My Sad News about Budgie Kiwi

Kiwi passed away soon after these last video clips of him. If i tried to take him to the vet, I am almost sure he wouldn't have made it. and I would have rather had him with mein my hands when he passed away.
7 years ago I brought Kiwi home to my parents for Christmas from a pet store, He was a few months old.
Tonight I brought Kiwi and Bee to my home as I left Smokey and Koolaid at my parents just for a change. Kiwi was not talkative and really showed his illness right when I brought him home.
His breathing was laboured as I fed him some liquid vitamin and kept him warm on a heated blanket. I sat with him for an hour until all the sudden he took a deep breath and opened his wings as if he was going to fly! And then, he dropped his wings, his body shook, he let out his breath, and he closed his eyes.
I have never seen a bird die in my hands. Tonight he lay in a blanket in the travel cage as Bee is perched above him on a swing. He seems to know there was something wrong as he was pecking at Kiwi to 'wake up' during the drive home.
It started with only me & him; and it ended with only me & him. 7 years.
Rest in peace little Kiwi. You are safe with your other bird friends and your friend Beaker. I Thank you for teaching me everything about birds.

I know this was so sad for you, but this video did help me when my own bird died. Because I had watched this video before, I knew what to do to comfort my little canary Percy when he was dying last summer. I knew to put him on a soft towel and talk to him because that's all that could be done at that point. It was incredibly sad but I'm glad I was able to maybe make it a bit easier for him.

As soon as I watched this video and read the words under it, I was beyond overcome with tears. It was between 4-7 years ago I was in rehab recovering from a sickness and my grandma was taking care of my beautiful Jaymie. She was my parakeet.I had had her for about 10 years. I was in rehab for 4 months and everything was great with Jaymie until the day before I was to come home. The night before I left rehab for home my grandmother called me late that night. She was very quiet for a long while. I knew something was wrong. Then she said the words every parent (animal parents count too!) dreads to hear: She said : "Jaymie's gone. I just can't believe I have to tell you this,but she's gone. She JUST died tonight. She was fine this morning." My heart stopped working for a few moments after I heard her say that. My whole world came to a screeching halt. I was devastated. I told her, " Leave her alone as she is and I will take care of her tomorrow when I get home." I got home and I just couldn't let her go. I held her in a tiny towel for almost 2 hours. Crying tears all over her tiny body. Then I found a small box, took her favorite chewed up towel and placed a small section in the small box, took her and the towel I had held her in, placed her in the box so she could be buried. I gave her to my aunt who had some land and she buried my Jaymie.

The night before my budgie, Remy, died, he wanted to crawl up into my hoodie right by my neck. He had never done that before. Whenever I was near his cage, he would come almost crawling to the side where I was. The next morning, it hit me he was dying. I stayed on one side of his cage, and he came as close to me as he could. Then I saw him shut his eyes for the last time and he moved no more. Remembering that moment he crawled up in my hoodie made it seem as if he said his final farewell there. I'll never forget that moment. Losing a budgie is heart-breaking.

I had a baby bird, named Rocky. He was an expensive Sun Conure, about $800 dollars. I felt really happy with him, but one day while he was in his cage he looked really ill, then while I was watching him, he collapsed on the floor of the cage. I cried for weeks when my little baby died. He was only 1 year old. We think he died from his food being infected by a type of rat-bite fever, since we had some rats in the house at the time. R.I.P Rocky 2010-2011 ;-;

sad i had a little bird we called her sunny cuz she was very yellow and breen and blue we don't no how she died but she just did we went some were and when we came home she was dead. ;-; R.I.P

Peekaboo Parrots it's ok i was like 5 when it happend so i just remember her very much she was a a grate bird she loved to fly around the house but we had a cat then and still have that cat taz so i think she died of a heart attack.. ;-; my dog died cuz it killed him self with his collar and the more he tried to get out of that mess the tighter i got so he died sad sad days....why is life so bad.. ;-;

My African Grey died this morning. I was woken up by her distressing screeching and came down to find her on the floor of her cage on her belly with her beak through the gap in the cage and her eyes wide open. I managed to stroke her head as I tried to find out what was wrong with her and her calls became more feeble then she died. So sad. She was only 17.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I felt absolutely dreadful when she died. I still miss her. I've left her cage in the same spot as one buddist teaching says it helps to leave your pets home in the same place for up to 7 weeks as it allows the soul of the pet to leave in its own time. It's helped me. Luckily there was a place locally to me that did bird autopsys, so i was able to talk to the scientist about the possible reaosns why my parrot died, in the end we didnt want her body cut up and she is buried in our back garden.

that's how my budgie "Spirit" passed away. I was panicking to get him to the vet and was waiting on my mom to get there and was doing my best to make sure he was pk and still breathing and comfortable when I heard a small pop sound come from inside him and then he died in my hand just as you described. it was like everything stopped when I heard his last breath and I couldn't do anything but cry.

if god gave us souls thatll go to heaven but didnt bother for the other creatures then he is not a god i want to give any respect to. why do humans get to be the only ones to have a reward after death? so many other animals have a horrible life, especially by the hands of us humans, and they dont get any sort of reward for the love and forgiveness they shared? thats awful. i want no part of it. if they cant get a good time after death then i would just feel guilty if i did.

One went on Good Friday, another on Valentine's Day, and the last one on Christmas Eve... This made me cry as well.. I had a lil budgie who had seizure issues and probably a stroke at the end. All you can do is make them as comfortable as possible. It's so sad, I'm sorry for your loss. You're so good to those birds, I'm sure he had a great life.

this reminds me of my grandmother's well technically not hurt technically my great-grandfather he had a cockatiel the head if an accident and he died because he willing to the fan and unconsciousness

I'm so sorry for your loss. I also had a budgie named Kiwi. I'm on my 5th budgie right now. His name is Sprite. He's light green & yellow & had him for three years so far doing great. One of my first budgies lived to be 9 years old & he had a very healthy life until he had a stroke hours before he died. He could still move, but couldn't get up. Very sad.

I feel really sorry for your pet budgie Kiwi ,it was really touching. It reminds me of my baby budgie. When I went home from school, he was on the bottom of his cage, then he died. I really miss him. He died in March 2013. But I still miss him even though it's already a year. Good thing you had your last moments with him. RIP Cotton and Kiwi
