I use brown paper grocery bags for patterns! Nice and sturdy for patterns you want to keep, and a nice way to recycle them.

E6000 glue strip's that you peel and place two piece's of fabric together then iron and the heat activate's the glue strip making a straight seem. No sew DIY. 😀👍

I have an antique singer and an antique kenmore, which are made entirely of metal. I love when she's like "it's so heavy" that actually made me laugh lol 😂 😂 😂 I've never tried a brother, I'll have to give it a shot! I know lots of the ladies at the quilt shop use them so they must be a pretty nice machine

For the larger spools I’d get a dedicated tree for it because that way there isn’t gonna be any problem with tension that you would get if it wasn’t properly set up. It seems like it doesn’t matter and I guess for small things it doesn’t but. The position of the spool really is important for smooth sewing

These tips are God sent honestly! It seems like everyone at fidm struggles until we figure out the grocery paper patterns, the magnet tip and sliver coin threader...so many girlies with there long ass nails wont give them up just to thread a needle lol

Although I love thriftstores for literally everything i wouldn’t recommend it for sewing machines. People won’t usually do away their sewing machine so when they do chances are there is something wrong with them. And nothing so annoying then a not functioning sewing machine. I recommend going to your local machine shop and ask for a dated one, a used one or an older type. You get a good price and service if anything is wrong or you just get stuck somewhere. Believe me I know. I am a fashiondesigner for maaaaaany years now and I have a sewing and designing youtube channel. Check It out if you like. New video’e every week !

Unfortunately we just can’t afford one right now with 3 little ones and being a single family income household, but that’s totally okay because my family is well worth the struggle.
