and dose it once. then after the treatment max dose some nitrifying bacteria. If you're maintaining your tank well, then cyano should not come back. This is very common on new tanks. just bite the bullet and chemiclean it. if it comes back then you have some other underlying problems with the tank.

Is the sandbed coated dinoflagellates not algae? (mainly asking because the star fish is avoiding it and your nitrates read 0)

I think I said Nitrates in error. It's my Phosphates that are reading 0. Yes definitely algae... the the Dino's think before :( and not the same. :)

Dr Tim’s waste away gel strips worked for me in removing algae from the sand bed

Frustrating when we pay premium for sub-par equipment!! I just did my first ICP test and found out my phosphates were sky high! Everything else within reason but it surprised me because my tests said normal...so now running phosban!

It is frustrating!!! Ah well can always be worse... I haven't done an ICP test but was thinking about it..

how things went with maxspect skimmer? I am thinking to buy one... but not sure if its a great move, I'm using OCTO Regal 200S, but it went really noisy at some point, annoying me a lot so I'm thinking to send it back or sell it back to the seller and buy a new one...

Hi there, I am very impressed with this skimmer! It the most quiet skimmer I think I have owned. It's a work horse and well built. I really don't have anything negative to say about this product. I would recommend it to anyone. Hope this helps!

@@My525XLRedSeaReefer Thanks a lot, Im sending back my Octo 200 back yesterday and see if they could fix the noise, I hope they do so I don't have to buy a new skimmer..! But if I do I will probably buy Maxspect skimmer

It is frustrating,. I hope you are able to get it resolved. I ended up getting the controller back and has been work fine since.. knock on wood!

@@ZenrioBelieve yes the maintenance light was on and would not power up. I contacted them and they said to send in the controller and then sent me back a new one.
