I own the blue Tiffany box and I’ve had it for years, I actually got it when it first came out and mine have never faded or scratched. I absolutely love it. I don’t know if you know this or not but you can take your charm in to Tiffany’s and they will buff and clean your charm and make it look brand new, unfortunately there’s a fee to get it done.

Oh please. I have a necklace, bracelet and ring from Tiffanys. Silver is a soft metal so scratching is completely normal. White gold will not scratch as easily. Discoloration is also normal but will clean off. Silver is not expensive, you are paying for the brand.

Comparing this to my pandora .925 silver charms I have to say pandora is better. I've had my charms for years with very little tarnishing or even scratches. I clean them only once every 5 months or so.

Yes I know i am paying for the brand but I expect better quality coming from such a prestigious company ( sarcasm) lol on the prestigious I know silver is a softer metal and will scratch very easy but the fact is the Tiffany stamping came off in like a week... i won't go over it anymore thats y the videos were made

They can't be actually enamelling it. They've Got to be referring to enamel paint. Actual enamel is glass baked onto the metal in a kiln. It doesn't fade. I've been making jewelry for years and years and I know it doesn't fade. It could chip (rarely), but it wouldn't fade. How cheap it is that Tiffany Paints their jewelry.

you need to go to a different T, you got the wrong SA there - I have never had an issue with T and they have gone above and beyond in my experience - I would switch that charm out asap and then ask for the other hook clasp too, they will give it to you but again need to find a SA in another store!

would be best if you wear 3 bracelets only coz the jewelry scratch each other if you stack too many together....silver tarnishes badly, it needs constant cleaning....stainless steel is way better than silver and costs less...the comment about snobby salespersonnel made me chuckle but I'm more snobbish so I ask them to get me new stock from tbe backroom and inapect my purchase for half an hour and make them take out all their stocks so I can choose the best stock....to be honest most of thrse high brands do not have very high manufacturing standards it's all about the markup

I sooo love you. Been riding with Pandora for years. Just started Tiffany this past 2016. I will agree they are snobby especially when your black and walk in well dressed carrying an authentic Louis Vuitton speedy 35 two weeks old. And shopping bags from GUCCI, (disco bag) and paying all cash for the Josephine wallet. A key pouch and a neverfull GM. With those bags in tow as well. Yet they look at you like this black couple Must be drug dealing affiliated or using stolen credit cards. Umm no actually I’m a certified RN and my husband is a successful realtor. Now I’ll take one of each,’wrapped in separate bags per box, thanks. Get your authentication highlighter out. Bc this is as always an all cash payment. The only reason I shop at Tiffany’s is because their pieces are classic and our 11 yr old can inherit them.Thought it was just me. Thank you for this video. 💯😍

On the mohs scale of hardness silver is like a 2 or a 3 out of 10. You can’t expect a metal to hold up long if it is like that. But I understand where you are coming from
@littlekitten45892 жыл бұрын
Silver is mixed with other metals so it is more durable, pure silver yes is soft... but it can be pretty durable once mixed with other harder metals

I found this on a reddit thread from a bench jeweler. Very informative! Her name is SandraRosner: I'll try to bring all the information together for you (I have 15+ years of experience as a silversmith, a bench jeweler in fine jewelry stores & managed a silver shop many moons ago). -Tiffany silver is typically not rhodium plated. Rhodium is a platinum metal that is used to plate both white gold & sterling silver to make them appear whiter. In terms of sterling silver, it is also used to prevent tarnishing -but- it no longer looks like sterling silver. Some people feel like it makes the piece look fake, thus why most high end jewelers who make silver pieces will not rhodium plate. Also, rhodium is used to cover up poor quality silver, where the alloy is slightly pitted, darker, or just of questionable content (as in, less than 925 parts pure silver per 1000). -Rhodium plating is very thin and does wear off. When it does, it needs to be completely polished off and reapplied, which most jewelers do not offer. Rhodium plating solutions should only be used with the same type of metal (so if you plate gold in your shop, that batch should stay for gold.) Most jewelers will not keep 2 separate batches of rhodium in their stores, so most will refuse to rhodium plate silver. If you do find someone who will, the polishing & plating may run as much as the original cost of the piece. -When silver tarnishes rapidly on a person, it is sometimes because they eat a lot of tomatoes. We're all different, and will react differently to metals, but diet can play a part in metal reactions. To separate out issues of a bad alloy, hand polish the piece and let it sit on a dresser for 24 hours. If it tarnishes just as quickly, I would return it. As far as skin reactions tarnishing your silver, argentium silver might be a better option for you. It has a higher silver content (935 vs. 925), and the alloy is more tarnish resistant. It can be difficult to find argentium at times, but jewelers have easy access to it. Polishing cloths are the best care for silver outside of a zip-top bag. When not wearing your silver, keep it air tight and it will not tarnish. When it does tarnish, a polishing cloth will give the best results. I have seen polishing dips do some pretty bad things to silver over the long term, so use with caution. Lastly, as far as sleeping with jewelry on, it really should not be an issue from a tarnish standpoint. Sleeping in jewelry lowers the life of your piece because you are literally wearing it 1/3 more of the time. If you want your jewelry to last as long as possible, take it off a night. In terms of tarnish though (unless you have reactive skin), the motion of the piece rubbing against your skin/shirt should actually lessen tarnish vs. it sitting on a table. Any chemicals from hairspray, perfume, suntan potion, etc & chlorine from tap water/pools - these are bad for all jewelry, as they weaken the alloy over time.

