I'm mad that my photo was used in this way, so I wanted to talk about why it's so wrong and how I'm feeling. Please don't give these platforms anymore attention, I really just needed to take back that image for myself because I feel so frustrated it has been used to promote this message.

@bonnievoiceactor 3 жыл бұрын
@Matt Brown Look, I'm not saying there aren't people who regret transitioning, but people put a disproportionate amount of concern on that aspect and use it to hurt actual trans people. Doctors are going to make really extra sure you're sure before doing anything irreversible to you and they're not even going to operate on a teenager. So even if a teenager does mistakenly think they're trans it's not going to hurt them to experiment and then decide it's not for them. You obviously just clicked on this video to argue though judging by the first line of your comment.

This is what JK Rowling was catching a lot of flak for; her anti-trans commentary on the situation where a group of girl friends all convince themselves their problem is being trans. It sounds preposterous, but if it were true, I'd understand Rowling's concerns. But according to Jamie, the info came from anti-trans parents of kids who might be trans who were found on anti-trans websites! No trans kids were involved! When a report sounds phony, it's a good idea to check the claimant's sources. I'm glad someone did. Rowling should have known better.

I think this whole "suddenly becoming trans" thing comes from the fact that the shitty parents didn't actually teach their children about being transgender and what that meant etc. This has the effect of when these baby-trans kiddies start watching trans creators on KZfaq, they go "oh damn, that's what I am", and they finally have the language to put to how they feel. These anti-trans parents are just so dumb.

9:10 a slightly older tran here. transitioned back in 2009-2010. there was literally so little trans rep in the media that i had never even heard the word "transgender" or knew what it meant. i just knew that i was male and i took every opportunity to preface my relationships and friendships with that information, but no one ever took me seriously. they just assumed i meant i was a tomboy asking to be treated like one of the boys. before even seeing a therapist and getting a "diagnosis", i knew who i was and what i'd wanted for myself, i just didn't have the words or know the path. there are so few people out there who would be willing to transition when you can so easily just adjust your gender expression--wear less or more makeup, wear a wig or cut your hair, make changes to your wardrobe--and see how you feel about it. i've only met ONE person who detransitioned, and she insisted to me that she didn't regret transition and didn't want her story to be used in ways like this. She was like "hey, i thought i had it right, but i didn't, and i understood going in that there'd be consequences. i'm an adult and i made an informed decision based on the information provided to me by my therapists and doctors. just because it wasn't for me doesn't mean this isn't a vital process for others."

The reason "the amount of trans people is increasing", is because being trans is more widely talked about and accepted, so more of us are coming out, how do they not know this? It's not because of a trend, it's us feeling more safe. I know it's not really to do with the topic of the video, but it relates to the theme, and the book.

So you mean to tell me that a society where transgender people are a thing that is being talked about creates an environment where trans people could look at other trans people and decide "That sounds about right." as well as society moving towards being more acceptable of transgender people making it safer to be openly trans will lead more people to realize they're trans and come out? Nah no way it's something that complex, it has to be something simple like the chemicals in the water that turned all the frogs gay!

Yuppp, the same reason any other gender/sexual orientation has "increased" in the last decades. People Feeling Like They Won't Literally DIE from being honest about themselves. But no, other people would just like to be lied to, so that they don't have to realize the world isn't like they were told in the Middle Ages. This might be my salt coming out about the topic, but oooohhh, it's as if propaganda and just blatantly "telling the version of the truth you're comfortable with" has existed since the dawn of time and wasn't invented during the last century? Sorry, I just get ticked off at people just putting hands to their ears like little children so they don't have to hear stuff that they don't yet know about, instead of trying to learn 😅

The thing that pisses me off when TERFs refer to transmen as "girls" is that they're doing the exact same thing misogynistic men do to women. Using "girl" in this way is infantilising, suggesting that we're too stupid to make our own decisions and understand what we want. I have spent years trying to better educate people to stop referring to adult women as "girls" Because it's patronising. And now they're doing it to transmen!! Which adds the double whammy of not only being degrading, but actively harms their mental health by triggering their dysphoria. It's almost as if bigots don't actually give a shit about the happiness of other people.

