The little charger cable that came with the Bushman Halo I found incredibly useful for adding a Ulanzi BG Battery to the Theta Z1, with a riser of course.

Congratulations Mr Ben on the engagement. A great top 10 and a couple I need to add to my collection. I get a lot of use out of an XSories XStrap - like a big zip tie that attaches to a surprising number of things and gives a very sturdy tripod mount. I also moved from the bushman tripod base to a Leofoto MT-03 (more compact folded, more sturdy, and legs unfold to give a bigger base).

Congrats to you and the future Ms. Ben. One thing I'd have added, and it's more video specific is the Insta360 Cold Shoe to take an external mic like the Rode Go and mount the receiver in the camera blindspot. It works on the One X and One R (upside down) and would probably work with others that can accept an external microphone when you mount the Cold Shoe upside down on a selfie stick.

congrats ben! to add the list is the 3m long monopod, if u really wanna simulate drone shot, thats the best. also one of those gorillapod, if you dont have a magnetic surface for popeye to stick on, the gorilla pod on a branch would help make the shot.

Hey Ben. Great stuff. You're the only 360 channel I watch. I'd love to see a video for competitors to the original GoPro fusion stick - specifically sticks that don't require any locking, where you can just pull and it comes out and stays in place. Ideally with a built in tripod. And not much bigger than the camera when folded. Thanks!

been doing it with VR since the Samsung Gear 360, nothing like going back to beach with your kids as little ones and just being there, or at a wedding and go back and listen/watch conversations at the table behind you that didn't hear first time :) words cant express how so much incredibly better than plain photos or video for reliving.

Cheers my Man. Been using the Bushman Monopod in the mountains since it came out. The four part model might not stick out of the pack like you said though which is the only drawback of the three part. Congrats on the life change!

First of all - congratulations on the engagement! Exciting times. Second, thanks for the comparison between the two monopods. Had my Bushman stolen from my car recently along with some other kit, and been struggling to find direct replacement. (No UK suppliers of the Bushman at the moment so it's always an import job.) I'd seen the Best360 one online but hadn't been sure if it was good enough replacement. Now I'm confident to order it. Third, congratulations again!

After watching this video I immediately bought the magnet. It's not the Popeye, but it's cheaper! It is a little smaller but holds 25 kg. For an Insta360 One X2 it can be enough !!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm new to 360 photography, but not to memory cards. In my experience, memory cards that remain in active use have a lifespan of about three years. That means, in about three years, give or take a year, I'm going to start getting enough data errors that I cannot rely on the card anymore. This doesn't apply if you leave the card in a case on a shelf; then, it would last probably forever. The more grueling the environment, the shorter the lifespan, so a memory card in a windshield-mounted GPS probably won't last as long as the same memory card in a pocket camera. Regardless, I don't count on memory cards lasting more than a few years in active use. Incidentally, reformatting the memory card sometimes extends the life a little bit, but usually should be done only if the card is getting errors, as using the card in any way shortens its life a little bit. It might be a good idea to reformat after several months, maybe once or twice a year. Edit 06/14/2022: I have been testing my new Ricoh Theta X for the last few days. I estimate that a 1 TB memory card could hold about sixty hours of video at the highest resolution the X can shoot. I also took my X with me on a walk to shoot video, but it shut down after five minutes with a high temperature warning. The outdoor temperature was about 80 °F (27 °C).

You should do these videos in 360. :) That would be really authentic. Tnx for the videos I'm doing 360 photos since 2011, my first setup was a cheaper Sony DSLR with a 16mm lens and a DYI wooden "nodal ninja". Then my father in law made me weights for my tripod and a better nodal ninja turned from metal. He was a turner. Now I have a real nodal ninja with fisheyes. :)

Another great tip accecoire: get the Ulanzi BG-2. You add for only ca 20 euro 440gr of weight to the monopod AND get 6800 Mah battery power to extend your shooting-time . two in one!

Couldn't you open the Neewer's lightstand legs only a little bit (just enough to stabilize your camera) then tighten the knob back in, to have a smaller nadir to edit out?

You do need a faceook profile to use the oculus, which is why I can never have one. As soon as someone jailbreaks the equipment, maybe.

Just to let you know in my experience these cards do fail unfortunately, and get corrupted, "ask me how I know" :-) Now I transfer my data to the computer format the card and I can then restore the files back to their original location. I do this every 4 months. The most common causes of SD card failure or data loss are virus attacks, human error, accidentally formatting the card, removing the card during transfers, dropping or striking the card, using the same card on multiple devices, and power failure while previewing the files on the computer.

Ben is spot on about the benefit Oculus Quest 2 provides when viewing 360 media. But it is a bit on the expensive side (and rightfully so, because this is a beast of a device that rivals PCVR gaming headsets). I persuaded a digitally inept relative of mine to buy a GoPro Max to capture life around him in sweet 5.6k video resolution. Taking videos was a breeze and actually pleasant for him. But in the end getting the huge files off the camera and ready for janky flatscreen consumption was not worth the hassle for him. So he ditched the device. So I thought about recommending Oculus Quest to him. But that means to double the initial investment simply to have a head-mounted viewer. And STILL the files cannot be played easily and reliably, without extensive processing, codec-choosing and other tech stuff that normal people simply won't do. Has anyone figured it out by now? A reliable cheap non-gamer VR viewer with a good screen, powerful enough to play high-resolution 360 video, and a reeeaasonable workflow to actually view your home-video content? In 2021??? This is the most obvious missing piece of the puzzle.

Hi Ben, really enjoy your videos. I agree that VR goggles are essential for 360 shooters. However I’ve come across a problem with the Oculus Quest 2 googles that you might be able to help with. I can download mt own 360 videos to the Q2 goggles and they play well. However when I load 360 photos I get a thin black line that extends from the nadir to the zenith in the image. In the older Oculus Go goggles you could load videos and photos into separate folders and then display them with the Oculus Gallery app in the goggles. Oculus has done away with the app and the only way to view your own content is through the TV app. I’ve had to load my still images into the movie folder on the goggles in order for them to show up in the TV app. Perhaps the TV app “thinks” that the stll images are movies and that why I get the black line when I view them. Any thoughts about this. I’m a Mac user so I load my content onto the goggle using the android file transfer app. Thanks and sorry for long message. p.s. congrats on your engagement.

Congratulation Ben! I have a question on 1TB card. Like you mentioned you used around 50 gig on it, how long dose it takes to load the data on phone? is it slow or fast?

Thanks buddy. That will depend on the phone- I have not had any speed issues with my iPhone 12 Pro Max but can’t exactly speak for older phones.

Where can I find that protective neoprene case you mention in #9? I looked on Amazon and ebay but not finding it at all. I got the silicon cap but feel like it attracts dust and then can scratch the lens as you slide it on/off. This neoprene case seems like a way better protective sleeve.

I ended up getting the halo light..and I love it. I use it for photography...and it also makes a great flash light. My friend doesn't have a ceiling light at his gaming table, and I just hang it above from a booms stand to light the whole table.

As an alternate suggesting for getting rid of tripod legs in 360 degree videos, put your company logo on the bottom of the photo. This might not work for VR tours, but for everything else..good quick resolution..
