Just wanted to thank you for the very informative, and more so, easy to understand instructions. Being able to actually see into the filter, and just WHAT a "lateral is, helped. While I don't have a multiport connected to the top of the filter, you made this very "user friendly."

Great video. About 3 years ago I bought a house with an indoor pool and this spring I noticed that I was getting sand inside the pool almost every day since I opened it. I figured that it was time to change the sand in my filter (300lbs) and this video was just what I needed before I tackled the job. Hopefully the sand that I'm seeing in my pool is because some of the sand has worn down and managed to fit through the tiny holes on the fingers in the filter. If not I may have a cracked finger inside the filter I'm guessing. Still, this video was very helpful and was the perfect education that I needed before I opened everything up. Thanks!

thank you. I just bought a house with a pool and never have opened a pool for the spring. The label on the sand filter is completely gone so this was very helpful. Also I have a leak in the O ring so I will try to clean and lube it before buying another one. So thanks for not rambling on and on, you made a very simple, easy to follow video!

quick tip.cover laterals in water 1/3 and also use 2 bags course sand over top laterals after putting in some water. the course sand is essential

the company I work for makes silica sand. I always wondered how people used the silica sand for pools, thanks to covid-19 we are buying a pool for 2021 and looking to purchase a sand filter pump and thanks for the how to video

When adding sand, putting about 2 inches of water above the fingers helps cushion them and also cuts down on dust.

Sand Filters use a special kind of sand for this purpose. Therefore, DO NOT use ordinary Garden Sand.

Doing this very task as we speak. Using a shop vac is a huge time saver. Also I'm not putting new sand in, im using re-usable fabric balls.

Johan, Thanks for posting the video on how to change the sand. Very good indeed! Couple of questions, If I may. 1: Where did you find the tubing that you attached the unions to? I have had no luck at Lowes or HomeDepot. 2: Did you use basic primer and pvc cement? 3: If you are in Canada, any issues with the tubing freezing or cracking? Or there days, weeks, and months you have to keep the pump on to ensure no broken parts? Thanks in advance! I will be using your video on correcting an upside down light switch.

Hey great step by step video, but you forgot to show that you MUST put water in the filter before the sand to keep the laterals from crackin from the weight of the sand.

This video was so helpful. I believe my collar has a stripped screw or something because I think the collar should be “tighter” also my sight glass had sand in it from the previous owner and I can’t figure out how to thoroughly clean it

That moment when water is clear you vacuumed and that 1 or 2 leaves floating at the bottom of the deep end. 🤣🤣🤣🤣so tempted to dive in and hand grab them

Thanks for the video. I have an inground pool and every time I rinse and vacuum the pool and put it back on filter dirt and sand goes into bottom of the pool. Do you think I need to replace the laterals in my sand filter?

This is fantastic! Thank you! Can you describe the unions and hose you use for the inlet and outlet of the filter. I have a similar set up, except mine is all hard PVC and I am not looking forward to cutting and replacing the pipes for any maintenance. I'd rather have unions like you and hoses so that I can have the flexibility when connecting the filter. Thank you in advance.

How did you get it so clean after you rinsed it out with the hose? I am unable to turn my filter upside down and dump all the debris out after rinsing