I own the Tiffany's small beaded bracelet with the pink enamel mini heart. In a few months its color has turned from baby pink to brownish. Went to the store and they said it was because I was wearing it too much, and they could change the charm for 50€ + 15€ for the postage to the restoration place, and they were really rude. Not going to buy from them again, even though I love their jewellery.

Great vid, I love your arm candy. I also love that you are a contradiction. I totally understand your POV. I am fairly new to Tiffany, I have a couple of used pieces and a few I got as gifts. My recent ball bracelet with ribbon broke after three days. Seriously?! Its too dainty, all I did was take off a sweater. Im going to stick with the hard core thicker pieces. I've been collecting Pandora for years and I have to say, I really don't like the newer products there. They stopped using genuine stones and the quality is not the same. I have moved over to elfbeads, ohm beads and Red Bali Frog for my european charms.

I probably will, um maybe not, ok well maybe two more pieces of Tiffany jewelry and I'm done with them!! Also, try their jewelry cleaning services. Your pieces will look brand new. Purely commenting on the metal, Tiffany does not plate their sterling silver. It is pure. Pandora uses a coating, not even rhodium, to keep it bright and prevent tarnishing. HOWEVERRRR, this coating will over time wear off and you’ll see a drastic difference in appearance for your pandora jewelry. You can’t really compare pure sterling silver to plated silver. Sterling silver will tarnish more on certain people. It’s a sensitive metal but durable. And their trademark, since they started the brand with “Tiffany silver.” They set the industry standard for it. 😌
@littlekitten45893 жыл бұрын
So do you think pandora is plated silver and not .925 sterling silver like Tiffany? Because pandora is not plated jewlery its solid pure 9.25 sterling silver like tiffany, in fact pandoras srerling silver jewelry is better than Tiffany's
@truffleflowers3 жыл бұрын
Gem Talk Pandora is sterling 925, yes, but they coat that to keep it bright and prevent tarnishing in the beginning. I’m not referring to sterling silver plated, where other metals are plated in 925. Usually sterling silver is rhodium plated for jewelry. As in, the solid silver is dipped in rhodium to keep it bright and white and resistant. But I’ve heard Pandora doesn’t use rhodium, they use something else that’s less expensive. What you’re seeing is not the actual silver for now. That’s why you think it’s “better” when comparing to the true nature of silver. Luxury brands don’t rhodium plate or anything because it makes the silver not look like silver and can make it look fake. See my other reply from a bench jeweler with all the additional details. Eventually the coating from Pandora will wear off and then you cannot get it back, it would be really expensive for any jeweler to repolish the piece entirely and add that coating again. Sterling silver is soft and not blinding white. At Tiffany’s, you’re getting the true properties of the metal because it is not being masked. 🤷🏻♀️

Hi Gemtalk, I just have a question regarding the Tiffany bracelet size that you wear. From your previous Pandora bracelets I remember you stating that you wear the 23 cm, because you like your bracelets to be bigger. What size is your Tiffany bracelet? I wear a 21cm 8.3 inches in Pandora. I want to purchase the the mini bead bracelet, but I think it only comes in small, medium and large. And the large is only a 7.5. Please help if you can? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking maybe I can purchase an extender or have them resize it.
@littlekitten45894 жыл бұрын
Yes Tiffany only goes so big they don't have a lot of sizes like pandora does. I think depending on the bracelet they do carry slightly bigger than a 7.5 but I was in the store when they showed it to me online might be different.. TBH if you want the beaded bracelet I wouldn't recommend they break very easy! Best bet for a Tiffany bracelet would be a solid link. The beaded is very delicate

I HATE when my REAL Jewellery turns yellow 😡😡😡 Do you think I should just stay death from that charm or just try my best to keep it clean ??
@littlekitten45895 жыл бұрын
holly lynne Being exposed to moisture, skin and the air causes a chemical reaction that gradually over time, oxidizes the silver metal turning it from shiny silver, to a light yellow/silver color. ... Moisture also causes your silver to slowly tarnish. But I guess sometimes it happens super quick it also has to do with what they mix in with the silver as well my Tiffany turned quick and I mean quick Also has to do if you shower with your pieces as well the chemistry of your skin believe it or not but I really think it shouldn’t happen too fast but over time.. if it’s most likely to happen again I’d just return it and not get it again
