This was a really good breakdown thanks for all the hard work Alex! I think there’s absolutely some bad habits he showed in Denver the last two years especially with the pocket timer being really short. As we all do I hope we see a little bit more commitment from him to step up in the pocket especially if he has a better line as he learns to trust the line to protect him. Also the familiarity he’ll have in the offense with it being similar to what he’s run before, there’s hope to have a solid qb for the Steelers this year. We will see right? Have a great day man!

This video kind of ended up supporting what I already thought. Wilson is an overall positive at the QB position. He's been in the game a long time. As such he does more things right than he does wrong. "Doing routine things routinely" is a great summary of his play. I did not know that he had a YOLO ball problem. But it does make sense. All in all, I'm not worried about him. I think he will be an overall positive force on what I think could be a slightly better-than-average Offense. I'm not counting on him making any pro bowls or all pro teams any time soon. But the better-than-average leader of a slightly better-than-average Offense seems believable to me.

I think in his current state as a player, there might not be a better OC for Russ to work with than Arthur Smith. If the Steelers can continue to be effective on the ground, there's room for him to make a lot of plays down the field. Should make for a far more exciting offense to watch.

@nascarandy102014 ай бұрын
Wilson will likely, in my opinion, retire a Steeler. He chose us. Here's why. This is now a run-heavy team. Since Ben left, we have been going more towards heavy defense, and eating up clock time with the offense, dominating the time of possession. That was the plan, anyway. Problem is, we had a college level OC, and ineffective QB's to carry this out. The one QB we had that could do it, didn't get a shot until the end. We knew we weren't going to get another HoF QB anytime soon, so we were trying to set it up to where an above average QB could easily win with this team. Create a team that 40% of the NFL QB's could be successful with. So we really never needed a "stud" for QB. The QB was going to be expected to run the ball 70% of the time, with our 2 bruising running backs, and when the opposing defense starts to crowd the line, throw a pass to a playmaker, and burn them, then go back to running the ball. Rudolph, "got" this. He understood it and made it work. Fast forward to Wilson. He's declining. What better team to come to for an aging QB like him, than this team. Weapons all over the place. The team is committed to continuing to beef up the o-line. 2 great running backs. George Pickens. I'd say, Wilson watched the tapes on the games Rudolph played in, and said to himself, Not only can I do that, but I can do it even better. He has a command of the game. He is, like Ben, a seasoned, successful QB that knows the game. I cannot think of a better team to come to for a guy like him. No one is expecting him to be the Wilson of his Super Bowl days. Truth is, we don't even need that. We need someone who can read a defense, and not get happy feet. Plus, like Rudolph, he can throw the long ball. This is an EASY gig for him. Especially with the defense we have. Last season, our defense was winning all of the games. The offense was hardly every on the field. Thats why they got so banged up. Wilson will keep the offense on the field, and the defense will keep the opposing teams scoreless. This is a dream for Wilson. What a way to finish up your career. Another Super Bowl ring, some play off wins, and a huge party like Ben got, and the fans will love him for it. And the best part for Wilson? He gets to play under Tomlin. No more sideline screaming. He'll be treated well, and he'll never want to leave. We have a QB for the next 4-5 years in my humble opinion. KP will become a tremendous back up, and in 4-5 years will possibly be the starter, if he's patient and lets things play out. If not, Rudolph only signed a 1 year deal. He could be back. It''s a good time to be a STeeler fan. Truly is.
@john6704 ай бұрын
If he performs well this year, stays healthy, and wins a playoff game, he'll be looking for 40 mil+ per year, maybe a similar deal to kirk cousins just got. I can't see us paying that.
@nascarandy102014 ай бұрын
@@john670 I don't know. They are basically paying under 5 million for the QB1 and QB2 now. The cap went up. They can bank a bit for what they know is coming. They paid DJ 18 million. TJ Watt is getting a bundle as well. I think if he performs, and WANTS to stay in Pittsburgh, they come to agreements, and work the cap to help him to stay. I believe if he has a great year, he will not want to go from team to team and will settle to stay in a place where he can possibly secure another Super Bowl ring and a HoF appointment. He's late in his career. This is where the legacy is being formed. Being a mercenary and traveling from team to team doesn't get you into the HoF.

Oh, how stupid of the Broncos. They must not have known that Russ can just throw long passes all day to Courtland Sutton. Based on just the plays shown here he is 100% when throwing those. What the ****? He can't see over the middle, especially short to mid-range. Footage exists of him refusing to even look at receivers in the middle or heading there. Because he can't see it, he often only looks at sidelines. As a result, the only other place he can throw is behind the line of scrimmage. What a coincidence: he has led the NFL in such throws for five years straight. Last year was 23 or 27%, I forget. He has also been bottom tier in explosive plays. As a result, any time they don't average 4+ yards on 1st or 2nd down, he can't make it up. How often does he do that? Did I mention how often he passes behind the LOS? The long passes aren't the issue. Russ can't do the one basic thing a QB needs to: sustain drives. When the opposing team learns he can't throw to the middle, they cover where he *can* throw. This leads to throws behind the LOS leading to 3rd & long, leading to the D knowing a pass is coming, leading to another throw behind the LOS. *That's **_why_* the Broncos are paying him that much to go elsewhere. They hope he'll help other teams lose by spinning their wheels on every drive exhausting themselves. I guess they wished it would be the Raiders, their Genie-wish would be the Chiefs, but you get it. You're looking at what he still has. What he still has isn't the issue. If it was, he'd still be in Denver. They released him because of what he *lacks.* & that's the ability to sustain drives.

At wilson's age, he is, an only should be, the back up. It makes zero sense to have Picket on the bench. He is a number 1 draft pick on a rookie deal. Picket since the bye his first year is 16-6 as a starter. Wilson with Denver was 11-19. The Broncos are eating his contract for a reason. He is not the future. Steeler fans wanting to move on from Kenny after one full year in the NFL is frankly beyond bizarre. You just do not do that and if Kenny goes to another team and turns into a Baker Mayfield, it will go down as one of the biggest Cleveland like debacles in their history. And the risk of that is 50/50 considering all the crap Kenny had going against him with his bad OL, bad receivers, and a bad OC here.

Go watch some football Pickett is lost on the field he does not have an NFL arm and can’t play quarterback. Wilson is washed but still has an arm and talent to outperform Pickett. They will need to draft a quarterback because you can’t go back to Pickett.

You should consider how good the team is. With Watt, Heyward and Minka, you have to try and win now.

@@a1_genz LOL they are not good. Heyward is old, Minka is overrated, Watt is one guy and is hurt a lot and they cannot win without him. Steeler fans are just completely delusional about their team. They get destroyed every year they even make the playoffs. That is not one QB away.

@@bobross1829 how are they not good tue steelers made the playoffs off the strength of defense wake up dude

@@a1_genz lol they got blown out in the playoffs, like they do everytime they make it. How was that defense and rudolph in that game when i9t mattered and they were not playing a team resting half their players and a Cinci team that gave up for the year?

The Steelers line is trash and hasn’t been addressed. He won’t have time for play action if they don’t improve. He struggles with staying in the pocket and the afc north pass rushes are brutal.

Hilarious seeing Steelers fans excited for a dude 2 teams with HOF coaches got rid of. Wilson is washed. As soon as he plays terrible the crowd will call for Fields and it’s going down hill from there.
