I found a live cowrie a few months back it's very dark brown with white spots it looks like it's almost made out of glass however my little brother scratched it up pretty badly and it doesn't look as pretty and shiny as when I just found it

I have thousands like you have but I snorkled for them as I like FREEBIES....lol I would never think about buying them and have no clue what you paid but why don't you go snorkle for them as a hobby if you like them so much? I have HUGE ones including huge pieces of coral... One time a boat came telling me I was in shark country and to move closer to shore but the big ones are in coral beds out in deep water... I have these kinds of shells decorating my flower beds and pool area...Cool ~MM~

it is a nice collection, but rather "superficial" imho, at that quick glance i see the usual suspects, from cypraea tigris over conus leopardus to melo melo, bread and butter conches - my collection, though very old, has only a few specimen (about 100, no doubles), but some gourmet and odd pieces, as far as i could get them in pre internet days
