This is a little walkthrough of all my scuba equipment. It's an assortment of scubapro and aqualung gear.

For travel, I love my HydrosPro BCD w/ Air2 reg and Mk25/A700 reg. My primary is a little longer and has flexi hose for easy hand off for those in need. I use a Teric with Air Integration for a minimalist set up. I do have a pressure gauage for back up. My HydrosPro BCD backpack also fits my Cressi Mask, reg, boots and torch. My Nova fins fit easily in my check baggage. My dive gear is my carry on. For travel, all I need is a tank & weights. Thanks for showing your gear. Love the enthusiasm.

Just ordered the Mako for my set up.

Two things I would change/add immediately: Put your transmitter on a short hose. That way, if it gets knocked, it won't break as easily. Get a line cutter in addition to your Mako. I recommend the EezyCut Trilobite. It's cheap, and extremely sharp and versatile. For replacement fins, I don't think you can go wrong with a pair of Apeks RK3's. I personally am one of those that hates the AIR2. For the price you can get an excellent 2nd stage. Since you're doing primary donate, put your primary second stage on a 5-7ft long hose. A dive torch isn't a bad idea. Even during a day dive it can be useful looking into crevices or bring back color at depth. I didn't see a dSMB. Not sure if you have one. You don't need one for quarry diving, but when you dive in large bodies of water with boat traffic, it's a must have.

Evan, most of your kit is solid. Loose the fins, get something with a wider blade if you want to stay with shorter fins. Deep6 Eddys or Apeks Rk3. Get yourself a nice regulator bag to properly store regulator and transmitter. A larger bag so you can get all your gear in comfortably without pinching bcd or collapsing fins. Lastly get a traditional safe 2nd, octopus with longer hose we use 40 to 48". Hard to swim with inline octo and paniced diver in your face. How can you safely vent air on an ascent? Get yourself a spool and smb, practice and learn to use it. Just MHO dive safe!

Ok advice, but you left out the most important: ditch the yoke primary for a din…

I used the nova for about 2 years great fins, but for travel and moving on boat the go sport are fantastic, great maneuverability in the water, I am in Scotland so do mainly cold water with drysuit and about 3 holiday a years in hot water go sport all the way

Not gonna hate on your gear . Dive what what works for you. I do agree with adding an SPG. Enjoy your dives and stay safe.

There are few things missing: Analogue SPG, I can see you have a transmitter, but simple analogue SPG would give you a good backup and it requires no batteries. DSMB with a spool or a ratchet wheel. Flashlight - better two of them - primary and a backup one. Backup mask. Backup computer.
@scubacro5758
@scubacro5758 Жыл бұрын
I would not use ratchet reel, spool is better or if you want to go fancy dive rite 45m reel looks 👌. Backup computer you don't need, he is very clearly recreational diver and there is no need for two compoters, if it brakes underwater, just follow your dive buddys computer or if you are alone for some reason, just slowly accend and use 5m marking on your dsmb line for safety stop. And remove that from your inflator hose, buy cheep scubapro octo second stage

Like a few others, lack of backup air gauge is the thing that I think is missing. I love reducing the number of tubes from my first stage too but relying on a single electronic pressure sensor for something as important as air is I think a risk.

Other than the battery dying, the failure rate of a transmitter and an SPG isn't that different. I personally dive with a transmitter and an SPG, but I have redundancy in various other equipment as well (spare mask, multiple cutting tools, primary and backup light, two spools and two dSMB's, analog compass, spare bolt snaps). For most people, I don't think the redundancy is necessary, and choosing either an SPG or a transmitter is fine.

The part of your set up that makes me a little uneasy is the lack of SPG. If you only dive shallow I am sure it is a non issue, but if your main computer fails you wont have a backup. At a minimum, you should have a pressure gauge.
@connorwilsonbikes111

I use just a teric and transmitter I think they are reliable enough to use along as you aren't doing deco for me anyway I trust it and if it does fail you'll have a buddy and should generally know your air presures around abouts so you can just end the dive

I use the same setup and love it as well. It looks like you’ve got a solid rig. If you decide to upgrade fins, I recommend the ScubaPro Seawing Nova 2s. My whole family dives them and they work great for us. They also strap nicely to the HydrosPro backpack.

Just purchased the SP A700 Black Carbon Reg and R195 octo. Figured there was no point in buying budget, just to turn around and buy a nicer reg later. Now for the $1200 BCD and dive computer.. lol

Almost everyone who buys this high end gear either never use it and I get it for half price on ebay or will never require such a high end reg for banana boat diving.

@@ts440s best regulator is apeks xtx50 with dst first stage(in my opinion), I have two of them for twins. Very good regulator that you can use for tec diving and recreational, price is in between, its not expensive but its not that cheep and its cold water rated👌
@ts440s
@ts440s Жыл бұрын
@scuba cro Check out regulator geeks if you want to learn a lot about regulators what I've learned is I'll buy scubapro for my son because he can have it his whole life and get it serviced or sell it and get a good return on it when I buy it half price on a open box 370 mk11. As for me after watching there videos I see deep6 regs or HOG just as good as scubapro at a fraction of the price but if money is no option like many of these rich kids on here then buy scubapro.

Tell me you didn't spend 1200 on a bcd. They sell this gear all day, barely used on ebay for a fraction of the price. Also, why not just buy plate and wing set up it will last forever, and you'll never grow out of it.

Whats wrong with apeks?
@bloodymarvelous4790
@bloodymarvelous4790 8 ай бұрын
@@scubacro5758 In the US, Apeks is very expensive. In Europe, they're on par with ScubaPro when it comes to price. But Apeks is geared more towards technical diving, and a lot of rec divers don't really look into that kinda gear. Me personally, I love the design philosophy of Apeks. Their gear is designed by and for divers. I love XDeep as well, they're innovators and pretty much bang-on with everything they design. Apeks is more traditional in their approach. I have almost exclusively Apeks gear: VX-1 masks, WTX-D40 PSD wing on a SS backplate, RK3 fins, MTX regulators, Luna X primary and Luna Mini backup dive lights, Lifeline spools, and an orange and yellow dSMB. All my bolt snaps are XDeep. My computer is a Shearwater Perdix AI with Swift transmitter. Suunto SK-8 compass. Wetsuits and rashguards are by Fourth Element.
