Welcome back to another productive night routine video (if you couldn't tell it's meant to complement the one from a month ago hehe)! Today I’m showing you my typical night routine now that I'm done with university (for the time being)- most of the footage was filmed on the same day, but some was from different days to make this video as fun and cozy as possible!🥰 It includes hobbies, family time, self care, reading, and much more :)

Hi Estella! I'm a student going into grade 8, in a month. I've been a straight A student for as long as I remember but this past year has changed everything for me. I'm unable to focus on anything and continue to get grades that disappoint me. I hope you’re starting to do better now! I lost my mojo during the third semester of the pandemic, at which point I was a 3rd year university student. Somehow I finished another year of college, then did one year of a masters program which I ended up quitting, and now I’m a few months into a job search and PhD application goo. While I’m still working on getting my mojo back, a few things have REALLY helped me: identifying the things which changed around the time I lost my mojo and putting something similar back in. Baby steps seems to be the real key towards making change: you can’t make a new lifestyle in a day, you start with putting in one little piece of a routine in at a time, then staying there until you’re comfortable with that previous step, then add on the next! The thing I’m working on right now is connecting my morning coffee routine with 30-45 minutes or review for the physics GRE, and I have an alternate to listen to a podcast detailing current science news if I have too much of a migraine and can’t look at a page or a screen. I think that next I’m going to start connecting my physical therapy exercises with lunch…

Aww Estella, I'm so happy you've started riding! It can be a truly fantastic sport if your heart is into it and you have a great instructor I'm 14 and have been riding for 4 years and I now live on a farm with 7 horses! here are some posting tips: 1. The secret to horse riding is HEELS DOWN! You'll already know this but be sure to always keep it in mind. It really helps to balance/center your body because as soon as your heels are up, you're off balance which isn't great for you or your horse. 2. Try your best to keep your hands and legs still too. 3. In the beginning tho, just focus on getting yourself out of the saddle - you should rise up and forward, and then sit down very softly so as not to put your off balance and then hurt your horse. It's helpful to have someone lead you in the beginning so you don't have to worry about steering etc. 4. Make sure to always look up and forward. Same with the heels, it balances you. 5. Do not lean forward or backward, just sit up straight and try to feel soft and relaxed yet poised - easier said than done tho 6. Make sure to push yourself up using your stomach muscles and not rely on the reins. this will actually put you off balance and hurt your horse sometimes too! 7. Use the natural bounce to push you up but then try to keep straight and sit down gently. 8. get a rhythm going!! You can even say 'up down, up down' in your head or out loud to keep track of your movements. 9. Don't forget that everyone started out as a beginner and congratulate yourself for getting out there and trying. Riding isn't easy. Once you learn to post the trot, you can work on sitting it, and then you will learn all about your trotting diagonal. But don't worry about that for now 😁 You inspire me so much and I just LOVE your channel! Its SO COOL to see you riding!!! I am thinking about opening my barn up for lessons (I've ridden my whole life and there's a few kids in the neighborhood who are always hanging on the fence petting the horses) As for tips with posting, go slower than you think. My instructor always said "you shouldn't be working harder than the horse". You can also try sitting on a yoga ball in the position you do a horse and practice posting. a LOT of it is core strength and being able to control how fast you rise and fall (The abductor muscles in your upper inner thigh specifically are used to help keep you steady) I also noticed that you seem to have your toes pointed down. Try putting your weight into your heel, it will act as an anchor and keep you more stable (you can practice by standing on the bottom step of the stairs with the ball of your foot on the edge and reach your heels down. you should feel it in your calves.) You could also try asking your instructor to put your sturrips up a bit as they seem a bit long so you may be finding it difficult to balance. Although I'm judging that on a 15 second clip.

Omg I love that you’re riding horses now! I’ve been an equestrian of almost 5 years and I love seeing new people start. I’m not really good at tips, other than basic stuff like heels down, sit up tall, leg on, and shoulders back (not very helpful lol). But your feet were almost all the way through the stirrups. The stirrups sit in the ball of your foot so your heels can be down. It takes a while to get this though. Not kidding when I say it took me 2 years to always have my heels down 😭😭. And instead of leaning forward over the horses neck, sit up tall. Your shoulders should line up with your hips and your heels. You should also get some riding boots! Not full tall boots yet bc those are expensive and not necessary for beginners. But just some short boots and half chaps to help grip. Those two things together are a lot cheaper than tall boots lol. This is all the tips I have as an equestrian of 5 years! Good luck to you!

Yeah the “heels down” part is definitely tricky for me 😅 And thanks for the boots suggestions!! I’ve been using some old boots I had when I was a teen (that are now kinda too small & dilapidated lol) so I’m definitely planning on getting some real riding boots. I’ll look for some shorter ones like you mentioned- thanks so much!!🥰🫶

Hey Estella! I know this video was posted 2 months ago but if you're still struggling a bit with doing a posting trot, here are some tips that helped me: 1. Use your thighs for a posting trot, squeeze the seat, and use your thighs to move up then relax to move back down into the seat. do this with a rhythm. 2. Find the horse's rhythm. A trot's rhythm is 2 because the horse moves two legs at the same time, so basically go up for 1 and back into the seat for 2. i.e. 1, two legs move(go up). 2, the other 2 legs move(relax and move down).

I can’t believe you’re starting to ride!! I’ve followed you since around 2020 so it’s crazy to see you doing something that I also do 😭. For the trot instead of putting so much weight in your seat, put more weight on your stirrups. This will also help you not bounce around as much!! 🫶🏻

Omg!!! I loved playing the Barbie horse game so much as a kid!! I'm so glad your little brother is enjoying it! That game made me into such an animal lover and now I'm in college studying to be a veterinarian!!
