End-of-verse is an underrated layout. It’s so easy to see them instead having to search the bottom of the page and it’s also helpful that the footnotes are separate from references

My absolute favourite layout is the TN NKJV giant print centre column reference bible. The comfort print font, line spacing, column spacing, reference spacing, page margins and line matching makes for an engaging, comfortable and pleasant reading experience.

Yay! My Nkjv SCR made the list. I don't have any problem with the gutter in my prints. Most readable Nkjv. Even more likable than the Deluxe Reader's Bible.

My favourite typesetting is the NASB 2020 Wide Margin Reference. The single column 10pt size text, the font, and the all black typesetting are great.

I, too, prefer double column. I like my references & notes on the bottom with space between both columns. This set-up allows me to read easily, moving from line-to-line with seamless effort, while also allowing me to mark on both sides of each column. This means I can easily mark just about any section of a verse. I have found this is difficult in a wide single column. The only option is to underline in many situations. With my double column, with the references underneath the text block, I can underline and side mark just about any section of a verse that I wish. My main Bible is the NAS95 Schuyler Thinline Quentel. It meets all my needs. Plus, it has large font. It is hard to beat! I see myself reading that Bible for years to come.

Great choices Tim, you are right that MacLaren is a great edition, I also have the premium end of verse edition. My least favorite is that single column NKJV, I don't like the bottom justification and I wish they would put the references on the inside to keep the text out of the gutter or do wider inner margins. Overall Thomas Nelsons for the win! Their comfort print is always bold and readable.

I've been a fan of the NIV. Great for reading. If I want to do a more in-depth study I have TCR in KJV and wouldn't mind a NASB Study Bible.

🇬🇧 viewer, new to the word, after watching you and Mr Frisch regard for the NKJV I bought budget NKJV in comfort print. Its single column setting makes it read easier. I am getting the word and story in. Then I go to my study bible and get another view from far more wiser people (ESV and John Macarthur. )

Of the layouts in your video, my favorite is the Crossway Heirloom Heritage ESV, but of course that's not an NKJV! :) Of the NKJV layouts you mentioned in the video, although I really like the Humble Lamb, each page is a bit too "busy" for my tastes, so I think I'd have to go with the simple personal size single column layout with Jesus' words in black letter like the rest of the text. My only gripe against the NKJV in general (bypassing the debates over the Critical Text vs. the Textus Receptus/Majority Text) is that I think it's stylistically better to keep divine pronouns and related references (e.g. Messianic references in the OT) in lower case rather than capitalizing them.

NKJV is my favorite translation. I have the Sovereign and Thomas Nelson Single Column (#2 and #4 on your list.)

VbV Center Column Reference, Single Colum Reference, and Inside Reference Single Column Wide Margin...have them all in their Genuine Leather, they are all incredible.

I prefer the double column Bibles, but I do like the Heritage and now that Crossway is coming out with a more affordable cover, I think I'm going to get it. I use the ESV mostly. Of all the NKJV I like the LPT the most, it's double column and the words of Christ are in black. I hate red letter text and I don't care for blue letters either. All the text should be be one colour. The one thing that is keep me using the ESV over the NKJV is that I don't the the capitalized pronouns for diety. I dislike it almost as much as the red letters. I have the LPT with all black letters, I got it from Thomas Nelson as a replacement for the NKJV Preaching Bible that was gifted toe by a fellow KZfaqr of yours. Great text block. I currently use the ESV Large Print Wide Margin Bible. I love the layout and the font size and it's so easy to read.

I wish humble lamb would have totally gone for it with the History Bible. Meaning, May be just one section heading for every two pages for so ?? Right now, it just feels like they keep the traditional headings that is found in most bibles and remove the emphasis on chapters. What they have done is innovative and cool. I wish they would have taken it even further !!

Tim, are you able to clarify whether the NKJV single column coming out in January 24 has inside or outside column references? It was originally advertised as inside, then the description changed to outside and now appears to be back to inside. It's also being advertised as a 9 point font, do you know if they're planning a large print?

Why didn’t you put links to the Bible’s not everybody knows who makes the McLaren or the sovereign or some of the others you mentioned I had to look up who made the McLaren for those who don’t know is Thomas Nelson, but it would have been nice for you to leave it in the description below, and maybe a link to where you can purchaseI still don’t know what the sovereign is, but I guess I’m gonna have to do some research

Surprised the Cambridge Topaz NKJV didn't make the cut.

Maybe I'm missing something, not being a bible collector, but I did't see (or hear) who the publishers of this bibles were, or where they can be purchased. When I hear a bible is the "center-column compact", "sovereign" or "MacLaren", it doesn't help me know who the bible maker/publisher is. Please let me know who the makers/publishers are for these wonderful bibles. Thanks!

I like Humble Lamb Bibles but wanted an ESV edition. I called Humble Lamb and asked if they were going to make an ESV Bible and I was told that Crossway refuses to allow them to make the ESV (Crossway has the rights to the ESV). Hard to imagine that Crossway would do this.. Very disappointed! Grow up Crossway!

At 50 years old welder off and on for 30 years, 8.5 fonts is not comfort anything lol.

KJV is too hard to read and ruins the learning experience. This isn't the middle ages. Words like vessels (vase/ jug) ruin the experience. I'm getting much more from an NIV. It's the same Bible!
