Thanks for the update on how service went. I've never had to send either of mine off to RSC so glad to hear they were pretty quick in getting it back to you.

I thought I’d check in and see if there were any updates, and what a surprise! Congratulations on getting that tank back on your wrist. You didn’t give it a second to catch it’s breath, straight back out into the field. Love it. Now the true adventure begins. If all goes to plan, you can beat the ever living cr@p out of it, and it won’t need servicing for another 12 years.

Very cool. Glad to see its back. Communication a bit annoying I bet. Five months after getting the Cermit and a 12 mo wait, I was allocated the Polar after a total of 17 mo. I am very happy with it and see it as you do - a do it all daily. As far as other watches go, for what you do, look at Sinn. Many great offerings at reasonable prices. A favorite of mine is the Titanium EZM-9. Excited to follow your journey. Hopefully, within a couple of years, my dream trifecta will be complete when the AD calls for the Daytona.

Priceless, you got your Rolex back in record time and still complaining. You could buy a Casio quartz in the meantime while it gets service for 10 bucks.

Been following your Polar Explorer II journey. Glad it’s back to you. It’s my grail and will hopefully get that call from the AD soon. On a side note, maybe your experience is a European thing. I am a Heckler & Koch firearm enthusiast. Anytime I’ve sent a firearm in to HK under warranty I get ZERO explanation on repairs. Any out of warranty work always comes back with details as they bill you for line items. Love your photography. Cheers!

To my understanding you should not service a watch unless you need to, and Rolex has a 10 year service period. If need to. People try to tell you that you should service it often every 2 to 3 years but that is a waste of money these watches are design to run flawlessly for many years.

I had a Tudor GMT pepsi that had the infamous date skip issue. I sent it direct to RSC in Dallas TX, waited 3 months because they needed a part from Switzerland. When it came back I had already lost interest in it & sold it to fund something else. When asked what the issue was, I wasn't told anything on the issue just that a new movement was installed into the watch. When asked for a renewed warranty I was denied. They replaced the entire engine but couldn't give me a new warranty, only said the current warranty was still in effect. Was not impressed with that type of thinking. I sold it as mentioned, but used the funds to get a GMT Master 2 pepsi from late 90s, early 2000s. Haven't had any issues with that legacy movement, so I'll just call it square in the end. Won't go back to a Tudor GMT for a while. On another note, the Black Bay Pro, had the same issue when it was released. No surprise since it's the same movement. Food for thought since you mentioned the Pro at the conclusion of this video.

I worked in a power tools store for some years and I can tell you that if the tool is still under warranty it gets sent in, repaired and the service sheet just says “tool x repaired and serviced” and they never tell you what the issue was unless they charge you for anything, they don’t even tell the store 😅 I know it sounds really weird but almost every industry always wants to keep their under warranty repairs a secret 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s like the motto is “yeah it would have cost you a sh*t load of money to repair it but thank god it’s under our super fantastic warranty, so you don’t need to worry!” 😂

When a service is performed, they replace anywhere from 5-15 internal critical parts. These parts that wear out faster are a mandatory replacement in the automatic assembly and other areas. Patek/Rolex/Omega do that and they are always replaced with the exact same part as what was there previously. The car analogy doesn't work here as it is under warranty and most of the issues always come from the critical parts replaced as indicated higher up. They don't need to tell you that the reversing wheel was missing oiling when they are automatically replacing it and servicing the whole watch. Also anything like a crystal/hands/dial or anything visual is always described in a service paper if replaced.

Hi, amateur watchmaker here. I watched your previous videos on the subject. As for what they actually did to your watch, I think the watchmaker told you what was to be done in part 2, just a service to ensure everything works as it should. Rolex will change worn parts in the movement without telling you but not the dial/hands/crown, etc. Since you didn't get any notice about these things they weren't changed and since it's a fairly new watch the chances are that none of the parts are worn. They probably changed the hairspring and mainspring since these are the parts that may get affected by excessive gauss and especially the hairspring is probably the culprit for the parts and material shortage issue since it's the crazy Parachrom alloy so it's a high chance they swapped out that particular part to be on the safe side of things. Unless you're working on a historical piece, mainsprings are usually always swapped out during service since they are cheap and there's always that little chance you mess up a mainspring slightly while taking it out or winding it to reset it.

Glad you got your watch back! Unfortunate about the hassle.

I dropped my watch at a servicing dealer and I was given a 14 month ETA for repair back in September of 2022. I still haven't received it yet and it's been 11 month so far. I was told not enough servicing parts in -stock since they make there own parts and not enough authorized technicians to service them.

At the prices Rolex charge for their watches customers should expect a more personal experience

Weird, because I know the new Submariner sports a fancy hairspring that is supposed to be almost completely resistant to magnetism.. did this new Explorer 2 not get the new parachrom hairspring?

Yea I definitely would like to know what was changed. Even if the hands or bezel insert were swapped out, as they normally do during a normal wear service. 8-10k watch-yea I’d like to know and have a paper trail of documentation on everything

The watch probably needed to be adjusted/regulated, they said they might need parts and didn't, so it took less time.

Knowing Rolex, they probably just demagnetized the watch, cleaned and reoiled stuff and called it a day. I figure they just skipped the repair behind others with bigger problems, used the standard excuses, had the time, repaired it and informed you.

Rolex is becoming a very arrogant player that really doesn't deserve all that respect, i wouldn't touch a brand that has it's product default in a year time when their customers are on waiting lists to buy the product , then 6 weeks is too much to get it back let alone the poor communication level .

You talk as if you had to go buy a multi-thousand dollar watch to replace your fashion watch to time photography. I don't understand the frame of mind. A $10 casio or the phone in your pocket does an even better job than the piece of jewelry. I'm a watch guy too buy come on.... it's like saying you can't go to the store across the street when your car is out of gas.

I would never send my Rolex to RSC unless it was a modern one under warranty.

Nothing was wrong with it. They cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. Get over it Drama Queen.
