I’ve been listening to way too much Chet Baker recently. But just want to say a huge thanks to Mary and Steve, the best parents I’ve ever had 😂 getting organised and those engines purring means I can crack on with my rigging and getting my mast up.

Your socks and flipflops are fine.. Anyone who moans about them are obviously foot fetishists frustrated 😅. The music in the other hand is not my cup of tea.. Did you ask your AI music generator to compose tunes in the style of 1970s low budget detective TV shows? I'm not the only one who feels this way..Chet Bakers neighbours obviously felt strongly about his " music" which they had to 'endure'.👀 The boat is coming along nicely. Your parents are wonderful people. The plants really freshen up the place. Ger a code wallet and I'll send you some money Mark.

I am a 58 year old father of three boys 18, 20, and 22 and I can tell you nothing brings me more joy than to help them on what ever projects they are working on, there isn't anything I wouldn't do for them. I can see that your father is like me, he has unconditional love that brings so much joy. It is easy to see how proud your parents are of you. Speaking of proud my youngest son just graduated today, tears of joy!

We are just the same. Our daughter, 27, is expecting her first one and we travel a lot just to spend time with them and help with the work around the house. Our son, 25, bought a house near to us and no job is to much. We both had parents who helped were they could and thats how we like to do it as well. It doesn't have to cost money, helping hands are free.

Linseed oil application should be, Once a day for a week. Once a week for a month. Once a month for a year and Once a year for life. If you cant be assed with all that then you should at least give it three coats with three or four days drying time in-between, Boiled linseed is more durable than raw, buy it boiled don't try and do it your self. If its for outside you might want to consider Tung oil, used by the Chinese for centuries as an external wood preservative.
@TheBeaker59
@TheBeaker59 Ай бұрын
Or top it with a beeswax blend after a few days of that regime Take 1/3 beeswax to 2/3 linseed oil mix then heat until nicely melted together start using that as a rub on gel (its like old fashioned boot polish) after that its repeat as needed. which won't be often.
@alanwakefield2453

@@TheBeaker59 I used a beeswax linseed and turps finish on some of the walking sticks I made some years ago and found that in cold and wet environments i.e. UK most of the year, that the finish clouded when it got cold and damp. I eventually went with several applications of boiled oil for working sticks and polyurethane spray varnish for Gentleman Walkers.

I add a splash of turpintine to the oil, it drives in and cures without a film of sticky... Turps is good for cleaning and thinning paint too... Smells nice and starts the BBQ

Be careful with the used rags used to apply linseed oil, they have been known to spontaneously combust. You don’t need a fire aboard.

Little tip for drilling clean holes with a hole saw. Drill through like normal until the center drill bit pokes through but the outer saw part of the bit hasn't gone through yet then flip over to the other side, use the hole for the center and it will line up perfectly to finish off drilling the full hole and give you nice clean edges on both sides of the hole.

Being tidy is so important for feeling the progress and to help in finding things. When I’m untidy I spend more time searching for tools and bolts etc than actually fitting them; also when I can’t find something I gave tended to re-buy it, thus doubling the cost and space taken.

Mark you can pick up a 5 gallon water jug I think blue is for water but make sure before you buy one, what ever you do don't drill any holes in it, just take the cap off when sitting around and run the water tube down iinside less chance on spilling as not a open container unless it falls over and if it does the Bilge pump will take it away. Try this jazz Nora Jones & Diana Krall, Not sure what, Annie Lenox and Aya is also nice music. I have put into Spotify along with a lot of their music over 20,000 tunes a real mix, I Like some Jazz that stuff your playing today is pretty good. Peter
