For me, every time I have some anxiety, I hold my baby. The best advice my midwife gave me after I gave birth was "If you dont know what to do, just hold your baby". And I m doing that everytime I feel overwhelmed. ❤

I also struggled with postpartum anxiety after my first baby and it was one of the hardest things I’ve experienced. I think it’s great you’re already thinking of speaking with your therapist about that, I went to counseling for my postpartum anxiety and I found it really helpful. Here are some other things that helped me and still help when I feel anxiety creeping in again: -even if it’s not a counsellor, speak with a trusted family member/friend about your fears. Just saying it out loud can help a lot. -Find a scripture that comforts you and memorize it so you can say it back to yourself when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Some great ones I love are Psalm 42, Psalm 139, Romans 8:15, Philippians 4:6-7. -Pray about your fears and give them to the Lord. Some days I would find that I felt really peaceful after praying to the Lord once, sometimes I would need to continually pray throughout the day. Remember He is there and He listens!❤️ -Find a soothing album or make a playlist of music to listen to that brings you peace. I love Audrey Assad’s Inheritance album, she covers hymns and they’re beautiful. I did find that the postpartum anxiety was a phase for me, and that it got much better as time went on. You’re doing a great job Jess, and I will pray for you about this!

I currently have an almost 7 month old precious baby girl and I can honestly say this video was soo helpful to me! The enemy wants us thinking we’re alone and no one can relate to our fears- total lie from the pit of hell. Ive also been struggling with the same exact anxiety as yours and anxiety about something happening to her as well. Two things that have helped me: 1. Therapy 2. Remembering that she belongs to God and He knows just what she needs, even more than I do. He made her but chose me to have the blessing and privilege to birth her and care for her as long as He deems fit. Any time I have with her, I want to treasure and praise God for 💕 You’re doing great, mama! She is so blessed to have you! 😊

Jess, thank you so much for opening up about such a sensitive but important topic of postpartum anxiety. I struggle with anxiety anyway, but since having my baby boy (who is my first child) who’s almost 7 months old, it’s definitely gotten worse. i constantly worry about something happening to me then my son being without me, or something happening to him when he’s not with me- i’ve been told it’s very normal especially when it’s your first baby. it can definitely be very scary and somewhat crippling it if starts to effect your day to day life, which mine does unfortunately. i found that medical professionals told me about PP depression but not anxiety, so thank you again for being raw and open with us about your experience. i know you’ll help a lot of other parents who have or are suffering from the same thing, it makes us feel normal and not alone x

I experienced PPA a lot for the first 6months after I gave birth to my daughter last year (our first child). For me, it was mainly when I'd be taking daily showers and thinking I was hearing her crying in pain from the other room when she was actually fine with her nanny taking care of her. Or randomly having weird thoughts during the day of something happening to her. Whenever those thoughts came up, I actively spoke back to myself and said 'God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE and SOUND MIND.' I still say this to myself anytime fearful thoughts come. It really helps❤

Hey Jess, I am a mom who dealt with debilitating PPA. I didn't even know it was a thing until I made it through. Once she was sleeping in her own room if she cried I couldn't help but sprint in a panic to her side in a worry that an intruder snuck into her room. I couldn't take her for walks because I felt like someone would try to kidnap her. She is now 2yr2mo and I finally don't worry and sometimes cry because I'm fighting the thoughts that my creaking house is someone in her bedroom at night. My second baby is almost 2mo and I don't feel anything like I did with my first. Thankyou for sharing about PPA I know so many mothers needed to hear and relate to someone about it.

Ooof postpartum anxiety 😩 the more i hear women talk about it the more i see how different it is for everyone. Mine stems from sleep and unexpected moments which happen all the time with a baby!!! If anything happens with sleep that doesn’t normally happen, i panic and i can’t stop crying 😔 there are really good days and really bad moments for me. I started journaling when i start to feel anxious! I also started meds and am seeing a therapist. Devotionals help a TON and journaling where i write down what I’m feeling and what the reality is have also helped. For example, “she’s taking short naps what is the rest of the day going to look like?! What if i don’t know what to do?! Then i flip and tell myself, she’s healthy, she’s not in danger, she’ll take a longer nap eventually, she’s not going to never go to sleep, and I’ll figure out a solution!” It doesn’t stop the anxiety but it definitely helps me get over the emotional part faster.

