In this video, I purchased an old glider RC plane, the T-Hawk Jxt4, from Goodwill Shopping. This was my first ever flight with an RC plane, but it didn't go as planned. However, it has opened up a new hobby for me, and I plan to spend more time improving my skills. Be sure to subscribe to my channel to follow my journey from beginner flyer to pro. Learn from my mistakes and join me on this exciting adventure.

Besides having no gyro and other stabilization, this is the best beginner plane type you can start with. Other planes with a prop on the nose would not have survived as much this plane from all those crashes. You need to just set it up properly. Flipping the prop will feel like you just gained 800% more horsepower.

The prop I have for this plane has a slightly unconventional mounting mechanism to the motor. However, I do have an extra prop that I can try flipping to see how it performs. It's surprising that I didn't think of trying that initially just by looking at it. Nevertheless, I am fully aware that balancing the plane is crucial. I will take your recommendation and try this very soon. Thank you for your comment and for watching.

When you launch it , throw firmly and level. When it leaves your hand it’s pointed up then one wing stalls and it spirals in. Practice throwing it level ( use the tail boom as a reference) without letting it go. I have 4 T-hawks, good flyer.

I will try this , I did find it was really nose heavy with the mods I have done so I probably going to balance it before my next run. Thanks for the comment and support.

Wow, blast from the past! I have one still kicking around in the garage but the motor and servos are tired. I flew the heck out of that thing, loved it. You've inspired me to maybe dust it off and restore it. I have a bunch of spare parts, went through a bunch of wings back in the day. On one of my wings I made a poster board "pod" and I put one of those parachute toys in it and took it up high, cut the throttle and dove to eject the guy and he'd float down. Great times! Don't give up! Hard to say what exactly was wrong in your flight attempts. Certainly need to get the CG right, it did seem a little pitchy. Not certain but it sounded like you reduced the throttle just after tossing it, if so don't do that, just keep it at full throttle and don't pull up much until you get your speed up and get some altitude. In working order it should easily take off from the pavement, I did lots of touch and goes with mine. Hand launching should be very easy too.

I'm glad I could inspire someone with the failures I had. I'm new to this and maybe I went a little against my own instruction to upgrade too much before understanding the basics, and well, I just sent it. I went to a bigger motor, changed all the electronics in the plane, and didn't do any research that should have been done before the flight. Thank you for your comment and input.

8:07 Your prop is on backwards. Flip it and change the direction of the motor again. You are losing most of its efficiency. It should fly out of your hand and cruise at 1/4 throttle with that motor.

Yes, the prop is backwards. I think I may have mentioned this in a previous comment. However, thanks to all of you, I now know how to fix it. I have already made the necessary adjustments and I'm currently working on a video that addresses the mistakes I made and provides guidance on how to correct them in the future. If the rain would let up long enough for me to finish shooting the video, I should have it ready in a few weeks. I truly appreciate this community and the support I've received through the comments. As a newbie in the world of RC planes, it's been incredibly helpful to learn from all of you. My goal is to grow together and help others learn from my mistakes.

This was my first plane with servos! Just throttle, rudder and elevator. No gyros, no training mode, and just sluggish enough to learn from mistakes. They do not make ‘em like this anymore!

I've noticed though I've changed most of the parts on this plane. It's currently down due to someone interrupting my flight, which resulted in it going straight into the lake. However, I found a site that sells every original part for it, so I've stocked up on almost everything to keep it in the air as long as possible. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Go on YOU TUBE and learn how to balance the model front to rear. The point should be about 1/3 back from the front (leading edge) of the wing. Move the sticks in very small amounts (dont jerk them ) Remember that the left and right control direction reverses when it flies toward you. toward you: move stick to the right the airplane will turn left. When learning just make left turns so the plane flies a rectangle path.

I have started looking at some videos and I'm about to try and set up a balance setup. I don't know why I didn't think of this before trying to fly. Thank you for watching and for your input.

I had one of these and it was loads of fun till it I flew ot to far away and it lost signal and flew off never to be seen again 😂🤣 I think I still have the transponder around here somewhere lol When I first started building foam board planes the first pusher prop design I built I had these same issues cause I had no clue how pusher props work lol Definitely need the prop turning in the correct direction and a pusher prop not a tractor prop and the prop has to be put on facing in the correct direction, If you have the plane pointing away from you, the motor should be turning counter clockwise if not it will cause torque roll and thrust issues. You need to angle the motor a bit to the right and up if not it will cause pitch uses and torque roll issues also. I suggest getting the 1.1m AeroScout, I have one and it is absolutely awesome. The RTF version is about $250 and it comes with a decent Spectrum transponder 3S lipo Spectrum smart battery and charger and it has telemetry which tells you when your battery is getting low so you dont run out of power and crash lol it also has self leveling mode which is awesome for beginners. Imo it is the best pusher prop trainer for the price. ✌🏻

I got this plane at an extremely cheap price, and it looked almost new except for the box. However, I had to change all the servos because the original ones were almost non-functional, and the ESC was bad. After the first flight, the motor was also dead, so I changed it to a brushless one, as seen at the end of the video. Upon re-watching, I noticed that it was actually flying better with the original setup, and after swapping the motor, it was worse. I know that the balance might have been a factor, and the other issue could be the torque problem you mentioned. I really want to get this plane flying properly before investing in any more planes, but I'll keep the one you suggested in mind. Thank you for watching and commenting - it really helps! Make sure to subscribe as I travel down this new road of RC planes and learn along the way.

@@RatchetBuildz That's awesome you found this plane in such great condition, yeah definitely don't give up on it. You can change the direction of the motor by switching any 2 wires, just in case you didn't know. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I have no problem helping in any way I can. If you're not aware of the YT channel FliteTest I highly recommend checking them out, they have loads of great information and loads of awesome planes. I subscribed ✌🏻

Hey bud, we had these things 20 years ago give or take and they flew fantastic well kind of but were the in thing.. They were called Electra fun.. Is too easy to re power and use 3s lipos 1400 size just fits and get it up quickly and increase fin size and elevator slightly and will fly easily... Since they flew with brushed motor and nicad it's too easy to re power them if yu get it right...

Yes, I changed the original motor to a brushless system and also replaced the controller with new servos. I am going to try and balance the plane and then re-test it. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

Yes, the prop was installed backward, and I was also running it in reverse. I still need to check if I can find the correct prop this time. Additionally, I plan to balance the plane and see if that improves its performance. I have been watching older videos of this plane and gathering input from others who used to fly it. My plane's performance has been quite poor, likely due to my own intervention.
