I think there's no better example of WTA weak era (at the time) when most of the seeds didn't perform and fell. Not her fault of course and she made the most of it. I think she has a decision to make whether to focus on tennis or marketing.

It says more about the WTA than anything. While Raducanu is the most extreme example, the WTA is full of one slam wonders. The women are so much more influenced by confidence - it feels like anyone in the top 200 can go on a roll and come from nowhere to slam win.

It took the 'young gun' 3 weeks not 2 due to participating in 'qualies' which encompasses 10 matches. Being able to handle media and hype doesn't guarantee beating all and sundry, who may have come her way in only her 2nd ever slam without dropping a set !!

As a Brit I really think I can speak for all of us in that, we really don't care that much if Raducanu does well or bad. The media is just this other beast the hypes players and and destroys them, and the Brits hate it, and see it for what it is.

Absolute rubbish. 1. She didn’t fire her coach, he was there as a short term agreement whilst she was at the USO. After the USO there was come discussion about continuing, however Andrew Richardson was not going to be able to commit in the longer term. The myth of her sacking Richardson has been perpetuated and just isn’t the case. 2. a career in sport is a short one, it can end at any time due to injury and even if it goes full term, at the highest level you’re looking at 15 years, although there are exceptions to that. The idea that a player shouldn’t take the financial opportunities presented to her because she’s new on tour etc, is frankly preposterous. A LOT of money has been invested in Raducanu just to get to the point of competing on the tour, there has to be a return. She has chosen to be a professional athlete, that’s her job, she’s not a charity and needs to earn money like all of us, however she’s also very fortunate that it’s a lucrative career if managed correctly. She was 18 when she won USO, the pressure on her intensified after her win, that’s a massive change for a girl who was at school just a few months earlier, what realistically did you expect?

If we take your facts as given, the average tennis fan is not familiar with things like her contract details What the fans see is 1) a fickle girl who split with a coach that helped her over the top and 2) a girl cashing in on her looks, while her playing performance declines. If she does the media/advertising tours AND performs on the court, like Sharapova or Venus, she would not get the hate. As to your specifics, I would expect most low ranked players to be on short term arrangements with coaches; and she is said to have gone through 5 coaches in 2 years.

It was 2021 not 2020. Also you say players weren't prepared but Covid was over and Emma herself had very little preparation given that a few months earlier she was doing her A-Levels.

She won it in 2021. Only 3 of the top 20 weren't playing, so it was still competitive. It was just that the some of the big names lost early. Despite that she still played Sakkari, would have got to the French Open semi-final that year, and Bencic, who had just won the Olympics.

6 of the top 10 lost to two players (Sakkari d. #10 Kvitova, #6 Andreescu, #4 Pliskova and Fernandez d. #2 Sabalenka, #3 Osaka, #5 Svitolina), 1 lost in R4 (#8 Krejcikova d. #9 Muguruza), and 4 top 8 reached the QF. Bencic (d. by Raducanu) took out #7 Swiatek in R4 and just won Olympic gold and is a former top 10. Sakkari has been a top 10 player since September 2021. The only luck was dodging Barty in the 4th round and maybe Fernandez gauntlet run, but even then she beat so many quality players that it’s hard to say it was a lucky finals opponent