Much like yourself, Jess, I didn't realise I had postpartum anxiety until I looked back at it 😅 I had the same thing where I just had anxiety when I was away from my baby that something bad would happen to me and they would have to grow up without me. I'm almost 6 years down the line now and I can't say that's gone away entirely however it has eased up as I've found avenues to kind of mellow out those moments when that kind of anxiety creeps in. Journaling definitely helps as an outlet for that! Thank you for always being so honest and transparent about your journey 🥺 you help us mummas feel so seen sometimes 🤍

I thought I was the only one.... I am a new first time mom of a 6 month old, and this is the EXACT fear/anxiety I have too... I feel crazy worrying about it so much, but it is so real. My worry is that if we leave our baby home with one of our family members, and we go on a date or to the store, etc. That something will happen to us and she will be parentless. Thank you for being so open about your experiences, and helping us new moms/dads understand that its okay to talk about it, and its important to get help if necessary! I completely agree with feeling worried when away from him for the same reasons you said like him growing up without me or since I'm breastfeeding. Over the months pp anxiety starts to look like trying to have everything for the next steps as baby grows. Food: variety but hoping for no weird reactions. Walking: exercises, how to encourage your baby, buying stuff to help the goal Sleeping: suddenly baby only wants contact naps, meaning that you’re not showering again today Being present: being with your baby as much as possible but then I forget to eat or drink my water 😢 I don’t have family or relatives nearby, so this is tough. I don’t feel alone because I have my baby, but then I feel that we’re both a bit lonely in a house by ourselves.

Thank you so much for sharing those anxiety thoughts because I really thought i was alone in that! My daughter is also BF and it's only taken until now (shes just turned 1) to have that thought of her living without me and my breast milk to subside a bit because food is now her main source of nutrition. She would never fall asleep with my partner before either it was only me who'd get her down to sleep so since having more food that has also changed. I have used better help too for the best part of my post partum as i had/do suffer from birth trauma PTSD, and i must say it's been a life saver for me. My therapist is also a mumma and totally understands all the random thoughts and things we go through post partum. Basically you're not alone and it's nice to know I'm not either ❤ im hoping once BF is over and my hormones go back to some sort of normal that the anxiety may calm down some more, but i mean she had a rash today and i immediately thought chickenpox so there'll always probably be something 😂 sending love 💕

Loved this vlog! I completely identify with you about the anxiety. For me it was very much a fear of something happening to my baby girl. And yeah, it got dark. Like, anytime we drove on a bridge over water, I would start obsessing over how to get my daughter out of her car seat and to safety if our car went off the bridge and sank under water. I can’t say the fear has totally left now at 8mo PP, but my trust in God has helped me not to obsess as much. He’s the sustainer of her life and mine and that helps more than any detailed emergency plan ever could. Also, with you on mint. It belongs in toothpaste and MAYBE mochas at Christmas at that’s it lol

Hey Jess Post natal anxiety effects so many women. Your body has gone through so much and your hormones have changed so much which can effect mums in so many ways. I got post natal anxiety with my first baby. Talking to a physiologist really really helped she was able to help be take a hold of my fears and thoughts. I had my second baby in November last year and I haven’t had any anxiety this time round at all. You can get through it just make sure you get the right the support. Being a mum is the best job in the world but the weight of responsibility of being a mum is unlike anything else.

