from my understanding, it allows your basic attack to proc ability item procs. it also increases the damage of your next basic attack, basically allows AA gods to proc shit like heartseeker and crusher. But its also good ability based gods as well since you can almost always proc a basic attack between abilities anyway

Duality makes your next auto to do 25% of your Basic attack dmg as ability dmg every 3 seconds, since this dmg its ability it can proc most ability dmg procs related items, as bluestone, hearthseeker and crusher. So your next basic does a 25% extra dmg (5% less than an hydras auto) plus all your proc items that does dmg, IE hearthseeker. The problem with this item its the same as weaving abilities quick on enemies, bluestone, hearthseeker and crusher does 50% less dmg on subsequent procs in a few seconds, so you lose 50% of your duality proc dmg in most situations, This means that picks that start with an ability lose potential on duality procs, but kali in the other hand that opens with a dmgless stun procs duality for full dmg or ravana that has a 0.75 multiplier on his first auto so aa resets feels a bit weaker than the average assassin. in exchange duality its godsend poke item since you can just auto someone from time to time and do significant dmg from long distance with ability carries, but will lacks sustained dmg of other items, unless you want to sacrifice something less important in your build. that make its a situational item more than a core item
