Wow that Deco sounds incredible! I just pre-ordered the Gen Loss V2 so no money for it right now, but it was not on my radar until now. Great video!

I had the Gen Loss Mk 2, sold it, and got a Deco v2, I like the Deco more.

are you sure the fully WET signal is also true stereo? I know on the El Cap, the stereo separation is preserved for your dry signal, but whatever the El Cap does to your wet signal, it does after summing your stereo input to mono. It's not the end of the world, because when you have dry and wet signal mixed together, it ends up being hard to tell that the wet portion has lost whatever stereo separation it had when it entered the pedal (that's why I was fooled at first during the Reddit discussion of this). I can't tell from your demo if what's happening is that the stereo signal sounds "true stereo" just because wet and dry signals are both present, or if a fully wet Deco V2 signal would still retain the stereo separation it had at input, but if does, that's super cool.

It does indeed seem to retain the stereo image in fully wet, but only in sum and invert modes for what I have tested. You also have to make sure wide stereo mode is turned off. The sum and invert mode even with a stereo input do not add a stereo image to the wet side from what I have tested so far. Strymon also mentions this from what I understand in the FAQ www.strymon.net/faq/wide-stereo-mode-work-deco/ I should have demoed that portion better. at 6:22 you can tell that the deco is not adding any stereo image of it's own to the signal. When the dig is engaged it now has the stereo image. Also in 3:52 that image is made only from the dig. I should have demoed it without the dig active. 3:52 is fully wet. Off camera I tried also disconnecting the right channel with stereo in turned on and fully wet it does not pass anything on the right channel.

@@YukiTheSynthDragon that's awesome, thanks for explaining. Also really good demo and I agree with you that the external mono/stereo input switch is a lifesaver, the V1 used to kill me without that, but I haven't heard a ton of people talk about this aspect of the V2 as being a big deal.

I can't believe they didn't add a jumper for line level with the v2. I HATE having to pull the plug and press both buttons and turn the lag button to put it into line-level.

Oh, but you are one of my Reddit heroes! I’m looking for a tape simulator for warming up my digital pedals and adding wow and flutter. Have you compared the deco to the line6 retro reel? I don’t know if I should buy a deco or a Hx stomp, Thank you!

I have not yet compared them directly. Retro reel is way more of a warble simulator vs the deco. I have used both but not next to each other. The deco excels at chorus and tape flanging.

Thank you for another great rundown! Now you have the ola do you still think deco is a good chorus? Trying to decide if I want deco versus a lightspeed, ce-2, and compressor 😅

The deco is a good chorus if you want subtle for sure. The Ola is amazing at any normal chorus tone and it’s stereo unlike the ce2. Ce2 is really cool though but mostly for guitar tones imo, it seems a bit bandwidth limited to me when I had one.
