Not promoting another KZfaqr, but Dave’s Garage has several videos about lifter failures in Hemi engines. It looks like the roller breaks out of the lifter and the damaged lifter striking the cam makes the tickling noise which in turn damages the camshaft. The particular cam lobe where most of the trouble occurs receives less oil than the rest of the cam when the engine is idling which can be part of the problem as well.

It’s speculation based on observation and a change RAM made to the lifters, but it hasn’t been proven to be the root cause yet; people have replaced the lifters with a different design with mixed results. Most commonly advocated preventative method to prevent the lifter failure is to either use an oil with special (teflon?) additives like Redline, or to add the additives yourself like LubeGard BioTech each oil change.

All hemis should've came with a hellcat oil pump because the root of the problem is low oil pressure at idle. This is pretty much proven by the extremely high rate of lifter failures found in police/service vehicles. Either swap the oil pump, or don't idle.

The 5.7’s and 6.4’s are notorious for lifter/camshaft failures. It’s widely known and very very common. Best thing you can do for your Hemi is change oil every 5k miles and DO NOT SIT AND IDLE AT LOWER OIL PRESSURES OFTEN. If you neglect a Hemi in either of those ways, they WILL eat lifters and destroy the camshaft! Warming up a Hemi engine is not what you should do. Start up the engine and drive away.

My only question on the 6.4 Hemi lifter problem is do you idle the motor a lot. That is the short coming of the Hemi engine. Long idle times can starve the cam of oil over time. Remote start your engine and let it warm up for extended times is a problem also. The 6,4 hemi has a more robust valve train.

EVs don't need Emissions equipment, ICE become too complicated going forward from now, by 2030 BEVs will be the vehicle of choice , that is 5 years from now , the ICE Bucket you buy today won't have any RESALE value, imagine that , $50,000 to $70,000 truck not saleable A SCANT 5 YEARS FROM TODAY!🤔...🤣

@Auralio… Actually, the exact opposite is going to happen. The state laws as written and voted by many states (all blue states), claim that ICE vehicles by a particular Model Year are allowed to be registered (that is 2034 MY in Washington state for example). So after MY 2034 you will not be able to register new ICE vehicles. Not even BEV only full EV but you can register used ICE. At that point any used ICE (older than 2035 MY) will have an increased value because the supply of ICE will be cut off artificially at MY 2034. You know what happens when supply is lower than demand? Prices go up.

I disagree, only downside of ev trucks is the weight, so probably less payload and limited range. But an EV is going to be the best at towing because of the stability the battery weight and wei g ht distribution it provides plus the electric torque, if you only need to tow as far as a single charge will take you.

The first guy, it shocks me that people would stick to the same brand after having a crappy experience. The Chevy Cruze is a turd but why would you so easily get a Colorado or Canyon? I’d be looking at a Frontier or Tacoma. But living in Michigan I guess the big 3 have everyone locked down pretty well. The electric car argument is interesting. I do agree it’s politicalized. The other issue though is anyone 18-40 can’t afford a house. I do not see how apartment complexes will add chargers… they won’t. It’s easy for home owners to potentially add a charging port but for most it’s not. Luckily when we built our house two years ago, we had them add the wiring. But most people my age can’t afford a home let alone buying an electric car where you charge it at your own place. For Elizabeth, get the Forester. The Chevy Trax or Equinox is a turd. Even the Mazda CX5, Honda CRV or RAv4 would all be better options than the Chevy. Lastly, EVs are great. Not against them but I do wish more development was put into hydrogen. There’s so many upsides to going with hydrogen, but it takes time and research.

The main culprits for 6.4 and 5.7 Hemi cam and lifter problems are extended idling and also extended oil change intervals. If you don’t idle them all day and change your oil at 3k miles you will most likely not have any issues with the lifters chewing the cam up. Literally everyone should change their oil at 3k miles and limit idling . Most new engines have variable displacement oil pumps or are direct injected turbo motors. Direct injection and turbo motors are notorious for oil dilution. Variable pumps don’t lubricate engines properly if you idle hence why idling is bad. 10k intervals are horse crap and destroy your engine. The manufacturer doesn’t care if it dies out of warranty. Do not listen to the manufacturer!! Change oil often and early!

