Wie wäre es jetzt nach all den Jahren die Videos alle auf Deutsch zu machen…meinetwegen mit englischen Untertiteln. In den USA wären Sie längst gefeuert worden… What about making all the videos in German language after all these years…perhaps with English subtitles. Every company/sports club in the USA would have fired you long ago …without speaking English…

I love Hamburg. It’s so open to everyone and it always makes me smile. It’s so green and the buildings are not the ugly sky scrapers that make you feel so small. There’s water and bridges everywhere. The people are nice and friendly even if they appear to be rough. The people in Hamburg take the German bluntness to the next level… but in a friendly and not mean way. Very straight forward. If you’re prepared for it you’ll understand what I mean and even might love it.

I hate Hamburg. Arrogant people. They identify as Hamburgers first and Germans second. No amazing skyscrapers, cold, utilitarian, ugly, boring architecture. A city stuck in it's forgotten glory of the past. Hamburg is a disgrace and it would be no loss if it would separate from the German mainland and sink into the north sea, never to be seen again. Hamburg is in the same league of shamefulness as Bavaria. I am sure everyone can imagine what a pain and embarrassment it is to admit that Hamburg and Bavaria are still part of Germany.

Hamburg, Pearl of the North. The harsh conditions create a special kind of human being. The coconut guy. A thin hard shell on the outside and soft on the inside. The skin like tanned leather, shaped by wind and rain. The sky alone with its more than 50 shades of gray should be worth a trip. You are allways Welcome, Digger.

Two things everyone visiting (or of course living) in Hamburg should know. One: It never rains in Hamburg, there is just sometimes a bit of wet air around. And Two: It's never cold. It's just maybe the wrong clothing you are wearing. With that in mind, Hamburg is and will always be the most beautiful city in Germany.

I guess that's because Hamburg has so many beautiful spots that you can see plenty and still miss many! I've been living here for nearly 50 years now and am still constantly discovering beautiful spots all over the place! There is a regional TV show here where they have a weekly segment called "I've never been to..." and then one of the 100+ Hamburg districts is shown to that person who has never been to ... by another person who lives in ... ! It's amazing what parts of Hamburg have not been seen by people who have been living here for decades or even are natives. That said, you are asking a lot from an in Schwäbisch Hall living American who is here for a few days... 😉

Der alte Elbtunnel fehlte noch, auch sehenswert. There is an old tunnel under the river which nowadays can only used by pedestrians and cyclists. It's worth viewing and visiting because it's very old and you down to tunnel in huge elevators in which some cars would fit. And in older cars, before the new tunnel and the Köhlbransbrücke existed, workers went through this tunnel to their work in the harbor.

I'm born and raised in (near) Hamburg and this city is by far my favourite in Germany. Since the last Hamburg-video i was pretty sure, Nalf should be drowned in the Hamburg harbour. But miracles happen and Nalf finally did my hometown right. And at the end of the video, still unsure "drown him or not?" he said goodbye in one of two possible proper ways in Hamburg. One is "Tschüß" may be nothing for american tongues, the other is "Moin". Not "Moin, Moin" which is unnecessary gossiping 😉 Nalf earned my pardon and if we ever should meet i invite you eating a "Fischbrötchen" or "Original Labskaus" with me Hummel, Hummel!

Ja moinsen, cool that you gave Hamburg another chance. I hope you were able to enjoy your trip, even though you had another misfortune. Next time I recommend a visit to the south of Hamburg, to the “Heide” and “Harburger Berge” and go for a little hike. The border area to lower saxony is quite beautiful. Also if you are interested in history there are the old border stones from the time king georg II was the ruler of england and the hereditary Prince-Elector of Hanover. Furthermore, in northern Hamburg, in Altona, you can find the old danish border. 🥰😊

I'm already up for the next part, when the Hamburg curse returns after you've been on the Reeperbahn for a night, spat on, beaten up and robbed. Not that I wish for something like that, but you did exactly the right things for a couple trip. Reeperbahn is rough. Some outskirts too. Btw. in the 60s, 70s and 80s, Hamburg was probably the most notorious city in Germany, if not Europe.

Sweet video! Very nice! In the old times, I believe that the Hamburg area was in the Saxon part. Southern Jutland in Denmark (and northernmost Germany) was in the Anglian area (a big Danish tribe). Both tribes went to England (together with the Jutes in northernmost Jutland (Denmark) to conquer that country. The Jutes took Kent, and the areas in England ending in -ex was taken by the Saxons. The Anglian Danes took much of the rest (except Wales and Scotland). We talk about around 400 to 600 AD. Then the Vikings came to England from Norway/Denmark in 792 AD... and took it once more...

Much respect for using the sinlge "moin" at the end. the double one is reserved for tourists or our danish neighbors only. I have been all over germany and Hamburg is my favourite one. At least out of the bigger cities. Some smaller ones are beautiful too, but don't have that much to offer. I would say it is in the top 5 of europe. And the weather really is the most annoying part. Moin Moin is generally considered to be too much in northern Germany. IF you ever hear somebody use it, it's most likely a person living but not being born and raised in Hamburg. That's how they are identified easily. 😂

Thank you for your comment about the single "moin". I thouht exactly the same. Never ever use double moin! Its really only for tourists. If you would like to have a variation, say "Moinsen". 😂

Thank you that you gave Hamburg a second chance. I have to say that I like this city very much and I am glad that your second experience was much better than the first one.

So awesome you enjoyed a visit to Hamburg. It's one of my favourite places to visit when I go to Germany. There are tons of stuff to see and do there. And I've just added the canoe and "hygge the farm" (danes will get that) on my list for the next time. Thank you 👌 Moin! PS: Bahn will sometimes screw you over, it's not just a german thing.

I remember commenting on your first video about the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg that more or less everything that happened to you guys at that time was your own damn fault! Glad you made it back to Germany‘s most beautiful city!

Like always a perfectly edited video, which is more of a "short movie" than like a YT Vid! I really admire the professional way you do your videos, even when knowing about the backround it stays an always positive surprise when a new one is out. Adding your sense of humor and your - sometimes easy and sometimes very deep - thoughts and reflections makes it what I call a "NALF masterpiece"! Keep up the good work!

hey Nalf, the JvM (THE LÄND) Ciro here. finally you changed your opinion about germanys most beautiful city. i have lived here for many years and i have to tell you that the weather here is better than its reputation. half my family lives in the south and i have a direct comparison. it's usually nicer here in the north:)

That's right. I also lived in Munich for a few years and it was super rainy, while in Hamburg the weather was fine.

Nalf, great video. It was just a bad start by your own fault but Hamburg ist immer eine Reise wert. So much to see, so much to discover. Well done by Laura and Jule to support you
