My TEGU LOCKED ME OUT of my Own Reptile Room!

So this one is a video you don't see every day. I couldn't script this stuff if I tried! In this video, my spoiled brat of an Argentine black and white tegu decides to barricade my door and effectively locks me out of my own room. It's only with the help of a timely neighbor (thanks again John!) and a putty knife that I was able to get back in. Lizard-scolding ensues.

I just found out The Great Basin Whiptail are in the same family as Tegus. There's a little one keeping my garden aphid, ant, and gnat free. She seems highly intelligent. Great neighbor btw!!

What about just find somewhat thick wire put it under the door and lift the chairs so you can push, or screw of locks push in lock and push wire thrue to lift chairs

A juvenile would do great in that but it’s a tad on the small side for an adult. Maybe with frequent exercise! I’d recommend at least 6x4, most would say 8x4x4.

Hey one lesson of the story is have the right tools I saw you try to use a Philips head when you could have gone to your hardware store and got a screwdriver with a square head and that would have saved money

Hey bro, I have a question: Is it okay for me to live with my Argentine tegu without cage but with a heat source, lighting and uvb light He can free roam in my room And the feces/poop wont matter cause i have a material used to pick up his poop So is it okay? Or do they really need a cage

That works just fine for me, but Blue does still spend most of his time sleeping in his cage. They need a cage (or tub) to act as a hide box and to stay at the right level of humidity.
