Hey comic lovers! I was tagged by Mike “Spider Slayer” from the Comic Book Corner 2.0 to make a video of my Top 5 Favorite Comic Book Covers EVER… and it wasn’t easy! I managed to finally pick 5 books (with a bonus 6th) from my own collection to share with all of you, and tagged some great comic book KZfaqrs to do the same, check out their channels below!

I love the fact that you didn’t go old-school and take classic Comics. That pic of the Peter Parker 101 was especially a surprise. Great job.

That Avengers cover harkens back to the golden age as the Vision used smoke to travel to Earth. Awesome! X-Men #101 has the best big hair of the period. Crystal and Medusa had long hair, but Jean's hair is great.

Good evening Michael Great Show. Great to see Tag idea. But impossible. You went the right way, I loved your choices, and I will be interested to see the other choices, Thank You for tagging Maarten, not only is he a fellow Aussie, but he lives and breathes comics. I have to say I never have seen that Avengers 57 cover, it is amazing what comics you just never see. But you are right I was one of those kids who walked into the store with maybe enough money to buy just 2. I used to go for Tales of Suspense or Tales to Astonish, Journey into mystery. Two heroes for the price of one! John Byrne has drawn some great covers, and is a cover artist you recognize right away, same with Mr Perez, and another who doesn't get a lot of glory is Al Milgrom. Spectacular Spider-man 99 the Spot Cover. Then we Have Neal Adams, Steve Ditko, Wally Wood, one of my all time favourites, John Romita. Impossible to choose. So Well done! Man, this is like THE hardest community tag I think I’ve seen. Great channels you’ve chosen, love watching as much of their content as I can. I think you were spot on with the ones you chose. The Avengers 57 was probably my favorite you picked, as I’ve always seen it as a masterpiece of comic art. Well done as usual, Mike!

Avengers #57 has always been a favorite of mine just because of the cover. Other Avengers books that would come close to that one would be Avengers 1, 4, and 12.

Maarten is a great choice! He's in my top 5 comics KZfaqrs. Many Aussie collectors of a certain age grew up reading the Newton Comics reprints of Silver Age Marvel books in the mid-1970s and that's an amazing story in itself, with founder Maxwell Newton being an entrepreneur and shady business character who didn't exactly have a contract to reprint some of Marvel's books but did it anyway. Something of a bush ranger of the comics world Down Under. Wally Wood definitely but for me it's his EC covers, possibly Weird Science-Fantasy #23 with the amazing colours by Marie Severin. Avengers 57 would be in my top covers too, but the tag line "Behold ... The Vision!" has a big impact on me as well, with its echo of the New Testament line "Behold the man": is the Vision the new man? greater than humans? the next iteration of humanity despite not being human but a synthezoid? god-like in his powers? so much to unpack in just a few words! Excellent video Mike, now to jump over to Maarten and see which covers he has for us.

Jim Lee’s X-men 1 extended cover is my all time favorite. The impact this cover had on me and still does, goes beyond expression. I don’t have any Wolly Wood in my collection! I think I’ll look for a Weird science book or something.

For me, the Hamlet parody on Amazing Spider-Man 347 drew me back to comics. Erik Larsen's interpretation of Venom was always my favorite, and that issue in particular has always been my favorite cover.

Mine, off the top of my head are Silver Surfer #4, Detective Comics #400, Hulk Battles the Inhumans King-Size Special, Superman #233, & ASM #50.

The biggest thing I got out of this video is not the comics ( they were all great choices) but the mention of getting vertigo looking up at a tall building. I have never heard anyone else mention that and I have always thought I was the only one that happened to. Thanks Mike!

Hey, man, another great video. Was a pleasure meeting you yesterday at Rietta. Did you get anything good? After I left that indoor comic vendor, I stumbled across another guy with comics outside. I was flipping through one of his boxes, and he uttered the fateful words: “you wanna make an offer on the box?” Sigh.... needless to say, I came home with an unhealthy amount of comics.

Great books!! Two x-men covers you need to get are X-men 50, first Polaris cover by Steranko and x-men 58 first Havok cover by Neal Adams. Those are some of my favorite covers. Love x-men 101 too!

I have X-men 58 on the shelf directly behind me (behind my right elbow) and it was probably #6 of my list but I just talked about it a month ago. Both are amazing covers!

Awesome list! Love Spectacula the negative space cover and my favorite was the Phoenix cover 🔥🔥 John Byrne has illustrated so great covers. I do a lot of top 10 videos and even I was like oh crap it's a Byrne cover. Have a great weekend! Thanks for sharing!👍🏼👍🏼🎃🎃

Good pics. Love the JLA/ Avengers series but you didn’t show the best one #4. Byrne is great. You should check out Alpha flight 3. One of my favorites is Iron Fist 14, but avengers 187, and FF 257 are good too.

Thor 150 (Kirby, Thor, Hella) ASM 18 (Ditko, the colours are amazing), DD 19 (2nd series cover by David Mack, I was offered the original drawing for $ 4000,= but at the time didnt have the money or I would have bought it), Batman 609 (Jim Lee, Batman and Poison Ivy) and an odd one of which I have the original art: Empty Zone Conversations with the Dead 1 (Jason Alexander, his first oil painting) ahhh check it out

What do you think about NFT comics that are being released by Veve? They are Marvel licensed?

Wow that’s a whole big topic. But my quick answer is in general while it’s cool to have a digital asset to read or look at, I’m skeptical of most NFTs simply because most people who collect collectibles enjoy holding the physical asset. It’s the physical item that people are collecting not just it’s function, at least it is for me. There is also a privacy associated with physical holdings you don’t really get digitally. To each their own though, people can collect however they want!

How do you find out what comic books have first appearances of characters? Is there a go to book or website? Thanks I love watching your videos. I will be pulling my old comin books out to look at them all again. It has been years since I looked at them.

You can use the Key Collector website or just look up the books on eBay, it’s usually mentioned in the listing.

She would take me to Comin Book Kingdom in Baltimore once a month and I would spend my paper route money on comics. I just found you on You Tube and I have been watching every video. You may be the nicest guy on You Tube. Keep up the good work.
