Anna, I love all your videos but this one was so special. I'm a single mom of three wonderful children. I am fortunate as I have to date done well for myself all by myself. No help from the dad's unfortunately. However this video brought back so many good and hard memories for me. My parents are immigrants and worked extremely hard for all we had. My beautiful and strong mom did it all most of the time. The memories we have and made were simple but memorable. Like you said, you don't have to have money (it helps) but love and good intentions can make a great time and wonderful family memories. Thank you for this video it was FANTASTIC.

I love the idea of removing the clock and I do try to do this on my days off. I've been an empty nester for a while now and it sure was a struggle in the beginning. Thanks for sharing your day with us and reminding us that it doesn't have to cost a ton to find joy in the everyday things!

Not only am I soon to be an empty nester, I lost my sweet husband of 30 years … a year ago today. 💔💔💔 We had so many plans, but God had other ones… I have been leaning on the verse “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil 4:13 …. Hi Anna ... I came from a working class family, three girls, two working parents..money was tighter than a girdle in July !! But we never felt like we were poor. My best memories with my kids are the things we did for free .. fireworks, going to the park, the museums . I agree with the person who said your video was better than a therapist session, you voiced what we have all felt at some point in our lives. It seems like all of us can relate to those simpler times when it didn’t take much to enjoy life. Hi Anna! Love this video, but I really love them all. I think there are many things you can do for free and have fun. Yesterday my family and went to the beach and when we got got home we put on some music and had a dance party. It was so great!

Oh Anna, your memory of the 4th of July many years ago parallels a memory of mine as a young mom. I have a fond memory of my husband and I taking our 3 young kids in the car with a thermos of hot cocoa, a brown paper bag filled with homemade popcorn and parking at an overlook to our city where we looked at all the bridges lit up and twinkling and watched the Christmas boats cruise up and down the river. It was magical and free! Our kiddos saw a view of the city not visible every day. They still remember that and they are 30 and 27. Warms my heart! Again, thank you for sharing your story and reminding me that it’s ok to relax and enjoy each day! I’m so grateful for all I have in my life. I’m loving retirement in my new home ❤🌴🇺🇸

I did good Anna🙏 I woke up, I took him out, did my Bible study and Bible journaling and like I always do took a shower, said my prayers🙏had my prayer meeting today with the ladies at my church 😊that just started my day off bright❤ and then I did my weights, I didn’t walk. It was way too hot by the time I was done with my prayer meeting. I took the boy out for a couple laps around the townhouse area and that’s it. I had a salad for dinner and now I am watching you.❤ love to you and Ernie for me and Otis, God bless and stay safe❤

Anna I can so relate to this! Time flies when you’re in the thick of parenting & overwhelmed. Now having all of the time in the world I was sometimes lost. It has been a struggle but now I am embracing it, thankful for this time. I am still a mom & needed in that roll. I am still a wife & homemaker, still needed in those rolls. It’s was all about changing my mindset. Grateful is where my heart is now days & it makes all the difference in my attitude. Thanks for sharing, not enough people speak on this time of life.

Wouldn't be surprised if your boys still remember that 4th. Maybe for different reasons. For one, they never realized the financial difficulties that were going on. They just knew they had a great time/childhood. Now, as adults, they appreciate and know what the situation was and that they had a happy childhood. Hope that all made sense, lol. San Diego is, or was, a pretty city. I lived in Fallbrook from 1966-1969, in northern San Diego county. The zoo there was the first zoo I had ever been to.

My husband has had alot of heath issues since retirement .He is really having issues with not being able to do the things that he used to do ,also We did everything together but alot that I cannot do we live in the country on 3 acres. We are having to find a new way ,does that mean it's worse or wouldn't have the joy we have had here? No, We just have to try ❤❤❤❤❤

Love the maxi dress for FL. Pasta dish looks amazing, I will be trying that. I didn't want my 1st born (son) to ever leave. I secretly cried every night when he was 17 bc I knew my time w him was short. He finally left at 25 after going to college for 4 yrs. Now he has given me my precious Grandson! As for my 2nd child she moved out as soon as she graduated high school. Now she has given me a Granddaughter! Little did I know these babies would become my best friends❤❤! Life keeps forging ahead & for me I remain humble & grateful to Our Lord for my blessings!

My husband and I had different days off while raising our two boys. I worked in corporate office jobs and he in retail sales and I felt at times a single mom on the weekends with my boys but we still had holidays and vacations together. He had the boys during the week in the summer on his days off so that was great for the boys. I’m retired and he is still working at 63 of course and for the first time we have his days off together. So, yes I still struggle with not having my days filled with busyness. I am so greatfull for our time together now.

Such a sweet memory! They truly were none the wiser. I grew up poor but my family was happy despite the circumstances. I didn’t even notice till I got married. My husband and I are very blessed to have more.

I enjoyed your story about the 4 th. oh the simpler times . Back in the 60’s growing up no AC on these dog days of summer as we called them. So we packed the cars up and off to the lakes we went for the day. Came home good and tired. Fell asleep in front of the black and white tv after a long day of swimming. Or going for long bike rides. Not coming back til dark. Now we just enjoy sitting in our back yard under the over hang relaxing. Of course after a dip in our pool. Retirement is the best…
