I LOVE Harryhausen’s films. Harryhausen was the godfather of movie special effects and stop motion- his work inspired so many modern film directors and producers, and paved the way for today’s special effects. A lot of films pay homage to him- There is even a bar called Harryhausen’s in Disney’s Monsters Inc! The Argonauts were the sailors of Jason’s ship, The Argo. The Argo was named after its builder, Argus.

@@madamg612 My favourite Harryhausen film is Clash of the Titans. I went to see it when I was a kid and loved it. The 2010 remake with CGI was just abysmal. There was a mini series of Jason and the Argonauts a few years back which I know I watched but I don't recall anything much about it. There aren't many film makers whose work is so instantly recognisable and that's no mean feat.

@@laragallin7251 Exactly, and Clash of the Titans is my absolute favourite too! ❤️ Medusa still terrifies me… that rattle and silhouette as she slithers onto screen… To think it was all done by hand, frame by frame, hundreds of hours- so incredible.

Insecticide isn't great environmentally and you have to keep treating the plant. I had an achillea that was utterly infested with greenfly last year but ladybirds laid an impressive amount of eggs on it. Once the larvae hatched, they ate every last greenfly on it and there was no problem for the rest of the year. Yes, this heat is scorching the grass and this heat is also why water suppliers are implementing hosepipe bans. Sprinklers are far, far worse for water consumption and breaking the ban could mean a fine of up to £1000.

@@laragallin7251 can't you get organic insecticides. This is why I don't have roses in my Garden. I know sprinklers consume a lot of water, i meant for a little bit not for hours like some people, but then Joe has got a big garden so I suppose he shouldn't. And yes, with the hosepipe ban in some area's we all need to save water. Ladybirds are great little bugs for getting rid of greenflies. I had a massive phobia of ladybirds as Child, but now im older i have tried to overcome it. I actually retrieved one which was in my bedroom. 👍

@@jaynekittycat9252 The thing is that everything in your garden is food for something else (perhaps with the exception of Spanish slugs, nothing seems to eat those unfortunately). If you use insecticides to kill one thing, you risk harming what eats it which is definitely not what you want . I stopped using chemicals in my garden as soon as I discovered I had hedgehogs using it. Some people swear by spraying soapy water on greenfly but I didn't have any luck with it the first time I had them. There's also a lot of people who just hose the little nuisances off but that can take a lot of water. I haven't had much trouble with greenfly on my roses at all although I did have a rather large problem with them on my green gage tree this year. Once the ladybird larvae hatched though they polished them off. Good job on tackling your ladybird phobia 😊

@@laragallin7251 Yes your ✅ right. Didn't think it through. I feed Hedgehogs in my Garden. Last year i had 3, all feeding from the same bowl. Only had one this year, but he or she has gone. I still leave out Hedgehogs food and water in case I get any more. Love them. Also I have a Cat, and I get the odd visiter cat from 2 doors down. Maybe just have plants that don't attract greenfly. I have got over my phobia of ladybirds, but I definitely won't get over a phobia of MOTHS, it's weird, i like butterflies, because they just flutter, but Moths tend to buzz and come straight for you. Other than that I love all wildlife, I'm even feeding Squirrels, they come onto my bird pole, they just sit on the wire basket next to the water bowl to be fed. There all fed well. I just wished my neighbours were the same. Wish they would leave just a bowl of water on there lawn for birds, Hedgehogs, but I suppose i make up for the 2 neighbours, my water feature is always topped up with clean water, for birds. 4 sparrow 's were having a bath in it, not to mention pigeons and crows. Lovely sight to see. ❤
