Maybe try to contact Nintendo and see how they might fix that? I never seen an Orange Screen like that happened before.

Hey Shawn, my Splatoon 3 special edition Switch did that a little while back, but luckily came back on. I had read on a forum where this guy had the same issue, he called Nintendo, and they told him it means one of 2 things. Hardware failure somewhere, or if your Internet drops even for a second while it's in sleep mode, it can also cause the orange screen. You are not alone.

I have literally just got this switch last year for Christmas. you have just saved my life I’ve had a terrible experience with switches going bad on me mine the OLED special Zelda tears of the kingdom one

I heard one way to get that Orange Screen is when the Switch is downloading content from the internet and it gets disconnected or the internet connection is slow.

It is caused by a faulty Wifi IC; a chip that has been overheated when the solder has cracked and the only way to fix the problem; is to reflow the chip that is causing this issue with a heat gun

Either you have a faulty WI-FI IC or the switch is not seated in the dock correctly. You will need to send your switches out to repair if it is a WiFi IC issue. The only way to fix it temporarily is to hard reset it but to fix it completely you need to send them in. I never had this issue for any of my switches yet but it is very weird. I’ve seen people have issues start happening like the battery charge percentage kept changing which is the result of not having your switch plugged in for several months. Most issues can be fixed by hard resetting or leaving your switch turned off and/ or plugged in for a few hours.

@@DigiPen92 I think joy con and pro controller charging docks are safe especially if they are licensed by Nintendo. I used one of those myself. Now for the switch itself charging docks I wouldn’t really trust since they could very well brick your system.

do you reckon the faulty wi fi ic causes issues even when not using anything that requires wifi? i had this orange screen today and my wifi hasn't been working for a while, but i also really don't need it - so if the issue doesn't really affect offline performance of the console i would be able to avoid fixing it (for now). also excuse me if this is a dumb question, but is the wi fi ic involved in the switch's wired internet connection process, or would that work just fine despite the damage?

@@pr-pc8fq I’m not an expert but I’m pretty sure your system may have now lost connection since it can’t find any WiFi connection. It could’ve tried updating but couldn’t get a connection. You would need to reboot your switch by holding it down for 12 seconds or until the system successfully turns off to fix the orange screen. Wired connection only works as long as you actually have WiFi if not, it’s only wireless offline connection that should work. If your system can’t connect to the WiFi network at all then that is when you should get it repaired. You could try connecting your switch to a hotspot and see if it can connect to that.

I’ve never come across this before. Granted we’ve only got our first Switch back around Christmas 2020, but I do know about holding the power button until it goes black as I’ve done it before when it froze up. An orange screen sounds scary. Thanks for the info.

The problem why this happens is because there’s a critical startup error in the startup process and yesterday I got that screen and tried the same method and it turned on, but then it became orange again

I've got the same orange screen issue. Had it a few months back and I was able to resolve it with a few hard reboots like in this video. It happened again the other day and no amount of hard reboots have resolved it

While mine didn't have an orange screen, it did actually freeze up and had a black screen when I was on the KZfaq app on it. It happened just once, but that was still very weird.

Had that Problem with my Switch oled. I was able to hold The Power Button for about 15 Seconds and it would reboot and Work again

I think it’s because it overheats. It only happens when the system is docked.

if you need to do the hold in the software side of stuff is stuck. can you do a firmware reset on a stock switch? supposedly the orange screen is like the amiga guru meditation or windows bsod equivalent, kernel panic.

I had a switch for 2 years. A couple of weeks ago my screen went solid blue and I can’t do a hard reset and it won’t go into safe mode. I just bought a switch oled and this video has me worried. Nintendo needs to make these machines more rugged.

My switch has done that a few times where it’s just a black screen and a I always think it’s bricked but I do the hold power thing than it works , I don’t know ether but it does it once in a while not too often

I've never seen the orange screen, but I have had mine crash and freeze up whatever was on screen, which I fixed with a hard reset as well.
