I stopped opening modern several years ago! I keep it sealed. 9/10 times you’ll have some gain if you just forget about the product in your closet. If I want a card bad enough I buy it raw!

I have Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge as my favorite sets, is it safe to branch out to other sets from WOTC? I have 1 Fossil and one Jungle for example, or should you stick to finishing off the set where you want to master? Thanks for your advice! I watch every video you put out!

Great video, I agree with all your tips! 😊 It also made a lot of sense for me to wait some time before buying a card that I like. After this time, I often didn't like the card that much anymore and was glad I didn't buy it. This strategy [self-discipline] has already saved me from various bad purchases.

Sealed will always be better but I think it’s important to do both need to have fun with it and enjoy the artwork otherwise it’s just all about money which can get annoying.

Great advice Ttp. Your videos are always the best. I'm too old to not open my cards lol. I want to enjoy that experience and be able to love and admire what I pull. I think anyone who can hold sealed product long term is smart, but you also miss the excitement in some ways I believe. They must have incredible willpower :)

Great video and tips! Totally agree that buying singles or even graded psa10 copies is much cheaper than opening seal products for any chase cards (unless your the luckiest guy out there). However, opening packs are so fun! At the same time depressing 😅

solid opinions on your end. there are a TON of older cards in psa, bgc, cgc, in 7.5 through to 9.5 that sell for thousands, like you said from time alone. It'll happen to every alt art from sword and shield in the long run. Latios & Latius alt from team up was a $60 card at one time.....nough said

The last tip is the best one IMO. If you don’t love Pokémon cards and just wanna make a quick buck it’s not the right investment for you 99% of the time

On that first point sometimes an unpopular pokemon nabs you a score pickup like a staff psa 10 oricorio picked up for less than 50$ now going for 200$ because high grade staff command a premium

I appreciate the video. Very informative. I have been a long time fan of pokemon, collected as a kid. Fell off when my collection was stolen. I just started getting back into it, and although it is exciting getting and expensive card worth some dough. I am not collecting because of the money. I just love pokemon, always have. This video helped answer a few questions i had.

Just keeping sealed modern now if I’ll crack some packs sometimes but way less now trying to just keep sealed boxes. Have been buying a lot of word stuff tho

I do get tempted to sell a master set (like crown zenith) to Put towards but then I love my master sets. Do you think it would be a bad move to sell a master set to invest in a slab you can't afford without that boost?

I think anyone looking to make any money with cards printed from 2020-2024, good luck with that. Way too much was printed. Same problem unlimited base set to base set 2 has. Those cards unless in 9's and 10's aren't really worth anything because they was printed into oblivion. And as you said the printers were running even harder this time around. Keeping modern sealed is going to be the only way to make money off of it for a very very long time.

No patience with auctioning. Most of the time the seller cancels on you because he started the auction at $1 and ended up being sold for $25 for a card that's worth $500. Big waste of time. I buy it now at a fair market price based on price chart or go to card conventions and bargain fairly in person. And I hate online low ballers so I don't want to lowball others. I laugh at their faces when a card is worth $500 dollars and they think they got an advantage and have the audacity to start with an offer of $50. GTFO.
