MY PICK TO REPLACE AUTOFLEX GOLF SHAFT

If you've ever wanted to try the Autoflex golf shaft but didn't want to spend $800 on it, I give you my best recommendation on a shaft to replace it with.
If you want the exact specs of the shaft we used, here they are. This is the match for the 505. The 505x and 505xx would require slight changes.

Would love to see the peak height and dispersion numbers for this comparison. Those would help consumers get the rest of the picture. Club speed, ball speed and raw spin numbers are nice but as all players know shot shape and dispersion is where we live. Also, face strike location is an important data point to evaluate a shafts when comparing. The Trackman Mr. Short Game had setup can measure that. Love the video. Keep it up!

I bought a brand new Grafalloy ProLaunch 45 regular flex. My current shaft is a Ventus Velocore Black 60X. I've done some initial testing that has been pretty positive. My accuracy isn't really any worse. Clubhead speed is up a little. The Grafalloy spins a bit more. But overall I find it very 'easy' and almost care free to swing. The Ventus feels like it needs more effort.

I just bought the same Garaffalloy PL Blue 45g in A flex and am absolutely falling in love with the results. I've been playing the Fuji Motore X F1 6X for the past 2 years with great success. I think the trick with a shaft like this is to turn down the loft about as low as you can. The launch is much higher than a shaft like the Ventus Black so turning down the loft should still give great launch results and reduce the spin. I've got mine plugged into a PXG Gen5 9° turned down to 7.5°. with no effort, my static launch is 12-14°, SS up from 110 to 112 without any extra speed training, and spin between 1800-2200. My hard pull miss into the next fairway over has turned into a 300 yd push into the right rough. At $60 from GG or Golfworks, it's a bonkers combo!

Just curious, what is it about those shafts that make them the best candidates? Could you not get any quality shaft that is extremely light, that's a couple flexes more flexible than normal, and a high kick point to minimize spin, and be good to go? I really enjoy your channel. You seem to have a sense of honesty and humility that I value in people. I hope to meet you in the future.

Yes. You are right on. Doesn't have to be this shaft. I've said it before you can drop 2 weight classes and 2 flexes and take advantage of the same idea. I just think this is a good shaft for the money and have actually tested it to show it works.

@@biggregg5 Torque values on shafts I pay very little attention to. I have always said, if you get the right weight, flex, and launch specs, then the manufacturer's torque on that particular shaft will be fine. It is going to be a little different when talking about this Autoflex matching stuff, the numbers will be a good bit higher. However I don't think the torque is ever the reason if a shaft doesn't work for you. The Autoflex doesn't work for everyone, more aggressive swings will have issues, but again that is the whole shaft not just the torque.

First of all, your channel and videos are great. My current driver (PXG 0811 Gen4) is built to a 44.25 length with the same swing weight as the stock 45.5 length. 2 questions: 1. What driver length was Mr. Short Game hitting? 2. If I used the new Mortore shaft that was shown in the video, would a shorter length driver, like mine, make a difference in flex, performance, etc?
@EFGMC
@EFGMC 2 жыл бұрын
These were all 45.5 inch playing length. A shorter shaft in this make up will be no different than a shorter shaft in any version. The shaft will play stiffer until you add weight back to the head to get the feel back. Then the flex will come back. It's totally golfer dependent as to what length gives you the best chance to make consistent contact with the club face.

I think 2100 spin gets dangerous. I like 2500 much more unless you are on the long drive circuit. If you aren't on the screws at 2100, the ball can get hard to control. Not sure about Bryson comment. I don't think his swing is built for this sort of flexible shaft. From what I have seen, it works better for more deliberate tempo golfers.

Need your unbiased wisdom please. As an inability to hit driver in play, I typically shoot mid to upper 80s (and sometimes mid 90s) due to penalty shots. My irons are decent but I can never “feel” them at any point in my swing. I want to get new irons…what are some iron heads that are heavier? Like wedges for instance. Currently play zx7 and apex cf19. Thanks!!
@EFGMC
@EFGMC 2 жыл бұрын
You can get most any new irons with heavier swing weights (ie heavier heads) when you order them or have them built. My first recommendation would be to buy a roll of lead tape and go to the range. Start adding strips of tape (2 inch strips) to the back of the cavity and hit some balls. Keep adding weight until you find the right combo of feel and consistency for your swing. Then you can use one of the online swing weight calculators or take the club to a shop to weigh it so you know what SW you prefer.

Thank you first for your insightful videos. I do have a question about this video. I have a driver club head speed of 100mph. I swing a Callaway Epic Speed driver with an OBAN devotion6 shaft in a stiff(65g). I have tried the AutoFlex before on the range and was amazed at the performance and also the price. I found this video fascinating and would like to know if I should be looking at the F3x R2 even though the overall weight of the shaft is in the upper 50’s in weight? I would love to see a bump in clubhead speed and maintain my smash factor. Any thoughts? Thanks again, Tom

Also if you have a video that shows how to reduce the swing weight on this potential club given that I am adding a lighter shaft I would assume that the swing weight will be heavier. Will I need to add a counterbalance at the butt end to achieve my goals or look for a heavier grip to lighten the swing weight. Thanks again.
@EFGMC
@EFGMC 2 жыл бұрын
The Oban raw weight is 67g and the Motore is 57 so it's a bit of a drop. You could find another shaft that is in the upper 40g weight and light flex if you want to try and capture more speed.

Does the weight of the head have an effect ? As ping heads are heavier than TM, what would you have to do to offset the weight ? Make it lighter?
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Жыл бұрын
Part of what makes the Autoflex idea work is that you are in many cases dropping head weight, and big surprise, that makes you swing it faster. Of course the exact same result would happen with any driver. It's really something you need to experiment with and see if the reduced weight gives you better speed without compromising accuracy.
@ultimatejay
@ultimatejay Жыл бұрын
@@EFGMC Thats not entirely true, a shaft like auto flex is designed to use a lighter head weight to make the shaft flex correctly and load up to maximize power and stability. You throw a light weight head on a regular stiff shaft and yes you will swing it faster but now you just made the shaft much stiffer and have poor results.