However, I have never, NEVER considered "becoming trans" or transitioning to become a male. Why? Because that's not a thing! Trans people are real. Its not a trend. (New coming out/news down by edit) I'm a trans man, and when I did come out to my mum and my sister, my mum kept on crying every night, which made me very upset, also looking at the wrong type of research about transgenders (she was looking at stuff like how transgenders will never be their gender, just stuff mainly focused on how they apparently will never be the gender they are), and my sister just pretends I never came out. It's been over 6 months from then, I educated my mum a bit more on it of the parts of where she was wrong, she still sometimes dead names me, but tries to use my name, she still doesn't want to call me he/him yet, she said that it will take her a year or a few to get used to the pronouns. My sister on the other hand, completely ignores that I'm trans, she blames me and says that "I just think I'm trans cause of my autism", which didn't help when I first came out, she keeps on talking like how she would talk to her other girl best friends saying stuff like "ooo can I do your makeup?" "lets go shopping for some clothes, dresses, heels" and just about stuff I do not feel comfortable wearing/doing and I highly doubt she will ever really call me by my preferred name and pronouns but I'll have to live with it cause she is my sister after all and that can't be helped. Edit: So for the past 4 or so months I've been questioning my gender, and I have (finally cause it ws starting to bug me) come to a realisation that I identify as demiboy. I've had a lot of thought about it and have spent time focusing on my feelings about it and to try to see if my gender identity is actually demiboy, and I did a lot or research about it cause I wanted to find out what my feelings were, and demiboy fit the puzzle piece perfectly. And over the past few months 1, my partner broke up with me do to things happening to themself and 2, I've also come to the realisation (with help from my counsellor) that I don't really say what I'm actually feeling just so I can make other people happy and ever since my partner broke up with me its helped me realise my actual feelings as when I'm either close to people or dating someone I hold back my true feelings to make them happy but I'm fed up and just done with not being fully MYSELF and holding my feelings back for others. So this edit is basically me coming out to you guys and making my feelings known to myself as this is the only way I can actually get my feelings through to my head. I identify as a male, I love it when people use he/him and masc pronouns on me, it makes me feel happy but I don't want to FULLY be a guy. I just want to identify as one but not fully become one. I've had a major sit down with myself and thought of stuff that I do and don't want. and I realised that I don't know if I actually want to go on T. I might not go on T. My voice has gotten deeper due to me purposely practicing my voice to speak in a bit lower tone and its now become normal and I'm happy with the tone of my voice currently. I still want top surgery and I 100% know that I do NOT identify as female, any female pronouns on me makes me feel weird and uneasy. Also just to finish this up, me writing this has relieved me and made me feel more at peace with myself. Hopefully in the future I don't change myself just to make others happy.

these people act like clinics are grooming young children into transitioning, meanwhile last week i got misgendered by my nurse while i was taking my t-shot. also therapists have done nothing but question why i want to transition, nobody suggested to me that i was trans, i had to prove that to others, i’m still trying to prove it. t has made me much happier already, it’s the phobic perceptions of others that hurt the most. edit: didn’t expect any likes, i hope all of you are having a good day though - and if not, remember to take care of yourself, even if you feel alone. you’re gonna need any strength you can muster, even if it’s just feeling a bit better about your appearance after brushing your teeth, taking a shower, styling your hair, etc - someday it’ll all pay off, dear stranger. 💙 and, if anyone is worried, i’m doing well despite it all, and *to spite it all* . :-) everything is shit right now, but i’m keeping my chin up so i’m not completely incapable of seeing the light when we do get to the other side of the tunnel.

the argument I hate the most from transphobes is the whole "you're a woman who hates being a woman because society told you being a woman is wrong" because like. I grew up literally SURROUNDED by ideas like "girl power" and "women are smarter" and "girls rule, boys drool", my parents made it so so so clear constantly that they wanted me to explore what it meant to be female and how masculine I wanted to be and that they wanted to see me grow up a strong and smart and successful woman who was independent and free, my school had girls clubs where we would talk about female empowerment and workplace equality, I literally never ever got bullied for my gender, and I *somehow* still ended up displaying signs of gender dysphoria at as early as 6 years old. I grew up in an extremely female-positive environment that any girl would love, and I still ended up a trans man. as it turns out, nobody is going around tricking children into being transgender!

