@@MattiaChiappa Just to follow up on this----getting those kinds of measured tremolos seems to be a real hole in the sample market which nobody has filled. I've been wanting a really comprehensive measured tremolo library for years, and nothing ever happens. I'm sure lots of people would love one, and would pay top dollar for something comprehensive and useful. Just something to consider....

Hi guys, I really appreciate that you like these virtual instruments 😁 Selling these is not as easy as it may seem. At the moment I simply have too little content and as much as I would like investing to expand these instruments and make more patches, we’d be talking about quite a big sum. I have very little experience producing sampled instruments and I know absolutely nothing about the inner works of sample library companies, or selling digital products even. To make these market ready I’d need at least to put together a small team of people that can help me and that’s also going to be a cost. I could try and crow found this if there’s an interest but right now it seems quite a big undertaking and a very risky one too. Believe me, I had in my mind for a while and I’d love to do this eventually but when I do, I don’t want to let anybody down. If anybody reading this has any experience with any of the above and wants offer some advise please reach out to me! I’ll pin this discussion so that hopefully more people will read it.

Tip! When in Low latency mode if you are bussing for effects, you can select “low latency safe” mode. This keeps that selected bus sending to that effect ie reverb. Simply click on the send knob then select. You must first be in low latency mode.

You know, for all the 'stuff' you have there, it's the stuff you write that really exemplifys what the most important thing to have correct is all about. And that's what always seems to be just beyond my grasp - quality orchestration. Without that, all the stuff can sound pretty miserable. You're super talented. Thanks for your videos. Btw, I just know you have an choir hiding in there somewhere. 😉

now this is a fantastic sounding template, with a clear goal in mind - homogeneity, instead of the common compulsive need to add as many tracks and options as possible into a template and run 20 servers to do just that. great work, definitely the most sensible and coherent template i've seen on here. midi composers sometimes forget that it's all about composing and not micro managing 2500 tracks. and i also speak for myself here..

Mattia - I've been composing for years. I'm curious so I listen to a lot of other composer's work, especially in the mockup world. I'll go out on a limb and say you produce some of the best I've heard. Given all my experience, I still find myself wanting to understand motivations for your creative choices and of your chosen set of tools. Strangely enough, I feel the Cinematic Studio series and Sample Modeling have so much going for it. More importantly, I thank you for placing the most emphasis on orchestration in general in your videos. Such knowledge of instrumentation and blending stands above all tools. May I ask, do you ever use pencil and paper?
@MattiaChiappa

Thanks! I did do some experimentation in the past but I quickly came to the realization that I’m not that kind musician. My sight reading is atrocious. Well that’s an understatement… My sight reading is near non existent and while I can read, it takes me some time to figure things out and that doesn’t help. Piano is my also my third instrument and I can’t play at the same level I write, adding an extra layer of difficulty if I want to check parts against each other. In short without modern technology to help me compose with a sequencer I would be very limited. I’ve been working on improving but being busy makes it difficult to be consistent and I feel like I’ll never reach the level I aspire. I envy people with formal training but hey we do the most with what we’ve got 😁

@@MattiaChiappa I 110% resonate with this, it is exactly how I feel. I am not a trained pianist, yet it's the tool I use to write. My process is basically listening to my brain spitting ideas out that I try to capture with my voice, and then over many hours I attempt to capture that same energy and feeling with technology because I absolutely cannot perform it myself. I will have so many moments where rudimentary harmonic content will sound brand new to me. Once a foundation gets established, everything else is throwing paint against a wall and wiping away excess colors. Most of the time, I have no idea what I did once I'm removed about 2 weeks from something, it's fun!

In your own first str and winds patch, instead of using the mod wheel to go from STR to STR&winds, if you went from STR to winds you would have more balancing options. For example you could make it all winds or just light strings with winds dominance.
@MattiaChiappa
@MattiaChiappa Жыл бұрын
Not really though, these ensambles are not multi. What I like about it is that they were sampled at the same time. The balance is baked into the samples.
@tonyr.4778
@tonyr.4778 Жыл бұрын
@@MattiaChiappaat around 12:40 you demonstrate your own patch with strings and winds playing and say by turning the mod wheel down, you only hear strings and when you turn the mod wheel up you hear both. So I assumed you have two samples overlapping and the winds sample volume is controlled by the mod wheel. If you also controlled the string sample volume with the mod wheel, but opposite values, you would have more flexibility. Winds volume via MW = 0 to 128, and strings volume via MW = 128 to 0. This would allow you to tilt the patch not only towards strings only, but also winds only by going up with the MW. Or are you achieving the balance change another way?
@MattiaChiappa
@MattiaChiappa Жыл бұрын
Yeah I recorded strings and winds together. I was more interested in how the blends of certain instruments work with an environment than flexibility itself. This is something I find samples struggle to replicate. I would love one day to make my own sample library made solely by ensemble patches recorded in a similar fashion.

Really appreciate the in depth view! When balancing the levels,. Do you just move CC7 or the GUI volumes? (Kontakt etc) When you do your sequencing, wouldn't you be ruining your balance levels when needing to automate CC11 with CC1 in your mockups? Great video
@MattiaChiappa
@MattiaChiappa Жыл бұрын
I use a CC controller with faders that are mapped to different parameters. I don’t mess with espression much except for spitfire BBC. I don’t think that it alters the balance too much, just gives you a bit more wiggle room when samples are not as dynamic.

@@MattiaChiappa Thank you so much! If not CC11, what parameters do you have mapped out to balance may i ask? It's not really possible to have the same balance in every mockup in your template right? Very informative thankyou so much Mattia. How long are your average load and save times for well established projects on a template of this size? Roughly. I realise you open a blank project with all samples unloaded in the template. I mean switching between developed projects. That is seeing you are not using Vienna to host Kontakt etc. Your advice in this regards would be very useful as its very easy to spend more time watching it load than writing if its not done properly. Vienna adds in a further layer of complexity but obviously works beautifully for you without going that route.
@MattiaChiappa
@MattiaChiappa Жыл бұрын
The template loads up instantly, maybe takes a few seconds. A full project usually uses up to 180 tracks a can take maybe a minute or a little longer than that, I’m not sure. Saving takes maybe 1 or 2 seconds? I can’t tell you for sure because these times are so short I never took a notice. That was the case for my older iMac as well

Great video, Mattia. Quick question: When layering CSS 1.7 with CSSS in a single instance of Kontakt, how are you accounting for the different legato transitions of those libraries? CSS now has a low latency legato of ca. 150ms, but CSSS still has 250ms for medium speed. Are you using the legacy patches of CSSS? I’ve been struggling with this and any help is much appreciated.
