Hi, thanks a lot for your kind words of encouragement. I knew people would be commenting I am weak or something but it’s quite the opposite - it was quite difficult to handle everything. I just wanted to share my journey and let people know what they should be expecting - so thank you for acknowledging that.

I was thinking of going for a Ph.D. as well but never did, figured I'd stick with just a Masters for the reasons you talked about. I'm an introvert as well but taught IT at a business school for nearly 10 years teaching night classes while working daytime hours working in my fields (Systems Administrator, Network Administrator) and the joy and trust relationships I had with the students and faculty made my introverted nature feel secondary 🙂 Just bringing my experience I faced that day, that week or in my experience I brought to the students as a "this is how it is out there" message and tried to prepare them for it. You are a very strong person with a great attitude and great sense of humor, just a great head on your shoulders. I'm not shocked at all you've been successful in your journeys and adventures! Thanks for all that info you shared on the Ph.D. experience, kind of glad I didn't do it and if I did I'd honestly feel I'd do it just to have more letters after my name for recognition, not for the right reasons.

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience. Teaching can be very rewarding but there were so many aspects, which made it bad that I decided it’s nothing for me and I would rather inspire and teach people online.

@@dielenka You're definitely inspiring, and I guess ultimately sharing your experiences anywhere can be considered teaching 🙂 I started out in Computer Science and when it comes to programming I just didn't have the mindset for it. Was more of an integrator, I had a better chance of walking on water than I did creating and developing something new from scratch 😂 so it's interesting for me seeing you do what you do while at the same time being a little envious and awestruck doing what you do!

Hi Dielenka! Thank you for sharing your PhD history! I got accepted into a PhD in the US, which is 5 years long because you get accepted just with a Bachelor´s degree. I am honestly having a hard time deciding if I will pursue it or not. My other option is to do a 1-year Diploma in Leadership and Management, which excites me because IT and Science degrees usually lack those skills. My question is if the PhD was worth landing you more job opportunities in the industry. I know for sure that will be the ONLY reason that will make me choose focusing on a research project for so long. I have an IT coach and she told me that a Master's or even online courses can actually make me really proficient at the tools I want to learn, like Machine learning, but that doing the PhD is mostly deep into one specific subject and that it could also narrow my future career options. Thank you for your time

@oladejoezekiel6281 Ай бұрын
Wow, I'm in a somewhat similar situation with you, just that I'm still considering if I should apply for it having just completed my Bachelor's degree. I'm also having a tough time deciding if it'll be the right decision to take as I do not have a great flare for research but conversely, seeking to secure a fully funded study scholarship. Also anticipating Dr. Lenka's response!
@valeriapinatelliugarte3761
@valeriapinatelliugarte3761 Ай бұрын
@@oladejoezekiel6281 you could always just apply for a PhD position. I applied and I was pretty sure about doing it but I changed countries in between and started working, those experiences changed my decision. But I remember reaching out to many professors and they were mostly willing to have a chat with me, I always suggested zoom calls and I got to make all the questions I needed even before applying. Also, to secure a fully funded study, a PhD is not the only option. For example, the Erasmus Program have Masters fully funded in Europe. They even pay for the flights! I think that, if your goal is to secure a fully funded study, then look for all the available options first, including Masters degrees and then choose. Also, you can just apply and once you have some offers start considering. The PhD programs give you some months to take a final decision after you are accepted.

I'm actually a CS master student and I'm really curious about your subject but also the feedback you got! CS is a very black-white subject (something is either true or it's false, never in between) so knowing what the extreme views are could give me a better view of what it is they're really judging you on

Pretoze to nebolo o skole. Lebo ked si zaryty introvert, mozes chciet akokolvek, musis najprv bojovat so sebou, aby si niekomu nieco odovzdal. Kto taky nie je, to nikdy nepochopi. Problemy so srdcom mam stale btw.