I had a thematically similar situation growing up. My parents were gender-lax and intentionally gave us access to gender-neutral play and never admonished us for being masculine, and I was clotheslined by girl power in all childhood media. My mom was a bit misandrist too, and my dad was a bit androgynous (turned out he's actually a he/him agender person). At no point did I ever think that men were better. I just thought they were slobs. I actually had a panic attack when I figured out I was trans, because I didn't want to be a man. I honestly could have ended up a terf. But I accepted myself and moved on, and now I'm a happily transitioning nb trans guy. If I can be trans, anyone can be.

@@0XBlondie96X0 Yep. And 'cause that kind of thing does happen. I heard about it happening to a trans woman on Reddit. I don't think I'll be able to find it again, but as I remember: she had submitted her picture to an anti trans group, with before and after transition photos (for context, she looked androgynous, younger, and miserable in the first picture, and feminine, older, and happy in the second - and could totally pass). She had labeled them that in the first one that she was pretending to be a boy, and said that she had been miserable and suicidal, and that in the second picture she was embracing her true self as a woman and was very happy now. They shared it thinking she was cis, which she then shared on Reddit thinking it was hilarious. Edit: I just remembered - the group titled it something along the lines of "She's so beautiful in her natural femininity, why would she want to be a guy?". So I think that's what was so funny, as they were actually confirming her gender, but I mean how attractive someone is is so not the point, mind you.

hi ! i openly identified as a boy between the ages of 12 and 16. in those 4 years, i suffered from severe mental illness. however, this started at age 10, and i’m still in the process of healing. while i now happily identify as female, and am far happier as a person, “being trans” or “thinking i was trans” wasnt the issue. it was how i was treated socially and by medical professionals that made everything worse. i am not trans, and of i had physically transitioned (which im still not legally old enough to do) i dont think it would have effected my identity in any way. i guess in summary, no “ex trans person” or whatever holds any ill will towards the trans community. trans men are men, trans women are women, they/them pronouns are valid, and TERF’s are just sexists who do more to oppress women than they do help them. lookin at you JK R*wling. Hey, thanks for talking about this and not using your experience to be a dick to trans people lol. I went through something similar, although my questioning and public experimenting was a lot shorter than the four years. I think the heavy questioning and experimenting only lasted around a year or less, but I’ve had little questioning periods around gender before hand and after actually. I feel like I have some sort of undiagnosed mental health problem, or at least had one in the past, but I’ve never been able to visit a doctor. It’s nice seeing other people question and come out the other side as happily cis, as I didn’t see that much when I was questioning and felt very lonely. I hope that doesn’t sound weird - trans people are valid and I respect them/try to be a good ally, but idk it’s nice seeing someone I can relate to as I imagine a lot of other people would understand.

Lost Otter if anything, my experience has made me a more fierce ally . it’s shown me that people should be allowed to experiment and work out who they are without fear of social stigma. gender is a fluid spectrum that we should be allowed to explore and feel comfortable doing so.

A couple of weeks ago I came out to my grandmother. She seemed really supporting and i was happy to finally have an accepting and supporting family member, as the rest of them (besides one of my cousins) hate me for it. Hate is a strong word, but i don't know what else to use to describe slapping me hard enough to cause me to bite my cheek and bleed, to yell at me constantly until I'm gagging blood and crying, and continuously saying that I'm doing everything wrong with my life. Earlier today, i wanted to make an orange smoothie and i had a saved recipe on my mom's phone so I asked if I could use it. She let me. And i took advantage of it since I already had suspicions. I snooped through her texts (i know that's bad). It turns out my grandmother doesn't support me and she only wanted to make a good impression. Now i feel sad, empty. And it also turns out my counselor doesn't support me either. I'm sorry for ranting, but you are one of my idols. I only found you about half a week ago, but you've really made me feel better.

It would come under IP laws. EDIT - Found it on Instagram and reported it for you.

