I've always had a close relationship with my parents and I'm so blessed and privileged for our relationship. Naomi said that she's verbal with the people she loves and her mother said that first, she's mom - then the bff. I think that's awesome. I totally feel that way with both of my parents. Also, I was raised in a household with hugs, kisses, and saying/showing how much we love each other, so I can't imagine ending a conversation with my sibs or mom without saying, "I love you." In Fed. 2012, I've lost my father to cancer. I didn't get a chance to tell him I loved him one more time because as soon as I heard his voice, I broke down and couldn't stop crying. So the last time I verbally told my dad I loved him was through my mom. I know he knew how much I loved him and I know how much he loved me - but I still feel guilty for not taking a deep breath and saying those 3 simple words. I'm sharing this story to encourage you, if you have a broken relationship with your parent(s), to mend it, end each conversation with, "I love you," and show them how much you love them. Living with the guilt is a heavy burden and I would give anything to be able to tell me dad, my bff, my superhero, "I love you," one last time. ❤️
