You missed one…make sure you’re in neutral. Many modern outboards will not let you start the engine while in gear (unless you use the emergency manual start at the flywheel).

I had an odd one with my engine not starting. it even was not getting power. I was stumped. then I took apart the gearshift and found my neutral safety switch was broken.

1997 15hp Evinrude Got spark and fuel but won't fire. By the way, mice got into the carburetor but we cleaned that up.

I have a 90hp honda that won't start been sitting for two years replaced the battery and ignition switch and starter and perks switch

my boat was running fine then one day it just started dragging and would not turn fast enough to start my battery is fully charged I also had to replace the ignition switch and really sure that the wiring was correct as the motor was dragging before I added the switch thanks for any ideas that could help get me back to running

Hey John, I am hoping you can help, I have a 1998 yamaha 40hp 2 stroke, when I bought the boat it cranked and ran perfect but needed a water pump, I changed that and then when I tried to crank it I lost all power to switch and trim, I used a jumper wire to get motor down, a week later I tried to crank and while trying to crank lost power again, I wiggled the wires to switch and got power back, then it would crank and stall after a few seconds, I put new plugs and primor bulb on still the same, next day I drained and cleaned gas tank put fresh gas in and drained carb bowls, now it won't crank at all, can you help me.

I have a problem on a suzuki df 90 A 2009.. I have no spark and the trim does not work, and when it is connected directly to the wires, then the trim works.. is it the ECM? when starting I have a long beeeep pause of 5 seconds and then a beeeep for about 3 seconds and so on..thank you

Switched boat motors 25 and a 60 now the 60 runs fine but the 25 isn’t getting power but will turn over if I jump the solenoid , won’t do anything with the key and won’t tilt ,

John, I have a 1994 Tracker Magna 17 with 75 Mercury Pro Series. I hear the clicking sound at the engine however no cranking. Based on your video I am thinking it’s the solenoid. How can I narrow it down to ensure I am buying the correct part and not wasting time and or money?

Hey, love your video. I have an old Johnson motor I think from the 60's. I got it out to the water and she was turning over wanting to start. After a few tries. It stopped turning and just died down to almost nothing. Brought it home and realized I never plugged the gas line to the engine. My little 2 and a half yr old son distracted me. The battery is new and around 12.5 fully charged. I'm getting a 1 click when trying to start it. I don't know much about boat engines at all. I'm assuming it's the solenoid or fuse. Didn't get that far too check yet. The boat place I go to, is very busy and they may keep my boat for half the summer. Wondering If I can fix it myself. If it's the solenoid, can I fix it myself?

Just bought 2019 Mako pro skiff it start with previous owner but took it out and it died on me. So replaced new gas and check the gas line have gas when prom the bub still won’t start any ideas would appreciated. Motor is 2018 mercury 60hp low mile under 30hr.
