Losing 50+ pounds and eating healthy pulled me back from the brink of heart issues I was developing last year. But just as I was basking in that success I got news that decades of bad eating and being overweight had caught up with me in the form of another unpleasant surprise.

Thanks so much! A few days after my chemo infusion I wasn't so sure but now that I am feeling normal again I have to admit my doctor seems right that I can handle this better now than to have to do it when I am older.

I appreciate that- thank you! And my brother said the same thing. He thinks that by weighing 195 instead of 275 and having improved my heart health I am coming into this challenge with much better odds.

Sounds like you have a really good plan. We love you so keep us informed. Watch comedies, I have heard that laughing raises your immune system. Of course, I was raised in Marin County, Ca....does it show ? Lol

Thanks Mia! I agree that attitude and especially laughter can help the immune system. We have just started watching a funny series on Netflix- "Kim's Convenience" Other than Roxanna's K-Pop obsession we don't have any connection to Korean culture but the show is universally hilarious.

parristx Don’t forget Jack Whitehall’s : Travels With My Father. I think it was season 1 that was in Southeast Asia - a scene where Michael gets a portrait drawn. Much of the comedy is typical British but the portrait scene - I almost fell out of my chair. Also, there was a clown festival in one episode- whoever did the costumes was genius -lol so funny. Good luck buddy - keep laughing 😂

Thanks for the kind words. Two years ago right now I was in the middle of my chemo treatment. I have bounced back pretty well from most of the side effects. Wishing you good luck in your treatment!

Thanks Rob. I would like to have some good of it. I will go back and cover things from the start as well as try and tie it in with my other health issues (they are connected!) and explain how my diet and lifestyle changes can maybe help with this.

That's very kind Heather, thank you! I just came from my 2-week post infusion blood work visit and my white blood cell count (which was at zero a week ago) is now back to normal. So they think I am tolerating the chemo well- even if my hair isn't. : )

Have you looked at IMRT? I did that treatment about 6 years ago and I did not have any side effects I would do the Radiation in the morning and then go for a 5 mile walk after. I felt great the whole time. The cancer is gone and to this day I have had no after effects. Good luck and sorry to say this but welcome to the club.

Thanks for the suggestion- I did read up on that. After the chemo I will see what seems to be the best next step. It takes me about two weeks after each infusion before I can get back up to a 5-mile walk.

Yes hearing cancer is never an easy thing, but on the upside prostate cancer tends to be among the least aggressive cancers. Good luck and you will beat it.

A few days after my first chemo infusion were rough- but now two weeks out I am feeling mostly normal. And I think my brother did that review back in 2012 or 2013. LONG ago! I wonder if he still has it? : )

Oh shite! You're going to be okay. After losing the weight you get this crapper. I think with your positive attitude and a drive to be there for your family, your outcome looks great. Do some research in regards to the chemotherapy. I've seen and read it is not the best of options. One of those government type money making things, as crappy as that sounds. Honestly, my prayers are with you and your family. I do pray for your healing and that you are a man of God and Jesus Christ. Love you and yours. God bless!

Thank you! I like the track record of my doctor who has helped other younger guys with prostate cancer get through it. So we will see if I am actually a "younger guy" and it works for me too. : )

I remember reading (about 2-3years ago) that some docs had decent success treating enlarged prostates with Botox (just prior to surgery). Please discuss this with your doctors. Best,

Thanks Fizzy- I think I am managing to be more positive now. It was harder earlier on. And no symptoms. Just a yearly checkup PSA test caught it. Unfortunately it had been a number of years since I had last had that test or it would likely have been caught sooner.

My father is a prostate cancer survivor. He was diagnosed 4 years after he had a massive stroke, so he wasn't able to undergo aggressive treatments for it and the doctor recommended radiation. He was 61 when he was diagnosed. He's now 82. I will be keeping you in my prayers and know that you will be in remission before you know it. 🙏