The truth is currently about 10% of all vehicles on the road and at the end of 2025 we should have over 21% EV adoption by the general public. That 21% is considered the breaking point for new technology adoption. Like the Iphone for example took a couple years to have 21% of the market and then once it had that point it became excepted by the masses and not they just the early adopters. Or you can even go back to Personal Computers and the same curve happens. Bascially even at a slower rate projections for the US is on track to have over 50% EV adoption by 2030. That roughly in 5 yrs over half the cars/trucks on the road will be EVs. I know in the last 5-6months there is a lot of headlines stating Americans are turning their backs on EVs, but the stats dont back those narratives. Not trying being political on this but just stating the facts.

Legacy auto are in a catch 22, they make money on ICE vehicles and loose money on BEVs,which require LESS MAINTENANCE that Stealerships SOURCE OF INCOME/ LIVE ON The ICE truck they sell today for $60,000wont have resale value come 2030, the time BEVs become CHEAPER than ICE buckets.

Full EV adoption rate in USA last quarter was 8.1%. Good luck getting that up to 21% by end of 2025. It’s pretty flat.

What statistics are you citing, because everything I have seen shows that EV adoption has stagnated and now the EV market has built too many unsold units, causing manufacturers to begin backing out of the market. You may see a slight boost as the current EV’s are sold for a lose to get rid of them, but unless the government suddenly forces taxpayers to cover the costs, only the initial owners and early adopters will keep buying them at full cost which will not cause the adoption rate to move at all.

@@Cloud30000 only the legacy autos are selling at a loss, Tesla has high margins and can profit even as it lowers its prices. IN CHINA IT WAS REPORTED ONLY Li AUTO AND BYD MADE PROFITS FROM THEIR EVS , TESLA STILL MADE MONEY EVEN DURING THE PRICE WARS IT STARTED , A TEARDOWN REPORT BY Munro Associates of the mod3 in 2017 revealed Tesla had nearly 30% margins on that car, Ford loses around $30,000 / Lightning EV it sells, Tesla Cybtrk probably sells @ $15,000 to $20,000 Profit / unit.

EVs only make sense in cities, everywhere else does not make sense.

That’s just not true. If you live on a farm or ranch, not having to go to a gas station can be helpful, as does having the high torque motors. The only thing current EV’s are not great for are extended highway driving. But for the vast majority of people who drive less than 50 miles a day, an EV makes far more sense than an ICE powered vehicle. So many people, myself included, think they need 700 miles of driving ability (my diesel can go up to 750 miles per tank) for the 2 or 3 times a year that they actually drive long distances. But I could, as could most other people, rent a gasser or diesel truck or suv for these occasional uses and buy something more efficient for everyday use.

@JMacGyver1 I bet there are farmers out there that would not switch to EVs maybe some nerdy ones would switch. And it is true EVs only make sense in cities that's a fact. Also when storms hit a state EVs are trash in those cases. Like what happened in Florida when so many EVs caught fire when Florida got hit with a hurricane most EVs caught fire so. You are one of those people who like EVs good for you not everyone is gonna agree with EV people. Don't push EVs on to people and don't eliminate gas or diesel hybrids are the future not EVs so.

@@texandy89 Do you really believe that MOST EV’s caught fire because of a hurricane? I’m not sure what news you’re watching, because that is just NOT true. And you do know that gas stations close down when there is no power. I don’t own an EV, yet, but I do realize that it is the future, both for city dwellers and those in rural areas. Let’s come back in 10 years and see who is more right…

If you can’t charge at home like over 50% of the US population, then EV’s don’t make sense.