You are awesome. I hope you are suing each and everyone of them including the platforms that refused to take it down. Every day you reach more and more trans people like myself and their loved ones. I shudder to think if I had to go through all that with my parents. Truly the suffering people go through, I am so happy that you have the courage and knowledge to be able to continue making these broadcasts. Believe me it is far from a casual podcast. It has given me hope and learning to accept myself at age 55. To see a cute face (seriously because sometimes Ive felt far from cute, a little alienated in this world. Yet at the same time Ive been fortunate enough to have so much support), to see a likeable good hearted and consistently cheery guy, in a healthy relationship (which flies in the face off all that bogus research that we are so sad. What it is that makes some of us so sad is transphobia) Im very proud to refer any trans person or loved one who is seeking to understand and accept themselves, to your videos. I appreciate all the videos transpeople have put up, but I personally find on a consistent basis your videos are soothing. Great haircuts, soft voice, very nice facial hair. Im 55 and didn't start testosterone until 4 years ago so I may not have that, and probably won't ever pass as a man, that's just me but as unpopular as that is Im on the top dose of T, they don't expect more changes. I'm using rogaine to try and get even a soft fine haired mustache. But I'm opting to just go as natural as possible and not work on trying to be perceived of as a man, because it is the brass ring I'll never catch. I spent my whole life hiding it. I think it's better I have most everything I want. Maybe do that as a topic sometime. They say "passing" isn't a good term. A friend used to tell me. You're valid. Literally in those words, regardless of if I was different, and a non- conforming man, or one that would never be believeable. You visits are by far the best Ive seen to make myself feel good about myself. that helps me. Thank you for being brave and I hate that this happened to you. People WILL be smart and find out that gender dysphoria is real and that getting adequate treatment is important and with surgery and hormones can really give someone life back to them. Your broadcast will be there as part of Their Full research. Yours is more genuine and believeable.

This might sound rude, but I never realized how much academic research you've put into these topics. I like your normal videos where you're all silly and such well enough. But watching you go *in* on blatant lies, misinformation and stand up for trans rights is something else entirely. I'd love to see more of this, you're like a totally different person when you're showing your education and advocating. It's so easy to tell that you know what you're talking about and it shows that you and other trans people are strong af and will not let other's abuse them or speak for them. Keep it up king, we're here to learn and here to stand with you ✊

Can’t you sue them or something? Maybe slander? (Idk I know nothing about legal crap)

I'm pretty sure he can since it's his photo and he owns the rights, so they technically broke copyright laws by using it.

Timetravelinfool that’s still breaking copyright law. Just because you edit some else’s picture doesn’t make it yours. So Jamie can sue them for theft and illegal use and edit of his photo if he wanted.

Oh, my dear, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. My wonderful daughter did some photos--which I have never seen--for friends who needed that kind of information. (I researched photos of what post breast cancer looked like and am eternally grateful to the women who brave enough to show that.) If her photos got snatched by transphobes, I would be incandescently angry.

All these people: oh look at this “Woman” she’s so unhappy because she regrets changing to the opposite sex. Jammi: the happy guy I have ever seen and is clearly very happy with his life now Like bro people need to stop with all this transphobia like what does it affect you if someone’s trans, guess what IT DOESNT. To anyone who is trans or not completely sure about there gender like me, you have my FULL SUPPORT I LOVE ALL OF YOU 🥰

as an afab person, i think the wildest thing about her argument is that i'm looking for something to explain the psychological distress i have. i know what has caused my psychological distress, and it's not JUST dysphoria. if all i was doing was trying to find a scapegoat for how i'm feeling as an afab person (whatever that means), i would blame it on my PTSD, or depression, or anxiety, or a whole host of other issues that come along with those. i wouldn't make up or choose some random thing out of nowhere. and that being said, most of my transgender friends are men, so with that logic, why am i nonbinary? it's honestly baffling. then they try to claim science as the root of their argument, when science very clearly and overwhelmingly supports trans people's existence. it's all an excuse to be discriminatory. i'm sorry they used your image to try to tear us down, but know that your story and your presence gives me inspiration and hope. we're stronger than they'll ever be. 💕
