My THYROIDECTOMY: surgery; what I learned; my advice
Hey guys!
Finally! I get sooo many questions about thyroidectomy so I'm posting this vlog to shed some light on what you are gonna go through should you decide to push through with your thyroidectomy.
Questions such as:
Was it painful?
How many days was I in the hospital?
Was it expensive? This will depend on your hospital of choice.
Any complications?
Was your voice affected after the operation?
What about the scar?
I honestly thought I'd be depressed about my scar but nope! Not bothered at all!
The best advice I can give you.. is to watch the vlog! Hehe
I hope that this vlog will somehow lessen your fears.. I am A-OKAY ALL THANKS TO MY DOCTORS.
Insurance was a big help, too! So make sure you have insurance, okay?
Before my thyroidectomy, I had no idea what I was gonna go through.. So maybe that's why I was crying right before the operation! Hahaha

Hello Michelle, taga Davao din ako. My friend (ka batch mo) advised me to watch your video because I was scheduled for thyroidectomy too. Gave me feeling na hindi lang pala ako. Marami pala tayo. Also, was thinking of the scar. But you know what, mas matagal akong nagtiis with a very big goitre, always wearing closed neck tops, noong winter OK pa kase I can wear turtleneck. Now it’s summer na in AU so there’s no way of hiding the lump anymore, cannot wear turtleneck anymore 😂 I had my thyroidectomy done last week lang. And same with you, only after surgery they discovered that the lump had carcinoma. So I am going to do radioactive iodine. Scared but it is what it is. Thanks for sharing your video about thyroidectomy. Makes me feel kayang kaya ko rin ito. 💪🏼 🙏🏻 I now wear tshirts and a silk scarf parang flight attendant to protect the cut from UV rays and the trick works well with the weather. ☀️🌈 Naisip ko, it’s not the scar I should be worried about. To do the treatment kase cancer pala ang nasa loob ng thyroid that was taken out during surgery. Thanks again and take care! 💛

Hi po ma’am😊 just came across your very inspiring video, I trust all is well with you and congratulations on the success of your total thyroidectomy. God is so good all the time!🙏🏼 I have a couple of questions po if it is okay to ask po as,I have exactly the same symptoms and situation as you did have and will be having my total thyroidectomy din po in a few days. Hello there. :) I was also an FA but with QA and was just recently diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and your videos have been really helpful thank you so much! 😊 I just want to ask if it’s okay, did you have to do the radioactive iodine treatment after? 🙂

Nagpa tt then ako last oct. And I'm ok now. Agree po talaga ako na you have to choose the best surgeon. Thanks po ms. Alice kasi at first I'm pity with myself and then when i watch your channel I'm relief. And i thank God that I'm fine now so far😊

Hi Ms. Alice, my mom had her total thyroidectomy last January and turned out Papillary Thyroid Micro-carcinoma.. 🥺🥺🥺 question po- Total Thyroidectomy ka rin po? Meron ka po tinetake na maintenance?do you have any treatment before the annual petscan? ofw kasi ako, im not there sa pinas para ma kausap personally dr ni mama 🥺 salamat..

Had my TT last April. And until now, i still dont have my normal voice😢 although the doctors said my vocal Cords are ok… i have super dami lumps:( so talagang “kinayod” my neck:( stage 3 papillary carcinoma.. i have a question though, it seems like you didn’t gain weight? I stopped exercising (jumprope) last April. I still feel weak:(

I had a voice complication too after my thyroid surgery. I am 1 month post op. I only had thyroid lobectomy. Mine is very hoarse, high pitch and in low volume. May times nasasamid ako whenever I drink water. Almost everyday I’m having panic attacks thinking when will I get my voice back.

Sa akin mam cancer kasi malignant thyroidism tsaka myroon pang 3 lymnodes mam...pero ok yong operation mam succesful ...mdyo utal pa ako kasi di pa nakarecover boses ko last jan21 2023 surgery ko mam..ang bait at galing ng doctor ko mam c doctor chan dito sa bohol..

Hi Mam, just watch your vid. Same case po na mjo ntatakot pa magpa surgery. Tanung ko lang po after thyroidectomy, hindi naman daw po magkaka problema in the future pag gusto nyo magka baby? Kakakasal ko lang po kase and wala pa kami baby. Thanks po

Hello. Please talk to your endocrinologist. That's exactly why I had my thyroidectomy last year, kasi we're planning to have a baby na. I didn't want my condition to worsen habang preggy ako. I want to be 100% healthy before ako ma-preggy.

I'm glad i found this vid. I'm scheduled to have my total thyroidectomy on nov 9 sa the medical city and I'm super scared. Like, I can't even sleep anymore just thinking about it. Grabeng overthinking everyday kasi i have a 1 yr old daughter kaya mas lalo akong scared that something might go wrong (God forbid). Watching this vid somehow put me at ease. Still anxious though T_T

Naoperahan po last dec 11,2022 taga medical city ang dr ko pero sa biyaya ng Dios wala akong scar di halata na thyroidectomy ako.

I was at my fittest after my thyroidectomy. But I was also very active (i work out 6 days a week) and I’m used to meal planning kasi. I also count my macros - give it a try😊 Plus, you’ll see your doctor every 3 months naman so he or she will monitor your TSH.

I think this is the sign na po. Nung napanood ko po itong video nyo po parang naging decided na po ako mag pa surgery next week. Sobrang natatakot din po ako saka po sa magiging scar ko po talagang nakaka stress po 😢. But I think god’s answered prayer na po na napanood ko po yung video nyo po na mag pa surgery na po ako. Hi Mam, saw your video on Tiktok. Katatapos lang po ng thyroid biopsy ko now and kung ano man lumabas sa results balak ko pa din po mag pa thyroidectomy, ang tanong ko po, kamusta ang hormones nyo? May maintenance po ba kayo for hormones? Nabsa ko po kase na gain weight, dry skin, and fatigue pwedeng maging effect? Nararanasan nyo po ba yun? Salamat po
