Saw the movie a second time and when Jennifer Connelly showed up my wife leaned over and whispered in my ear, “pump and dump.” I laughed silently for 5 straight minutes. I looked like my shoulders were getting tasered. 😂

His standup is hilarious. My gf dad bought us tickets to see him live in Vegas back in early 2000s and I was really disappointed bc I didn’t think he’d be funny. He was hilarious. I laughed the whole time.

Great movie. Perfectly made. The story, the action, the drama, the funny parts at the right times. Top 3 Sequels: Godfather 2, Empire Strikes Back, Top Gun: Maverick

Of course its highway to dangerzone, it's referring to the runway of the aircraft carrier where the planes take off into battle.

I remeber when it came out. Back when MTV played music videos, and it was clear as day that he said, "Highway".

Even if they weren’t referencing the runway, a highway is still a great word to use as a metaphor, because “high” often means up in the air, and “way” means path. A highway to heaven is that journey into the sky that people take when they die. Then again there’s a highway to hell, so maybe you start going up on a highway like you’re headed to heaven, but then your sins are examined and so you’re forced to take an off-ramp down towards a tunnel entrance into the fiery ground.

Funniest part was everytime mav got called into the authority office to get yelled at, there was no background music, so we could all hear the baliwood movie in the theatre next to us blasting “abu dahbi Dawli blu boo zifresh agalalalala” throughout every quiet scene in the film where Tom cruise was getting yelled at by Jon hamm

I loved the movie but left being not really sure if Rooster was Goose's son. I mean, his name rhymed with Goose and had double Os, he had a mustache in 2022 for some reason just like Goose in 1986 when they were common, he wore an unbuttoned Hawai'ian style overshirt when off-duty, he learned how to play exactly 1 song "Great Balls of Fire" on piano just like his D....I mean Goose, and he even played "Filbert Rowe" in Revenge of the Nerds 6. I think the actor's name was even Janthony Jedwards.

The bit where he plays "Great balls of fire" bothered me but then I figure he saw Maverick there and knew it would stir up memories of his dad. So he was sticking it to Maverick in a passive aggressive way. Still too much member berries for me overall but whatever.

I saw David and a couple of his friends (handlers?) at Houston's in Scottsdale back in like '96, he was just sitting there, not eating his spinach dip, and doing sound effects... guy hasn't changed a bit.
