About My Roommate is a Detective (民国奇探):
It is the mid-1920s, and a resourceful young police officer named Qiao Chu Sheng (Zhang Yun Long) is on the trail of a brutal but devious killer.
Realizing that the police force will need some extra help with this difficult case, he decides to form an elite crime-busting detective team.
He reaches out to a young man who has recently returned from studying in Great Britain, Yu Gong Zi (Hu Yi Tian). Qiao Chu Sheng has learned that Yu Gong Zi has remarkable powers of deduction and a brilliant mind - and believes he can help crack this difficult case.
To round off the team, he enlists the help of Bai You Ning (Xiao Yan), a focused young female reporter for a daily newspaper. A free-thinking, independent young woman, she has a strong sense of justice - and pledges to help catch the killer.
Can the trio get to the bottom of the murder case in time to restore order - and bring the dastardly criminal to justice?

I love that they're so comfortable. He did that to stop him from his usual running away (like he always do), and force him to work (like he always do). But there was no awkward or embarassing feeling. I don't ship any of the characters in this drama, I just love this trio like it is (even though he will ends uo with his roommate, bc it's a chinese drama, and it always have a hetero romance). EVen though their current realtionship is goals ~~

This show is actually based on a bl novel and these 2 are the couple but yeah since it’s China they changed it for the show and made it a bromance and he ends up with the girl

As a fan of bl and bromance, I honestly wouldn't have minded the main ending with the girl if she wasn't soooo irritating, annoying and disrespectful. The main was fired because of her, she joined the protestors against the police and on multiple occasions contaminated the crime scene!!. I had to drop despite enjoying the friendship.

@@hayley597 The character was straight so they wouldn't have ended up together either way. However, if he was bi and he chose such a bi** for a partner then yeah this would be the stupidest thing. It is so sad that so many Chinese dramas have the potential to show amazing gay couples or even heterosexual ones but there is always one character that is hella annoying and disrespectful, in which the main falls in love with. This is so unrealistic and delivers the wrong message to the audience: be with someone toxic.

They are so ridiculously comfortable with each other. Generally I like to sail some ships but I'm totally on board with the bromance in this case, it's endearing

The FL was annoying to me. All she does is stick her nose into everything. She sensationalized all the cases sometimes even before evidences are in. Her scathing article got ML fired from his job and she basically without asking moved to his apartment on the premise that she will help pay half the rent. I was like you got him fired, you help pay full rent until he finds a new job. I ended up skip all her parts and I didn't think I missed any major plots. I also don't feel the chemistry between her and ML, but the chemistry between the 2 guys were sensational. I stuck around because of them

Actually I have heard the real script only had male leads but due to chinese policy they hastily added female lead scenes. It's more like winter of begonia type series. You understand the chemistry but can't touch the topic

I couldn’t watch it for long because the girl was sooo annoying!!! The writers had a good thing going and they ruin the show by making the girl annoying! It had potential! This was a nice bromance show but the girl just kept ruining it. I wish they didn’t make her so annoying!

Hate they couldnt make this more just bromance like Untamed...but I get that for chinese audience that would be a tough sell...just wish she wasnt so annoying like I actually thought of slapping her hand when she was stealing his breakfast first episode I think. But the drama is good so I'll look past it...i love how extra these crimes can get tho lol alot goes into commiting the crimea lol
