My Daley's Sweet Gold star fruit I got in September started getting flowers in December (had a Kary for a few years that never flowered then) did yours not make it after being delivered in rough shape?

It's still in ICU with the original pot.

For a 12 year old grafted plant it still looked rather compact and dwarf.usually a grafted carambola will be over 4 metres tall here .only marcotted carambola will remain dwarf

Glad they are looking so good at the end of the Summer even if they remain challenging. Keeping them alive indoors over here is near impossible, they hate the dry atmosphere and spider mite attacks 🙄🙄

If memory serves me right on the rare fruit society of south australia website they have a fruited list and i think they suveyed some carambola trees all of those that they surveyed none had fruited check it out, however I saw a carambola tree years ago with boutiful fruit in adelaide in lockleys which was apparently former torrens river flood plain so maybe the soil is better I think type was kary however so many years ago can't remember clearly

Not sure, as I've only tasted unnamed varieties from our travels to the tropics. There's just not enough humidity here for some of the tropicals I have, even with a La Nina year, we had only 2 weeks of humidity all summer, normally dry summers, hand watering almost every day.

What other trees especially the different varieties of citrus do well can thrive in bright sun with no direct sun 🌷

Any citrus is a champ in the sun. Even at only months old, White Sapote is the first prize winner in direct sun, where almost any sooky tropical would either suffer or die back. Starfruit, longan, lychee, ice cream bean, brazilian cherry, mulberry, persimmon, pomegranate, loquat and some others can take all day sun.

Arnt they FRUSTRATING? Ive been using potash since early spring a few times and had flowers in one or two spots since late November - one small flower group just finishing now - slow release always there but I did potash and bat guano phosphorus and black grit 2 weeksago and hoping for March flowers now?????

Mine have been unresponsive to any pampering, I've thrown everything at them. I bet they would fruit instantly with consistent high humidity which we lack.
