The reason I subscribed to your channel! btw, I am an East African guy living in St Paul MN, USA. We might not agree on everything Vietnam but for me, I had been following everything Vietnam since I was a kid. The distance the Vietnamese could go to preserve their dignity, against all odds to persevere, the willingness of the Vietnamese people to lose everything so as not to be a slave and kneel down to foreigners had inspired to all colonized people in Africa and beyond. They showed the world that it's better to be a lion for one day than to be a fox for a million years. Just wanna throw that in. Thank you for your story.

There are a lot of poignant stories from the end of the war that would make a good story line. I just met a man from the other day who was a military officer in the South Vietnamese army. He said when Saigon fell the US was going to airlift him to the US but his wife or girlfriend at the time didn't want to go, so he stayed back with her. He then was sent to re-education camp for 10 years. They eventually got married and moved to the US when he applied for VISA. He told me he doesn't know which is worse, staying back and go to prison for 10 years or to leave VN with nothing, in a strange land without any friends or family, not knowing the language, starting from scratch. Everyone during that era suffered some kind of traumatic event that is very interesting to hear. I've heard of a lot of harrowing events after the war with the boat people. It would be good to record everything down either with video or blog.

Sadly, some of the boat people don’t learn from the hardships and continue to commit crimes in America after several decades leaving Vietnam.

Poor guy, 10 years in a re-education camp and then starting all over again from scratch. These were resilient people in very troubled times.

This is the craziest story...man....I thought maybe you dad was American and Mom was Vietnamese...I bet you could get Vietnamese dual citizenship or at the very least a long term visa to live there, buy land etc. Do you have a Vietnamese birth certificate or anything from when you were born on the base? I will buy your book, good luck with everything man, I love Pusan btw, lived in Korea many years, peace be with you man.

Thanks for picking up a copy of my book :) It's been a crazy journey, it's unbelievable even to me and I lived it. My wife and I lived in a Vietnam while I was working there for a little bit, but Busan is our home. We can always visit there as it's fairly close to here :)

I'm happy for you brother. My family come from refugees from Iraq that were kicked out for being Jewish. War is horrible, ethnic cleansings are horrible. I'm happy there a positive aspect to your story.

I hope you and your family are safe also. My opinion on all these kinds of the things is that it starts with teaching the young people to learn to live in peace with each other. Obviously it's difficult given horrible things that happen in the past, but that's why we must learn from it.

Muslims can’t tolerate any other religion, let alone the Jews. Sadly, the Muslims are spreading and changing the fabric of the Western society we know and love.
