Swiffer brand products have changed my life. The extendable Swiffer he shows is probably my most used cleaning tool. I don’t begrudge spending the money but, if someone invented machine washable Swiffer dusters they’d make a gazillion dollars.

An alternative to a microfiber cloth is a piece of fleece cloth. It's very soft so I don't have to worry about scratching my furniture, and I find it collects and holds a lot of dust. I fold it over and use the opposite side, and as I do so, some of the dust on the dirty side embeds itself into the cloth so I can re-use the first side after a while. I have over 200 figurines and many bookshelves that collect big dust bunnies and it takes me a couple of hours to wipe them all down - the last thing I want is for it take even more time, while I stop and clean off the accumulated dust. I bought a length of fleece fabric and just cut it into a few large pieces.

Love this! Just a hint on window blinds- take them to the Carwash & hose them down really good. Be sure to line the back of the car with trash bags if you don’t have time to hang them to dry before bringing them back home. And for larger indoor fake plants, or baskets, or anything like that that gathers a lot of dust, hose them down in the shower, or if it’s nice outside do it out there with a water hose.

I never use a swiffer duster, I have a lambswool duster and I use that. We don’t need to be disposing of more crap. Swiffer duster’s just make trash. I’ve had my lambswool duster for 10 years all I have to do is roll up between my palms of my hands and Wala it’s clean. Of course I do that outside.

You are the BOMB!! (that's a good thing!) Would you help a 64 yr. old senior by answering a question? Since that great backpack "thingy" you use is most definitely NOT in my budget, how do I clean my HORRIBLY dusty ceiling fans? As I said, being a sort of "wobbly" old lady, ladders and I are not friends! And is it a good idea to maybe cover the bed under the fan to catch all that falling dust? I'm SURE you'll hear from me again....since a maid isn't in the budget either, lol !! Thanks so much. :)

I use the Clorox cleaning wand to do my walls. I strap a cloth over the pad and away I go. I also clean my walls using Clorox wipes over the wand tip too. It helps for those fast cleans. Something that could be worth adding, would be the difference with dry dusting and wet dusting. We live in a rural area in the mountains and the dust is a lot heavier. For our clients we could go to their homes a week later and it looks like we never did anything. Also there is a lot of fireplaces and wood burning stoves for the winter which add to the particulates in the air/dust. I find that just using a Swiffer is not enough. We will do the high to low dusting with the Swiffer, then go back over all the lower surfaces with a microfiber cloth and small amount of dusting chemicals. Do you have any thoughts on this process, to wear we would not have to double over the work? or just the dry vs. wet dusting in general?

Could you also make a video on wet/damp dusting (wherein dust is wiped off with a moist cloth or sponge, etc..). Sometimes people prefer damp dusting to dry dusting especially when it is stuck to the surface/ built-up over time that it's very hard to remove by only using dry dusting methods (E.g. Dust build-up on fan blades, Crusty dust patches on tables etc..). In some other cases, dust combines with grease to form a sticky layer on surfaces(especially in the kitchen) which requires additional work when simple damp dusting methods wouldn't work.

These are great! But do you have any eco friendly suggestions for some of these? Microfiber cloths shed microplastics into the air when you use them, and shed microplastics into the waterways when you wash them. Same thing with swiffer dusters (though you wouldn't be washing them haha.) Plus the lint roller creates plastic waste too. I really did enjoy this, I'm just very concerned about the environment and I know a lot of people would like to know what alternatives they have available to them too! These were really smart! Especially the makeup brush one! So honestly, thank you!

I still use cotton rags & add Murphy’s to bucket of water to help keep dust down. Just the weight of water alone helps dust to stick. Love my elder sister’s advice in bathroom she blow-dries dust, hair..into corner & swoops up one pile; I use this method in all rooms what with all the picture frames, nicnacs, books..😉

Just use the vacuum with a dusting attachment for everything. Or if no brush attachment, use small dustpan type brush or the make up brush with the vacuum hose inches away so no dust goes flying. The hose should suck the dust right out of the air as you dislodge it.

@pieceofpeace look into some lint free cloths. That’s what I use to dust. I don’t spray any products into the air either. Just the dry cloth and occasionally some lemon oil on the older furniture or antiques if needed.

Quick question from a guy who is 22 and had his booty wiped growing up my whole life 😅 I’m using a micro fibre cloth with a can of furniture polisher and it’s just moving the dust side to side, I take it I need to not use the furniture polisher? I’ve researched it and it’s apparently static from the swiping. Thought about using the soft side of a sponge but I’m not sure. Any advice?

This video is great! Can u help me? We have so much dust in the house and pet hairs. We don't have air filters because we have a boiler and we don't have air ducts. We have nothing to help us get the dust out of the air and we don't have good air flow. We have an air purifier but only one and it doesn't work that good. Need mad help over here!!! I need some ideas

You say to use microfiber to dust surfaces. Do you spray the cloth with water or pledge or anything like that?
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Eva! No ma'am. I believe polishing is what you are referring to. I still need to do a video about polishing. But whenever we use Pledge or something to polish wood furniture we use a dedicated separate cloth, apart from the microfiber cloth we used to dust, that is solely for polishing. The polishing cloth is typically just a regular cotton wash cloth. Of course we dont polish all wood furniture because there are certain types of wood finishes where it just doesnt make sense and honestly, just makes a mess.

Do you have any good idea for anything really good face protection against room-filling dust that got caught in carpets and on furniture and belongings stored in between it? And the gaps between furniture are not ever feeling accessible to clean? Is the only way dismantling?

Anyone know some tricks I've heard of to keep dust down or basically it captures the dust. I know it evolves water, gel smelly beads, liquid soap and a dish but not sure of other ingredients or ratios? I guess you just set the bowls of this homemade stuff in a corner and its like a magnet for dust. I've had no lock online besides using gel beads and fabric softener pellets to make your home smells good. Im interested in dust not smell. Thanks any help!

Does dust increase in the winter/cold months. I’ve noticed a dramatic increase in dust particularly on my pc blue light screen and Arcade1up lcd screens. I hear the dry air can make dust collect more. Is that true? Pledge and a swiffer duster seem to help. But I’m wondering if the cold, dry air is contributing. Thanks!!!
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 3 жыл бұрын
I would say yes. Dust is mostly dead skin cells. In cold months your skin gets dryer causing you to shed more skin. Plus we spend more time indoors in the cold months so yes I could see there being more dust accumulation.

Yes but be forewarned, it doesn't do well with construction dust or pollen. Because the dust is so fine, it somehow clogs up the bag and brings the suction/airflow down. I recommend a Shopvac for construction dust. You want something bagless for new construction or pollen and a Shopvac is perfect for that.
