Honestly,as someone who is a fan of both Bruce Faulconer and Shinsuke Kikuchi,the best option outside of The Dragon Boxes is the Blu Ray season Sets. They are completed( unlike the level sets),uncut,include all of the filler,and has the Audio/music options to satisfy hardcore fans. If the Dragon Boxes included the the Faulconer Score I'd hunt them down in an instant,but they dont and until they release a product with the Quality of the Dragon Boxes/and the Japanese audio and Funimation du. @@hellodigitalworld8224 I just thought about starting a project like this a few days ago but it will be expensive and time consuming. The Dragon Boxes being the holy grail go for HUGE amounts of money, especially if all 7 volumes are included. There's one on Ebay right now like that for $1,850. Then for upscaling, you could go for Topaz Labs which is pretty good at keeping in grain and details despite the upscale. That's about another $200. The Orange Bricks (for the Faulconer score) shouldn't much, about $60. Of course you'll need one of the DBZ single DVDs with the opening you want (Rock the Dragon or the Toonami version) and that'll be another $20-$30. Only things left to get would be a good DVD ripper and a good software for editing menus, chapters and burning discs if you want physical media. That should be another $100-$150. So in total to fix DBZ, it'll cost nearly $2,300! Thank you for screwing us Funimation!

This is a solid review, man! I'm very tempted to buy these... I currently own the Dragon Boxes, however, I recently upgraded to a 70" tv and, ironically, any DVD looks slightly fuzzy. For that reason alone, this Blu-R ay set would seem to be superior, however, I can't get over how different the colors look. I want to convince myself that it won't matter, but anytime I see a side-by-side, it totally does. I agree with what you said in your video. They should release a Dragon Box level Blu Ray set or go back to releasing the actual Level Sets. A boy can dream...

Yeah I personally prefer the steelbooks. Grain wasn't drawn-in by the original artists, it's an artifact if the technology in the 80s. The less grain, the more it looks as officially intended. The detail loss due to DNR isn't noticeable for me. If you compare frame by frame, I can see the difference but... Completely unnoticeable while watching. Colors look great too.
@lancedolan3 жыл бұрын
@@fldsmdfr9107 dude look up images of the original celluloids. There's exactly zero grain in every single piece of art used to produce every single episode of dragon Ball z. The grain doesn't occur until they use their crappy 1980s technology to photograph the celluloids onto film. Dragon Ball z episodes have grain for the reason that anything you watch on a VCR tape has grain: it was a limitation of the technology, not an intended characteristic of the original image.
