OK but I forgot to mention UPDF, which I use every single day of my life! It can summarize hundreds of pages on PDFs for you, annotate, you can ask it questions, summaries etc. It's like Adobe reader on steroids in the best way. Get more done in less time with UPDF: Get pro with a limited offer: bit.ly/3z2lmao

Notion was overkill for me. I would spend more time working “on” notion than getting work done that I had logged or listed “in” notion. And I really thought it more difficult to find things as far as notes and information. Glad it’s not just me

@@krpzsvrm Happy to help, or at least try. Essentially I use a bullet journal where I divide my life into both measurements of time and life catergories and the intersect like a grid. the categories are "self care, work, house care, learning, creative, athletic, and personal relationships" and then i make checklists for all the categories starting with what I want for the year, then the quarter, then the month, week, and day and just refresh my lists as time progresses. I hope this makes sense its kinda hard to sum up in a paragraph lol.

Like you, I also used to love Evernote a lot back in the day, but eventually got more and more frustrated with the bloating. There were also inconsistencies in the features between different app versions, like between the Mac app and the Android app. I did play around with Apple Notes a bit, however, never really got into it. Since I had a Mac computer and an Android phone, using an app that was inextricably tied to a particular ecosystem was just not an option. Plus, I was becoming more wary and concerned about gilded cage ecosystems that were packed with features and useful functions, but also made it really hard to leave. And/or used my data to sell to data-brokers. So, I minimised my usage of Apple's native apps, and also limited my usage of Google services and apps. Instead, I looked towards apps and services that were as platform-independent as possible. (on a sidenote, I even ended up switching to Linux from Mac for this reason) Like you, I eventually discovered Notion, and moved to it for a couple of years. I loved it for it's customisability and ease of use. But I eventually started to find faults with it. For me, however, it wasn't so much the overwhelm of all the customization options and spending too much time just organizing and reorganizing that led me to be dissatisfied with Notion. Rather, it was the bother of not having notes reliably available on mobile devices without internet connection. Or the sometimes slow loading times. I became a lot more concerned about having access to my notes at any time without much fuss. So any note-taking app that was reliant entirely on storing data in the cloud instead of locally became unappealing to me. Currently, I have switched to Obsidian, which stores my notes locally in Markdown format. Basically a plain text-file with Markdown formatting for the text contained within it. Not only is this storing my notes locally, but markdown-files can be easily read by and imported into any other app. So, if one day I wanted to switch from Obsidian to something else, I could easily do so. While Obsidian also has tons of plugins to add features and functionality, you don't strictly *need* them. The base app is already very useful and may be more in line with the simple way of note-taking you prefer. And that's where I am now.

Hi Lindie! Great video. Greats tips about apps for organization and productivity. Lately, I’m more into analogic stuff, so I’m writing down my thing, only using apps when I have to create a reminder or an alarm. So I’m doing journaling in a simple way. However I want to improve things I could do. So if you could share how you do this it’ll be great. Thanks a lot for all your content, language learning and so on. Thanks.

Hi Lindie!! I'd love to understand how you use both digital and analog ways of organizing your life! I notice when I try to use a bullet journal and a calendar/kanban board, I start to get overwhelmed with the amount of places I'm logging things, and forget about my kanban or my bullet journal, or can't decide where to put what. Curious how you approach both methods and how it works for you!

As for now I only use Notion for task management and info-banking, Samsung Notes (same benefits as Apple Notes you mentioned) for quick notes and handwritten notes, and spreadsheets only if I need some more complex data management (like managing my uni progress). Works great and is helping me a lot, especially since I got a tablet with a pen recently - mobile version of Notion works basically like on desktop (on phone it's indeed slow) and digital handwritten notes (especially for uni and langs) are a blessing 😊

Superlist seems great! I love being able to categorize a list within a list. Evernote became annoying to me because I can't use it offline anymore. Notion was overwhelming for me--not a bad app but... Yeah. 😅 Absolutely want to see tips on bullet journaling. I want a way to track my voice diaries, lang goals, etc. But I'm not quite sure I'm doing it correctly. 😢

I love(d) Evernote, but then they ramped the price until it was out of reach for people who use it for simple note storage. Then they made the mobile apps slow and cumbersome and ramped the price even higher. I know I'm not their ideal customer, I would've paid a few bucks a month simply to NOT have to switch.

i also enjoyed having a simple device like lg g4 back in the day, with 2tb of storage on it. basically any files on my computer could be copied onto it. it also acted as a back up for my pc, and my pc a back up for it. but i miss THAT. just simplicity of having alot of storage on my device. i dont like all the online programs. unless it's speechify or google docs. only reason i like google docs is because i dont like microsoft word and i need SOME program to type documents on. i just felt alot more in control when i am solely managing my files, instead of using online platforms for it.

I wish i saw this video a lot earlier. New to your channel and subscribed. I am already in the apple ecosystem but wasted too much time looking for the flashy shiny app . Wasted lots of money in subscriptions and it was too overwhelming to learn lots of things, facing sync issues in different apple devices etc . Your video is a eye opener to me. The best simple note taking "apple notes" is already available free, i wonder why i ignored it and looking for paid flashy apps. Starting to use apple notes from today . Lessons learnt by wasting lot of my time with other apps.
