My new Munbyn label printer! Let's unbox, package online orders, print Australia post labels & more

I have been looking to buy a new Thermal printer for a while so when Munbyn reached out to see if I wanted to test their printer, I said yes. I had already done a lot of research and thought this would fit all my requirements for a printer and was super excited to test it. Many use these printers to print shipping labels but it can do so much more. Watch me unbox it and show you how easy it is to set up and then print shipping and product labels.
The printer works with MAC, Windows and ChromeOS. If you are using Google Chrome, you don't need to install the printer driver, just add the extension - Munbyn Printer Extension, you can print directly from Google Chrome. Here is the link to the extension: chrome.google.com/webstore/de...
If you are interested in the printer, check out these links. Thank you for this excellent review, I bought one after watching this and am very happy. With the express post label issue. Australia post can supply to business customers a roll of express post tape which I stick across the top of the label - better than a printed one. Just ask at your local PO it’s free

Thank you. I love my printer and haven't had any issues. The only complaint I have is that when you load new size labels, it spools out a label that is wasted. I've tried their method to stop this, but it doesn't always work

Hi, definitely found this very helpful. Just wanted to ask if Auspost has ever had any issues scanning the barcodes printed on the munbyn or if they take longer to scan as I do have quite a few parcels and always just printed them on paper.

Thank you for watching. I don't believe there are any issues with it scanning. The ladies that scan my parcels in have never said anything. I think I struggled on my first scan because my camera was dirty.

Thanks for sharing this video. I have recently purchased one of these printers and wanted to see it in use before I unbox to get some idea of what I will be needing to do. Please may I ask what the sample bags are called that you use? I use thermal seal bags but they are glossy poly bags and don't look as nice as the ones you use. Thank you 🙂

No I don't think it will especially if you have to have extra custom forms. I also can't see the A6 settings in AP for international shipping so it will probably always want to print on A4

I'm not too familiar with how the labels print in NZ from your postal office. Best to jump on the website and contact directly. I know they have different printers for different postal systems around the world

So would you recommend this one to print water resistant labels for products like lip gloss or whipped scrub? Do they have labels that would work for that?

As long as you buy good quality thermal labels, they should be waterproof. This is why you can stick them on the outside of shipping boxes. You have to remember that they will only print black and white and most thermal labels will fade over time like receipts from shops which are also thermal printed. So you have to think about how long a product would be used for.

Hi! I've been looking for a parcel label printer for my small business, I use Auspost too but 90% of my orders are overseas, do you think it's possible to be able to print international labels or am I out of luck? 😅 Thanks again!

International labels usually need to be printed on A4 paper so a thermal printer won't be of use for that I'm afraid.

It will over time as the paper is sensitive to heat. Similar to how receipts from stores will go black when near heat

Hi Keely hoping you see this I see it’s an older video. Am I right that unless you purchase an additional app in shopify that the only way to print aus post labels is to manually enter each customers details into my post account?

Unfortunately AP don't have a direct integration into their MyPost so if you want to integrate, you do need to pay a 3rd party provider. However, you can upload bulk information into AP mypost. Go to Orders and there is a button for bulk import. You can create a CSV file in shopify, and paste the information into the AP file then upload. I've not used this feature yet

Hi i bought this label printer but wen i print the labels are too smal and dont fill the whole label sheet. Ive chnaged it to 4x6 and its not working. Would u know how to fix this issue?

You need to make sure your design is the right size. Without knowing more like what you use to design in, it's hard to say how to fix it.

Don't thermal labels fade easily and turn black under heat?

Much of it comes down to the quality of the label and darkness of print. Thermal labels will fade over time like a receipt from the shop. This takes months though. As for going black from heat, that is how thermal printing happens. Applying direct heat to the paper. If you put a hot object on the paper, it will mark it but environmental heat won't affect it.

What is the difference between a direct thermal label and something else? I thought all thermal labels were the same.

A direct thermal directly prints to special paper using heat. Thermal transfer printers use a ribbon and transfer the ink to paper with heat. Thermal transfers are longer lasting images, but you need to replace the ribbon.