I had anxiety before any of my babies but after my second my anxiety has been 10x worse and also after talking to someone about how ive been feeling they said i had postpartum depression. I spent 2 weeks after my second baby was born crying pretty much all day everyday. I think my transition from 1 to 2 babies was the hardest thing ive ever been through personally. I still 9month postpartum find it hard to share my attention with both of them. My oldest child is 3 and youngest being 9 months so ive personally found it quite hard. I miss the fun happy person i was before, i feel like not getting a break and doing just one little thing i enjoy really gets me down. I dont have the support system around me unfortunately but in saying that the thought of anyone looking after any of my children scare me, i’m currently looking at kindergartens for my oldest and that gives me such bad anxiety! i find that a walk or workout seems to just get me back into a mood i can process and deal with my emotions a little better, talking about it and not bottling it all up also helps, but if youre anything like me and feel like i bother people by talking about it all then it makes it harder again!

I had a similar experience, where I didn't know I had/was suffering with postpartum anxiety until about 7ish months postpartum. My anxieties were dark too. I had very vivid images of something bad happening to my daughter if I wasn't around her; same with something happening to me or my husband. My thoughts were just very fearful. My OB put me on medicine. With meds and time, it passed, thankfully. But it was an uphill battle for sure. And a very hard season, personally and in my marriage.

I definitely have some postpartum anxiety as well. I am almost 7 months postpartum. I have those same thoughts and fears about my son needing my milk and something happening to me. Also I have separation anxiety from my son. So you’re definitely not alone.

Your experiencing intrusive thoughts which is common in a lot of new moms. Sometimes those thoughts can get really dark. It’s definitely worth talking to your therapist about to help deal with them so it doesn’t heavily affect your everyday life.

First off, that snacky dinner is everything I am craving right now 😂 Secondly - it is so sweet, special, and sentimental that Gabe was the one to do the vow renewal ❤ I do not comment much, but I have been watching for years now and am just so happy for your ability to travel after all of the heartache and trials - God truly is the Giver of good gifts (hope and happiness too!!!) 😊 I went through a period of time where I had panic attacks regularly, so I just want to say there is nothing better than praying without ceasing and giving it all back to God in worship... it is simple but hard to carry out 😅 We are such a forgetful people, so thank goodness for His loving patience and kindness!!! We all need reminded of what we already know at times... 💜 Faith and trust are two sides of the same coin. It is moving forth despite how we feel because one moment we are on top of the world and the next we are in a ditch. God will never leave us on our own though, and when we press into Him and humble ourselves (because we really cannot do it on our own), He will always provide us with peace 🎉 Love you!!!

I had PND and PNA with my first daughter, and I was the same. Thought I was fine until I realised hold on the way I'm feeling isn't normal, and I opened up to my husband, and I seeked help. My daughter was 4 months old when covid hit Australia, so that was also hard having to do it alone my first time round. I'm now 3.5 months post-partum with my second Daughter and all those anxieties are gone and it's probably because I know they are safe no matter what. My support system stepped up when I needed it most and also those first time parent anxieties are fierce and scary. That the second time they are way less Im your head every move you take. Not to say they aren't there but I feel lighter this time round, mentally But you're doing incredible, and to open up and voice how your feeling is huge. I was so embarrassed and ashamed when I realised I wasn't coping, but then I noticed it is so normal to feel those ways. And that speaking up will help so many other mums around me ❤❤

My son is 4 days younger than Makaiah and I have the same anxious thoughts. When I get thoughts like that I try to just put faith in my partner like if anything did happen to me I know my husband is a good dad and my son will be safe with him. I hope that helps and I would love to see a 10 month update🩵

Hey Jess, is it possible you have Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex? It’s a common thing for breastfeeding moms where you may feel sadness or anxiety while breastfeeding.

The scenery of this blog it's gorgeous and congratulations to your parents for you know renewing their vows and everything like that I think that is absolutely awesome and I loved you know you're awesome thought to make a cake even though it may not have turned out the way you would have liked it but I think that the trying to do it yourself was was kind of entrepreneurial and I think that that is awesome

Omg the anxiety is real 😩 I’m 6 months postpartum and have such scary thoughts every day. Some ridiculous things like the ceiling fan flying off and slicing her in half, her choking every time I try and feed her, her falling out of her highchair, tripping and dropping her, SIDS, getting in a car crash, the house on fire while we’re sleeping soooo many different things
