For clarification as someone whose mom is CURRENTLY doing peritoneal dialisys and waiting for a transplant, after a certain age you stop being a candidate for transplant unfortunately. Hope this explains why she would have to do dialisys for the rest of her life.

Joe2 is Joe3's stand-in for Mom, he is again Tong's stand-in in the movie, and now he is the stand-in for Joe1 for Ming but he still thinks Ming loves Tong so Joe2 thinks he is also Tong-stand-in to Ming irl! I actually love the convoluted turn this has taken 😅 It was another good episode, can't wait to see what happens

About Joe choices, lets see more than surface situations. Ming will never leave Joe, will follow him with fierce intensity you cannot fight with. Also Mings family is a strong one in country- politically, business, huge influence, so a police call would be a waist of time for Joe. Sol would pay medical bills, but he wont give 5 mil. bahts to a stranger. Wut doesnt have the ammount (in novel all he could give Joe was 50.000 bahts). Why Joe is making his old jobs? Well, if you would come back from a long disease what would you immediatly do to cover a huge debt? Doing what you made all time as a professional or something new where you have to learn, having any conection and being pay on your new level? Joe is forced of all contexts of his new life - sick mother, huge debts to cover, integration with a new body in a new life- choose what he doesnt like. He grew up without parents since 8 years- learning and fighting alone with life chalenges. Also being gay since teen ages was not easy for Joe. So Joe is not weak at all! He is so strong - being an orphan and growing alone, fighting alone and remain kind hearted, not involved in bad things! Any of these 2 lifes is kind with Joe. He has now a mother but she fall sick so quick. Is also followed by Ming in both lifes. So in real life what Joe is forced to live since his 8 years age would literally made many people loose their minds or go to therapist or simply become assholes and badass. But Joe remained balanced, so kind hearted, so full of compasion.

I mean it shows that Joe does have a choice, two other choices for money other than choosing Ming, it's not just that he doesn't wanna borrow money. I mean from the start Joe been quite obsessed with Ming. It's not just Ming being obsessed/in love with a back from a movie and then old Joe but them being pretty similar.

Agreed, they were quite obvious with other options: both Wut & Sol offered on their own, Joe didn't even had to ask... And they both mentioned it was a loan & he could pay it back later...

This tragedy is a combination of being forced by the circumstances, lack of wits, and Ming(🙄🤦🏻‍♀️) Working as a stand-in is the only thing he knows, and working with Tong is a sure deal. Plus he needs a big amount of money asap to pay the loan sharks off. Yes, Joe could borrow the money from Wut or Sol, but they don’t know him that well in this life, and also Wut has a family to take care of Joe would never accept money from him. Also Joe sees Sol as his junior( Like Yei and Yak). As an older brother he’s ashamed to burden Sol. Yes, Joe is not that bright. Where I come from we would say that wisdom is chasing Joe but he is faster. You know whose even faster than the both of them? Ming! Ming would’ve get Joe as his paramour one way or another. ‘Cause he’s selfish like that. And Joe knew that. Might as well give in when he at least has the chance to negotiate a house and money for his mother 🤷🏻‍♀️ What I am curious about is that if(more like when…🙄) they end up together will the audience consider it a happy ending? ‘Cause I won’t. People seem to confuse the fact that them ending up together is a happy ending. ‘Cause all corgis are dogs but not all dogs are corgis Not all stories need a happy ending. The ending just need to make contextual sense. And it makes sense that Joe will end up with Ming, ‘cause Ming will make sure of that. He’s that obsessed and selfish

Yes, even if they do end up together, it is not a happy ending - it could make sense, but it would make me feel bad for Joe because he deserves better. Maybe it is more realistic if they stay together. The fantasy would actually be that Joe breaks free from this vicious cycle that he seems to be repeating no matter what body he is in... Maybe this story isn't even a romance but rather a tragedy of being stuck with your karma 😅

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNecorOomt3UZGw.htmlsi=WkQn8gLwUQHO5IEO Contrapoint's Twilight video was so informative and gave me a framework to analyse fantasies and the romance genre. I'm still comprehending all of it but in reference to this show this is how I view things: The circumstances have created a situation in which Ming, the one with power, is able to absolve Joe of all responsibilities and burdens (financially). At the same time, this pseudo-contract they're in also gives permission for Joe to reciprocate Ming's desire even though all sense tells him not to. This 'permission' absolves Joe of 'responsibility' and 'agency' in his pursuit of Ming, allowing a sense of freedom where he does not have to be modest, humble, or conflicted over judgement- a pressure felt by those in conservative societies. It's a fantasy where we can let go of thought, insecurity, anxiety and express desire openly because we no longer are accountable for our decisions as they are made for us. There's also layers of value and fantasy being attributed to Joe giving himself a monetary value and being coveted by a powerful rich man. Romantic partners often validate a sense of your desirability and having someone powerful pursue you and pay you for your love enhances this idea. Joe is starting to gain some semblance of worth and power from his previous powerlessness and at the same time it's because someone is obsessed over him. It's a fantasy of ultimate validation where we explore the lengths Ming will go to have Joe. There's also desire that is cultivated by taboos - and desire builds in relation to how forbidden something is. This is reflected in Ming's toxicity and the internal conflict of Joe - and the temptation of Ming vs literally what happened to Joe and it being an obvious bad idea. IDK if this makes sense but also I would not condone people acting out these fantasies into their real lives.

First off I'd like to say that I enjoy yalls reaction, yall are more realistic. Second, Joe is a dumbass. Wut and Sol offered him help but he thought the best thing was to pimp himself out for a year? REALLY!? I'll forever like Sol. I still don't like Ming and I LOATHE Tong. I know the show will put them together in the end but I'm not going to like it.
