In today's video we carry on with the Seat Leon Cupra, but I stumble across a problem I don't want to fix for safety reasons. Find out what it is and what's next for the Cupra.

I’ve been watching Deans content since the first Skoda wagon he bought & I had the same car, & I’m seriously impressed with the content, diversity, & success rate of the salvaged cars that have followed. Sometimes you make a mistake & no amount of effort or money will get a satisfactory result. At least you’ve still got lots of good salvageable parts for other cars in the VW/Audi/Skoda/SEAT family & future projects. Please continue with more cars like this, there is very little content that shows viewers everything the way you do. The ups & downs are so relatable for me, & it shows you’re human like the rest of us. Great little series on this anyway & I’ve learnt heaps. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺!

Back in the 1970s and 80s (I don’t remember before that) cars used to rust like that after just a few years. You were very lucky to get 10 years out of a car, and rust bubbles would often appear within three or four years. Really did not expect to see it on a newer car though, even if exposed to seaside salt. Enjoy your videos, though, always impressed with your skills, knowledge and sheer hard work.

You called this one correctly, there is a learning package here for most to benefit from. Rust is the enemy of almost every car on the road. Clearly with hindsight, the rust on the wings was a pointer to trouble, the state of the rear suspension amplified the 'rotten' message. This is one for the great motorway in the sky, or more simply, the scrapyard. If you try to recover the value of the parts that you installed, how buoyant is the market for a one 'man breaker' business?

With doing restoration work. It's always twice as bad as it looks sometimes much worse. With modern car's of today you have to be careful not to compromise the crumple zones with over welding and use a proper spot welding machine as much as possible be they are made to brake on impact where welding is so much stronger.

I bought a Passat TDI from a local car sales here in Glasgow. I took my mechanic guy with me, he said it looked OK, apart from the usual wheel arches, which had been done once already. He did mention that it looked like a builder had used it before, as it was filled with orange sand. Speaking to the guy selling it he said it had had 1 lady owner before me who live in Aberdeen and had used the car to take her dogs to the beach, which was backed up by the log book. Long story short, I had the car for about 4 years before it failed the MOT with subframe rust. It was the same as this car thou, the engine was great, but the body was fucked.

So at the end the "Mistakes " are not really a bad thing, it teach you a lesson for another project in the future , but i can understand the frustration at the end when you have to put your tools on the floor because on a totally rusted car like this one.
